A commuter train derailed at the Epifanio delos Santos Avenue-Taft Avenue Station in Manila’s Pasay City on Wednesday, injuring at least 34 people.
The train was traveling northbound from Magallanes Station to Taft terminal at around 4 p.m. when it stalled and had to be pushed by the next incoming train to the end of the terminal. The two trains were coupled together, but the coupling disconnected along the way. The train then rammed through a concrete barrier at the end of the rail line and ploughed into a busy intersection, damaging a car and a motorcycle.
The Metro Rail Transit-3 spokesperson said an investigation has been launched to determine if the cause of the derailment was due to human error or technical error, the Manila Standard Today reported.
Also, the station of Magallanes to Taft Ave. Station is a slope which can bring the MRT train to a very high speed.
I don’t think that’s what the MRT3 cars look like. Also “standard procedure” yeah, for coupling a train. They were coupled because the first train (the one with no brakes) had its brakes go into full gear. Then they sent a second train to push it.
The simulation is better than any simulation filipino news uses💀
This Manila MRT accident happened on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. I was there during the rescue operation. It looks like the investigation faults drivers of the two separate trains for incorrect coupling, excessive haul/push speed, as well as failure to assist the inoperative train to the nearest station (Magallanes). Rather than pulling the broken train back to Magallanes, it was pushed toward Taft, broke loose, and did not have brakes to stop it before it crashed through the barrier at the end of the tracks.
And also, the station from Magallanes to Taft Ave. Station which is in Pasay is a steep slope which can bring the train to a very high speed. That's why when I ride the MRT train at Philippines, I wonder why it is so slow when it comes to that station to another station then it was becaues the driver was breaking it so it won't go with a very high speed which what happened to the accident.
Sorry, because
its 033-A the one that crashed 53-A that pushed 033-A into taft
THERES NO WAY IT HAPPENED ON MY BIRTHDAY
I've ride on the MRT commuter in this country since when i was a child but sadly the train got rammed at the end of a rail
