Just out of this beautiful song... it's just one of my happiest memories, that moment, finally seeing her and feeling her embrace... :/ things didn't work out, and everything still hurts, but... that's life for you. ;) I found this song too late to dedicate it to her, but it brings everything back to my memory, that was how I felt at the time... She returned to France the year after and I had sorted myself out by then and in January of this year (2020) I was able to go to France to visit her. I went through quite a hard time over the Christmas period leading up to it though and I would listen to this song regularly to help get me through it. If by some chance Bed Gibbard reads this I want to be thank him for helping me get thought a difficult period of my life. 👍

First, let me say that I love this song, but for reasons that I think are different from others. I may be looking too far into this, but I have a theory on this song. There are so many opportunities for this song to go somewhere cool in a musical sense, but it always just falls off and goes back to the same chords/riffs in the end. My theory is that this song and the next in the album, "You've Haunted Me All My Life", are actually a two-part. Looking at it that way, this song is meant to be disappointing, just like the Little Wanderer is as a person. Together the songs become a tale of waiting for someone that always lets you down, and finally managing to let that person go despite loving them still. I don't know why I felt compelled to share this, but I love listening to it in that light.

Speaking personally--the parallels to the new Modest Mouse are spooky. My two fav bands from college go dark after putting out albums I wasn't into (Codes&Keys/We Were Dead)... then return simultaneously with new stuff that strikes me as a return to form. Lyrics sure don't jump out at you like they used to... but for some reason I don't mind
And yet Gibbard also indulges some explicit nostalgia for older Death Cab-during the climactic kiss in the baggage claim, the song reveals itself as basically fan-fic to the video for "A Movie Script Ending".

Speaking personally--the parallels to the new Modest Mouse are spooky. My two fav bands from college go dark after putting out albums I wasn't into (Codes&Keys/We Were Dead)... then return simultaneously with new stuff that strikes me as a return to form. Lyrics sure don't jump out at you like they used to... but for some reason I don't mind

I'm actually glad that I didn't know about this song at a certain period of my life. I can listen to it now, but back then... it'd have sent me down paths I wouldn't want to be go down..
This reminds me of my best friend. We live in the same general area, but with the empty distance between us it feels like there’s an ocean separating us.
I wish they would play this song in concert more often. I think it only makes a set-list about a third of the time.It's really an underappreciated staple of theirs.
