Happy to watch any of the suggestions for future videos. Have you seen any videos from "Sailing La Vagabond"? They've just built a new Catamaran and they have awesome interior colours, dark and moody with pops of colour. May give you some ideas. Would love to be in the draw for a Bluetti as well.
Good video, really like the toilet, it is one we are considering if we change our caravan toilet. Colour choice is always a difficult one especially in vans. There is some pics of ours in some of our videos or on Facebook. But hopefully we will see you on the road somewhere and you can pop your head in and see if you like it 🙂
Hi Liz I would recommend earthy colours down below, nothing too dark as it will show all the dust and not matte as that will show all the marks. Darker colour in the uppers will definitely close you in, especially at night when there’s no natural light coming in, so keep it to the lighter neutral shades and maybe in a matte for a modern look. Have fun with the colours and I can’t wait to see what you do 😊👍🏽🎨
We have ordered our next van with Gloss cupboards which has always worked. We have matt in our home kitchen, and after time it shows all the wear marks around the handles and you can't clean/remove them.
@ I renovated my last home and put in a gloss white kitchen, I loved it and it opened up a smallish space beautifully. This home I purchased with a matte white kitchen and I love it too. It’s not as reflective but much easier on the eye and still gives the sense of space. In a small area with artificial lights on at night, a glossy ceiling, cupboards and walls can be a little bright to the senses after a while. It would be great if you could have a matte ceiling, that would fix the problem of the glare 😊👍🏽🤣 Materials are much better and a lot easier to clean now, I see a few influencers have done matte in their new builds for this reason. You must be incredibly excited to hit the road in your new van 😍 Happy travels 😊
I think with the east west bed, the worst thing would be sheet change day. Trying to get a fitted sheet over the corners whilst you are kneeling on the mattress is very sweat inducing 😅
Have you guys looked at Sunland Caravans, we have one and are very happy with the basic features that are big winners with us aluminum chassis, , plenty of water and great finish, my van 20 foot six 2.4 tonne tare. My son has the Sunland bunk van 21 foot 2.8 tonne van with every extra going. New prices are crazy but some great second hand buys about. Cheers Mark
Idea for a future story? What about a comprehensive review of your van and car weights and axle loads. I know you’ve had a GVM upgrade on the car but the combination and distributions including ball weight would be interesting. Thanks.
Yes please, love to be in the draw for the Bluetti 😊. Internal colours - highly recommend the white gloss, it reflects light beautifully and in a small space makes it feel so much bigger! Something to consider with dark overheads - in the heat they do make the van feel hotter. Another enjoyable video 😊
Great van. Agree with the east west and combo shower/toilet. We have both and prefer it. So much more space in the van and makes a small van, big. We also have the Tiny toilet. Changed our world. We have 20L external tank for it. You can bury it if you really want. Just need to use composting bags. Re aircon, I think you will be better off keeping it off the roof. For the reasons you said, plus they shade your panels. We get shading on ours from aircon and we get more power from the mobile panels because of the shading. Especially if you go 24v, any shading with knock out even more solar. Good luck. Cheers, Adam
I love that you want colour 😍 we did sage green, dark grey and darker beige leather and it's so comfy and easy to keep clean. I also contacted cruisemaster about weight differences when picking our suspension and they quoted 75kg more for the airbags 👍
Really interesting to have a look at this van, I’m a huge fan of keeping it simple. And even though I’m stuck with my colour way, I love seeing what others do, my favourite hobby is looking at vans ☺️ so bring it on Liz 👍
Hey guys! Thanks for all the helpful info. Can you use compostible bags in toilet and bury? Would love to see video on Liz's views on interior colours etc. Can you please tell me where you got your laundry sheets for washing from? Trying to find good ones. Love the way Liz looks adoringly at Simon! Nice to see. You guys are awesome! Would love to go in the drawer for the Bluetti. Cheers.
Some great points. I have a couple of questions: 1. interested in a review of the toilet in a future episode please, as we are undecided on what to do with ours. 2. is it easy to retrofit a grey water diverter in a Titanium van? 3. Did you say your dirty dishes container was from Kmart? 4. Have you found an easy way to clean the van blinds? TIA
Love you guys. I have always enjoyed the amount of information you guys pack into an episode. I am getting closer to being able to set off on my own adventure as a single woman. I would love to be in your draw. x
I’m building an experimental 18’ composite van which is mostly done. Looks like a Zone RV but there’s a reason for that. Because I have no interest in caravanning (I’ve never been though) and I have 3 trades behind me there’s freedom to think differently during this build because I don’t have to filter everything through ‘the norm’. You guys were talking out power and I agree so I went with a 5kw EcoFlow, 3700w inverter and 2000w of solar on the roof. There are 3 fixed panels (1200w) and 2x400w remote controlled panels on an invented slide system. Pulls about 1.6kw per hour. I’m just about to do all the cabinets and I agree with you Liz so I’ll be making them all out of composite with a wooden Victorian Ash insert with a stainless steel strip. Saw it on a $10m yacht and it looked classy. There will be no door handles either on any of the cupboards because of another invention. Everything will be press to open with an electronic locking system behind the scenes. There’s a stack of other ideas on this thing so I get what you guys are thinking with your ‘what’s in what’s out’ attitude. I think there is so much copy/paste in the industry that everything just looks like the same.
Hey groovers, loved seeing the interior. Couldn’t agree more about not having white kick boards and on the lower areas. Yeah get something dark on those areas. 👍🏻 Enjoyed watching, great to hear update. Exciting times to follow on your new build . Have a great weekend guys Cheers Pete n Tan
I would love to be in the draw for the Bluetti, thank you Guys, I look forward to your videos each week. I signed up for your newsletter, and there are lots of interesting items, can I please ask whether you can let us know if the places you've travelled are dog-friendly? :) Interior Colour - Personally I went with the colours I enjoy, colours of the landscape, the outdoors is what you enjoy so take your inspiration from there, in your videos there have been some amazing colours in rock formations, reflections from the sun, and the light and shadows when the sun rises and sets, you could also think about how and where to place your lights for reflection. You could put some of the little colour samples on cupboards to see if you like them. Cheers, Jenn :)
Simon, I have an electric Ziggy in my toolbox slide-out. It works fine. We don’t have any gas, but we do carry one of those little $30 gas cartridge cookers you can buy anywhere just in case we get low on power. I was interested in the desalination device but opted to make my own creek water purification system. It’s easy to do and we find ourselves next to fresh water lots more than the ocean. Even so, we’ve only needed to use it once so far so it may not be worth it in the long term.
Always interested in the different items like the desalination unit. I enjoyed the previous videos, talking through the thought processes is great and understanding the pitfalls and considerations gives great insights. I like how you are trying smaller and lighter options for your travels.
The achillies heel of a big power system is induction and it is best to always have a gas option to use when the cloudy days roll in even if it is a portable gas option. We have a reasonable solar battery setup and having a gas external gas option for cloudy days saves heaps of power. When cloudy days come and you want to camp for a week or two another option is handy. I know you are not generator people but they give you the ultimate freedom when off grid and you are never bothered by cloudy days. In your next van lift the bed higher to give you more outside boot space underneath. Check out Zone's latest van ( The summit ) they have done away with a front tool box and have done storage differently and they have now added colour to their vans which are a light touch which Liz might like.
Hi Liz and Simon , Thanks again for another great video . And yes we would love to be in your Bluetti competition . Will be very interested in your choices for your new van . Travel safe .
Hi Liz & Simon, found this to be a very interesting video. Love the hybrid setup but still surprised by the weight. Looking forward to your redesign. Please enter me in your BLUETTI competition , would be a very handy addition to any setup.
hi 24 V solar is a good idea but use victron controllers for your solar. I have tried enerdrive and itech and ebay ones . victron gives the highest amps out if you keep your batteries at 12 V especially if you have two controllers as they don’t counteract each other with battery voltage. there is no need to use a 24 V inverter as the cables are normally right next to the battery and the cable runs would be short. I don’t know if you read my last message but putting a dishwasher under the fridge would give you a lot more room width and height depending on the fridge of course. I hope this information was useful. Have a nice day.
For space for some extra solar on the HS2. Do Titanium put a roof wing on the rear of the van to add extra roof space? This could give you more space, maybe. Cheers, Simon....
Interior, try black as the top half colour above benchtop height, with Troopy Taupe benchtops, cabinets and floor.....I can also see Troopy Taupe and black trim externally....
Really keen to hear your final thoughts on how to plumb the outdoor kitchen grey water. Been pondering this for ages. I use a plastic jerry can and put it in a jerry holder for travel.
I’m keen to see your interior journey. I agree with Liz; the gloss white is too much (and owning a caravan is just a pipe dream for me, until retirement). Maybe mat white roof and walls, but earthy mat colours everywhere else. Also interested in flooring. Great content, thanks. Stew
Another fantastic episode very informative. Can I ask a question whether you use 5 gear to tow in your land cruiser? I understand that putting it under loads is not good. We just towed our caravan around Victoria South Australia not using 5 gear but we have a new van coming in March from Zone RV and want to start using it and getting people‘s opinion. Cheers Kev
Great to see your thoughts on the Van. What are you going to do when you hand back the loaner ? Whats the rough turnaround for your new one ? Safe Travels.
Hey guys. So excited that you are going to stick With the MegaHybrid. I agree with so many points you raise and can’t wait to see your final spec. Interesting to see what colours you go for the interior, we agree you can get it very wrong. We have taken a chance on ours so will be interesting once it is built then we will know if we got it right or not 😂 Love your content you are an inspiration to us. Matt and Leisa.
Have you thought of putting a wrap on the cupboards as i have seen some amazing prints done that way and you can have anything you want on them, my favorite one was a tropical forest.
Well you guys have everything down pat to living the best life. Big kitchen/ big bathroom/ less cleaning lol😅. Outside space for equipment storage Bluetti would be great cheers, signed up in newsletter Have an amazing week😊
Thanks Guys really enjoyed seeing the layout of the borrowed hybrid. Also very interesting hearing your thoughts and ideas on what works best/not. Liz any videos on the further about interiors - tips and tricks also in relation to storage solutions that you have found most useful would be great. Your sink solution was genius! Anyways all the best, enjoying the content with thanks! Jen
Guys, we have a combo toilet & shower. It saves space, it is at the rear of our caravan as is the entry. Walking in from the outside we have on the RHS a large pantry then the fridge then the combo toilet ensuite. To ensure both the toilet & the toilet paper don’t get wet we have installed a small curtain rod on the ceiling & when showering it’s drawn across to keep the water from the toilet & paper. I don’t know how to send a photo to show you guys but if the designers or yourselves & the bathroom design lends itself to the above it surely will negate the need to store the paper elsewhere. We also have 2 water outlets in the fibreglass floor that runs the majority of water out into the grey water tank, minimal left on the floor. Finally, how long does one use the facility, our comment not long to warrant a separate facility for each. Cheers.
Love the ideas on the new van …. Just make sure you get some knowledgable input on the 24v system from someone like Keelan (you know who.) Also you can get 400w solar panels now and 2:1 is the right scenario with 800ah but hey , you’ll work it out. Simon, have to say mate, have you thought of getting groomed ? Beard shape, neck shave and a good haircut?? 😂😂😂😂……. Think the misso loves the mountain man look 👀 lol….
You could look at the new Solar awning which will give you that extra power you need? I'd like to convert my toilet (shower toilet combined) to a non cassette style so it would be good to see your compost style set up.
Hey guys, great vid, thanks for that. To help us with our next build, I’ve got 2 questions. First, You mentioned going a smaller roof hatch, we’re thinking of deleting roof hatches, I’m interested why you are going to keep the hatch and not free room up for solar. Second, you briefly mentioned the chassis coating, I’m a bit of a Galv traditionalist, how have you found the black coating in the stone impact areas ie drawbar and directly after the van tyres, is it chipping off? Keep up the great content. Ps darker/moody interior colours are brilliant, had them in our last van and will go that again. Can send you our colours in the van we just sold if it helps. Jason and Mon
Love the information guys. I'm looking forward to all the upcoming informational videos. The interior design content sounds really interesting as I'd love to see a good non-white-box cafe-style caravan realized. I'm sure you can do it! I think a "Dark Scandi" or even a "Dark Japandi" sorta vibe could work well in a caravan as it can do darker matte or muted color matte while maintaining openness and brightness. Food for Thought. I just subscribed to the newsletter and would love to be considered for that Bluetti unit. Cheers!
Hi Guys, love the experiences and info, simple but important question from a W a a couple about to set off on a 3 Month Kimberly Adventure. Starlink and PLB are they absolutely a necessity? Need to close out an ongoing discussion? T.I. A.

I have seen recently awnings made of solar panels just roll out the same as normal a little bit expensive but could be a good idea all the best Ron

Dish Washing Machine = kids (over time) x Pocket Money
Love the seperatt tiny toilet. We had ours 18 months got rid of the cassette. Best toilet ever.
Great video guys. Really honest and helpful feedback on the van. Thank you

Love your videos, it would be great to win the Bluetti help keep everything charged off road
Great video again and thanks for all the info.
The double buckets from kmart, we googled and couldn’t find. Did they have a name…we thought a great idea
Great video as always 👏

a couple about to set off on a 3 Month Kimberly Adventure. Starlink and PLB are they absolutely a necessity? Need to close out an ongoing discussion? T.I. A.
Hi guys, We just ordered the table like yours (mechanism), the table top is sold separately. What size is your table top/brand, etc?
Thanks, John
I have a combo bathroom do you recommend the wood floor on top ?
Your new caravan with a east/west bed. Please tell will it be a Queen, Double or a bit of each? Many thanks, John C
Question for Liz… where did you get your doona cover from
Im wondering if younger families would like to know how you go about the schooling when travelling as there are more families on the road nowadays. Cheers Cheryl 🙂
Yes interested in desalination video
Can you just install the Midea mini dishwasher in the dirty dishes cupboard?
Great informative video. Just woundered, what air compressor you use and recommend.
Please tell me more about the toilet
Just run house panels on your vans 50v panels running through 250/100
Can’t you tell us about how you manage mail and parcel deliveries please
A great episode
What online school did you choose?
Saw this coming. Check my comment on the first vid for this van.
Compromise...the nastiest 4 letter word in the English language.
