Dr. Strange: Von Doom, if you have worked so long for your mother's salvation, why did you subject yourself to the contest of the Vishanti.......Why did you never simply seek me out and ask for my help? *Doom stares silently into the blazing flames of his fire place* Dr. Doom: I will bear any ordeal, Strange.....But Doctor Doom Does not BEG. Good Night.
*Genghis:* "Well, looks like my job is finally done. I suppose I just have to wait again." *Servant with Rice:* "That's great, sir. Now, can you please just eat this rice?" *Genghis:* _puts hand on servant's shoulder_ "Genghis Can." *Servant with Rice:* "-_-......How long did it take you to think of that?" *Genghis:* "Longer than I'm happy to admit."
I really want Marvel to reveal that, like The Purple Man and Deadpool, Mafisto is totally aware that he's in a comic book, and that's why he destroyed Spider-Man's marriage. Just because he KNEW it would piss off comic fans. So now he gets to laugh at us in his pocket hell dimension. That would actually be way less depressing than what really happened.
+Whirlwind Spiral Agreed would make for some interesting hijinks if Ben and or Ethan had to read then recall a comic. Not a constantly just maybe a one off here and there.
This is the first time I've heard the story, and it was BEAUTIFUL. Like Tiffany said, it makes Doom's and Strange's relationship in Secret Wars make SO much more sense. There's a level of mutual respect that is unique in the Marvel universe. I really loved it.
I had literally finished reading this for the first time when it came up on Back Issues, I would have hated this book when I was younger, but I thought it was amazing! In terms of Dooms facial scarring, I've always liked the interpretation represented in this story, of Dooms accident giving him just a single scar on his cheek, but due to his nature as a perfectionist he hates it so much that he puts on his armour before sufficiently cooled thus scarring his face to a point of hideousness, but Doom see's no difference in what are clearly 2 very different levels of injury.
I love the concept of Doom having such a small or minor scarring on his face, but he is so obsessed with perfection that he feels he is tainted and hides behind the mask rather then the completely melted grotesque appearance recently portrayed
+Batfreeze Don't worry about this Vanz jack-ass. He seems to be insulting someone on almost every Back Issues. I suppose he has a few issues of his own.
Ive gotta say, I love all the episodes of BI Ive seen, but Ive come back to this one like 5-6 times now. Love this episode for some reason, great story and a hilarious time as always.
I've always been a fan of Dr. Doom and this book is much of the reason why. I've been saying this needs to be a movie for years. Could you imagine this as Dr. Strange 2? Man I wish Doom were in the MCU.
Great episode guys, Tiffany in the middle seat was great , and ben didn't get some sort of trauma this time! (that means he can do the middle seat one day for Preacher!) nice to see the cloak has finally made it's way on the show too
Aaaaaawww shit yes. Also Tiffany is awesome in her cloak. Can we have a cosplay back issues? Tiffany Dr Strange, Ben as Wolverine, I'm not entirely sure on Sal and Ethan. Maybe Ethan could be Mr Fantastic?
I love the traditional "Back-Issues" - but this format was informative, entertaining and a lot of fun to watch. Thanks for the continued great content!
The art on the TV looks like Doom is doing the thing where a kid puts his arms out and pretends to be a plane. While Dr. Strange is wondering why he didn't give up custody in the divorce.
I love this comic. I remember actually picking it up from my comic book store a year or two back. Dr. Strange is my favorite superhero. I love the character, his origin and the world that he inhabits. A lot of this love goes back to reading the Oath. That comic not only made me a huge fan of Dr. Strange( I highly recommend everyone to check it out), but also Brian K. Vaughn. Combined with the 07 movie, I sought out as much Strange stuff as possible, like the old Steve Ditko comics, like the Eternity Saga(which I'd love to see adapted in the MCU, along with the War of the Seven Spheres). I'm even starting to check out the Roger Stern(excluding this comic) run, which is excellent, and will be checking out the Jason Aaron run. What I like about this comic was layered the story was. We see Dr. Strange as this very competent, compassionate individual. Dr. Doom is also shown in a different light. His willingness to rescue his mother's soul from Mephisto and make sure that it is freed from its clutches, even if it doesn't bring her back to life; that just speaks volume of Doom. And still solidifies why he's my favorite villain in comics. Also, the art is fantastic. Mike Mignola's style has always been one of my favorites. The uses of color and shading still hold up so well. And combined with a great story, this comic remains on my top ten favorite comics of all time. Great episode.
Why is this story not a Broadway show? Like seriously the world needs Doctor Doom: The Opera Linkara will play the lead role Tiffany can play Dooms Mother and Sal... You can be Doctor Strange oh and Rob from Comics Explained can play Mephisto... And hey if it takes off just remember some nobody from a small boring town in England thought it might be pretty cool..
what the actual fuck?? you did an episode about everything ive ever wanted and I didn't even know thats what I wanted. id call that great customer service but I dont pay for back issues. time to support on patreon.
really want a back issues goodbye song every time now. even if ya just record it once and slap it at the end of the videos. bahahaha i can't believe she fell for the oldest trick in the book. your the best Tiffany!!!
that was fun, I normally only watch dc backissues but decided to watch this because of Tiffany and I wasn't disappointed. I might read some dr strange and doom now
Tiffany your Doom cape is very impressive and awesome! So impressive and awesome the real Doom wants to take it from you! Awesome video and what a nice change to see someone else talk about a book and surprising to see a book that Sal hasn't read. Ben Tiffany has raised the bar for Back Issues, now you gotta find a book that Sal and Tiffany hasn't read and do a Back Issues of it.
dear comic pop, you guys are truly awesome. please please please please do a back issues on the life and death of captain marvel. its an amazing story of how some of the most powerful heroes of the marvel universe are susceptible to common disease. the reason i ask is because my dog was recently diagnosed with canine lymphoma and doesnt have a long time to live, so it got me reading about cancer, and then got be back into my trade of captain marvel (mar-vell). thanks guys keep up the good work!
Loved it! Thanks for the episode, Tiffany!!! I adore Dr. Doom, though I don't have much experience with Strange, I loved their interactions in Secret Wars (and cried like a baby when THAT happened...). I'm going to have to look this up. It sounds like this is where most of the stuff they pulled for BOOKS OF DOOM (which is what *I* want made into a movie) is from. THANKS AGAIN!!!
Just on the whole Doom side of things you guys should do Fantastic Four: Unthinkable by Mark Waid & Mike Wieringo! Also, Fantastic Four: The Books of Doom by Ed Brubaker & Pablo Raimondi! Great stories, and the deal in depth will Dooms Origin!!
I like the guys alright, but Tiffany is the reason that I subscribed to the channel. Her take on comics is always spellbinding (in this context, pun somewhat intended (sorry)), and - let's face it - she also happens to be much easier on the eyes than the lads. But the fact that she looks like a model is secondary to the fact that she's smart and interesting.
Another great video guys, I love this graphic novel. I think you should give Sal a break every so often and find more books that he didn't read and have Ben, Ethan or Tiffany explain it.
Hey Sal, been a fan since TV little house and I love the channel but I also admire your business acumen . I had an idea if you did 2 back issues a week, 1 mainstream 1 less known. And alternate which 3. Just an idea to grow. Love seeing the ComicPop omnimedia empire grow.
Excellent Episode - I love this tpb, great to see another classic Marvel Event from my own back issues. Tiffany, sister you did a fantastic job, great costume, well researched - you painted a super story in our minds. You can tell when someone presents a book which they love and are passionate about, time for Ben to do one of his (which he did on that long live show once) and even Ethan can do one he love. Can't wait for the next show - you go girl, let Tiffany do some more Dr.Strange maybe with the Defenders or the Secret Defenders x
Awe! Tiffany gets to be the "host"! And it's about 2 of my all time fav characters!? You could say it's scientifically magical! Or don't. Yeah, don't. Regardless, I only remember them really interacting once, so this is gunna be fun!
I was the fan that sent it! I'm glad you guys enjoyed it and I had a blast watching this episode!
You’re the real hero
@@benparrish672 No, I'm Spartacus!!!
W this guy
I AM SPARTACUS!
Dr. Strange: Von Doom, if you have worked so long for your mother's salvation, why did you subject yourself to the contest of the Vishanti.......Why did you never simply seek me out and ask for my help?
*Doom stares silently into the blazing flames of his fire place*
Dr. Doom: I will bear any ordeal, Strange.....But Doctor Doom Does not BEG. Good Night.
This is why Doom is my favorite marvel villain
I love that line for Dr. Doom.

It is always good when they can show a story where Doom wins, because Doom should win at least some of the time.
It's always hinted he's aware of the 4th wall
Godzillasaur Buttersworth if you read infamous iron man last issue he actually speaks to us as comic book readers.
Agreed but only if we see him sign his name as, "Mafisto" 😜
Tiffany nailed it! Loved her storytelling.
+David Nielsen Thanks David!
I mean it’s cute how they are acting like they ain’t be knowing who’s the goon
"Alone"? What're you talking about, Tiffany. Doom..._Doom needs no one..._
+Just Some Guy with a Mustache Doom needs his mama. Which is why he's the sweetest boy in the Marvel Universe.
+Just Some Guy with a Mustache Well, except for Sue Storm.
@@Grievousish Not really, unless we're talking about the movies, there are some exceptions with alternate universes, but I think there's just one.
Tiffany should do this more often, she did a great job
+Blackwing2040 , It's Tiffany!!!
+Whirlwind Spiral Agreed would make for some interesting hijinks if Ben and or Ethan had to read then recall a comic. Not a constantly just maybe a one off here and there.
Oh the cruelty.
She did an amazing job she should do more sal you may be out of a job😤
+Theresa Monroe do more sal......I think sal would like that
I hope Doctor Doom yells a "Dam you Stephen!" at some point
I'll be honest, this story made me cry a little. I already knew the story and yet it gets me. Glad you guys finally made it to this one.
This is the first time I've heard the story, and it was BEAUTIFUL. Like Tiffany said, it makes Doom's and Strange's relationship in Secret Wars make SO much more sense. There's a level of mutual respect that is unique in the Marvel universe. I really loved it.

You know who would've gotten Doom's mother out of Hell, easily? MORTY FLEISCHMANN, that's who!
I love the concept of Doom having such a small or minor scarring on his face, but he is so obsessed with perfection that he feels he is tainted and hides behind the mask rather then the completely melted grotesque appearance recently portrayed
I love how Dr Strange is my favorite Marvel hero and I've never read a single Dr Strange book.
+Vanz Pictures OR I just think that he's a really cool character but don't have the money to buy his books.
+Vanz Pictures I don't get why you're getting so riled up all I said was that I like Dr Strange and then you went on to insult me? Go ahead.
+Vanz Pictures Did someone have a bad day? Did someone do you wrong? PTCD(Post traumatic comic disorder)?
+Batfreeze Don't worry about this Vanz jack-ass. He seems to be insulting someone on almost every Back Issues. I suppose he has a few issues of his own.
+Gold Nova 1 son He's always like that. trust me. it's bot even worth argument.
now it makes sense why Strange and Doom r friends on battleworld
I'm really digging the cloak.
+Sammie Reads I'm really digging the gloves.
+Joel Eustice (Euseless) I'm really digging Tiffany lol.
Thank you! It was hand made by a friend of Sal's
Are you sure that isn't genuine sorcery-ing equipment?
Can Tiffany do a Strange book after every Crisis? It's like a pallet cleanser.
yes. please.
Ive gotta say, I love all the episodes of BI Ive seen, but Ive come back to this one like 5-6 times now. Love this episode for some reason, great story and a hilarious time as always.
Is this the first one that Tiffany hosts? Incredible moment in ComicPop lore.
Tiff does a grear job explaining this book
I've always been a fan of Dr. Doom and this book is much of the reason why.
I've been saying this needs to be a movie for years. Could you imagine this as Dr. Strange 2? Man I wish Doom were in the MCU.
I would definitely read a "Morty Fifeshman: Go Getter Sourcerer" comic. Make it Comicpop. Make it.
"Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!"
What’s Fantastic, wink wink, is that the recent Doctor Doom omnibus has this and Emperor Doom. Like that is so cool.
Great episode guys, Tiffany in the middle seat was great , and ben didn't get some sort of trauma this time! (that means he can do the middle seat one day for Preacher!)
nice to see the cloak has finally made it's way on the show too
This is amurzing. Tiffany's energy is infectious. Can't wait for her to do Dr. Strange: The Oath!
Tiffany singing at the end is so cute.
Great episode! It's cool to hear a story featuring Doom without the Fantastic Four.
Tiffany at the wheel and this Back Issues didn't miss a beat! Well done and well edited.
This comic would make a good Dr. Doom film, and maybe it could fit after the Dr strange film.
This was a lot of fun. I think it's awesome that you guys aren't afraid to switch things up every now and then. And Tiffany did a great job.
Tiffany really kicked this Back Issues ass! This was a great one!
They say there is one psychopath in every one hundred people; 697 like & 6 dislikes, I rest my case.
Never got a repeat of that classic Back Issues goodbye song. Tiffany ruined a long running tradition. 🤣
43:46 Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

I love that you guys actually did this. Especially because you all do much longer discussions on the comics than the other comic YTers
Tiffany was adorable in this. Thanks!
This was like the weirdest edition of a Clue game...The Tiffz, in the man cave, wearing the Doom Cloak! 😜
Yes we need more Tiffany episodes! I cant help but wonder what a back issues hosted by Ethan would be like
Tiffany was sooo pumped. That was a really good one!
Tiffany is my hero! Thanks for finally doing a Doctor Strange episode on Back Issues, guys!

I love how I guess Tiffany hasn't been into Comics as long as Sal, but you wouldn't necessarily notice by the way she knows her stuff.

"for Doom is freezing his balls off!"
Would've been better than what they went with for Doctor Strange 2.
12:39 there is a version of this story in which Genghis shows up to eat the other sorcerers. Just in my head, tho.
"bring me my hot cod piece"... i laughed soo hard
