      If you stay with boring stuff, it's not bad. We can mail order guns and ammo, restrictions aren't too bad, etc. It's when you get into the fun competition stuff, AR's, AK's, and mag capacities where it gets silly.

      @@magooch5 Yeah, I finally got a chance to fire it last week, a lot of fun. I expected a lot more kick with the 7.62x39, especially after firing my Mosin, but it was quite stable, recoil wasn't as much as I expected. Closer to an AR. Honestly, its a gun with a lot of character to it. Really the case for a lot of Communist weaponry. I really wish we could get AKs here. I'll gladly take them semi-auto, 5 round and even restricted if it means being able to legally own one. Communist weaponry has a certain character that I just love.

    This is a cross between an AK an SKS and SVD. Has the SVD gas system and bolt carrier that looks like an SKS. It uses AK trigger pack and mags has the AK 2 lug bolt assembly. I think this could be better than an AK. The safety is better than the SVD or AK

      I just bought a few Magpul AK-47, 10 rounders (pinned to 5) and with a bit of time dremeling and careful filing the plastic, they fit better than the standard Type81 metal mag. Result! More practical for banging away...5 rounds at a time...or hunting. Yes, I live in Canada. Hence the 5 round limit on semi auto's. Silly eh, I know.

    Chinese firearms are designed for function and reliability not finish. I owned a type 56 back in the late 80's and it ran flawless for over 20000 rounds for a supposed 6000 round barrel and still no ware in the barrel. Sold it to purchase a HBAR Colt AR and it was not what I was expecting, did not perform half as well as the Type 56, it constantly gummed up. 8 moving parts in a AK type as to 27 in a AR style rifle. The AK is a simple more efficient design.

    But, we CAN have training rifle grenades in Canada.
    I asked the RCMP and the NRC specifically.
    Horsies told me rifle grenades aren't firearms so it's none of their business and NRC told me since they dummy rifle-grenades aren't _actually_ grenades that they are kosher. It's no different than snap-caps, they literally fill the same legal putt. Similar too to airsoft grenades.
    Just recently acquired a T81 and I'm looking forward to blooping.

      Saw a few at auctions recently (Switzers?) but it's otherwise easy to make yourself. Just find an aluminium pipe with the right ID (7/8th of an inch), put a weight at the front and some fins in the back and you're golden. Obviously, either find blanks or reload your own blanks to do this.

    Within the first minute, that bend in the stock is actually made for your strong hand to grab, weak hand on the hand guard to thrust the bayonet. If you take a close look at that trigger during a typical pull, you'll see the hammer go into a "positive" attitude during the press. It's not creep, it's just the first stage. Mine shows 4 lbs just to go thru the "take up" then breaks about a pound and a half later. This is after approx. 200 rounds.
    I hope you find a red dot for it Adriel. I think the accuracy potential is quite good.

      Either way the mags are pinned to 5 rounds, but if you are into guns largely for aesthetics or SHTF scenarios, then the detachable mags are a huge factor.

    • @MumblesMarbleMouth
      @MumblesMarbleMouth 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you understood the design you would realize why the receiver is longer. Instead of a dust cover safety like the AK has, the Chinese simply just made the bolt longer to act as a dust cover. Because the bolt is longer, the receiver needs to be longer too.

    Oh, it’s a short stroke gas piston system. That’s not typical of AK. Rate of fire would be higher in full auto mode, then how would short burst work? It’s more like a SKS.

    • @Huntinggearguy
      @Huntinggearguy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Furniture, dust cover, rotating bolt, it's all much closer to an AK than it is an SKS. Gas operating system is different. I've got some pretty detailed pics of all the parts here: www.huntinggearguy.com/rifle-reviews/type-81-review/ Lots of weird non-AK stuff, but it's not strictly SKS stuff either.

    It's a dead end Frankenstien inbreeding between SKS, AK and SVD.
    What you get is an SKS pattern carbine on a AK bolt, SVD type bolt carrier/short stroke tap it and manufacturing costs of an SVD, but without the advanced trigger group of the SVD.
    Incidentally, the increased weight bolt carrier rides on top of the folded guide rails only, since the receiver is lacking actual bolt carrier rails which are usually spot welded above the mag well.
    The receiver length is obviously set up for chambering to a full power battle cartridge, so the only logical reason for this thing to exist was as an attempt to create a unified receiver platform for a select fire carbine, LMG and DM rifle.
    But why only four trunion rivets while the supporting ones are miles away from the primary and are at the weakest part of the trunion? That's just nuts! Also how the rigidity of such an elongated receiver is kept without the support of spot welded bolt carrier guide rails is beyond me.
    Russians extensively experimented with standardized platforms ever since mass produced stamping tech was implemented, but it always ended up in dead end developments. The only time the concept was coming close to a solution was when it was based on a unified 6X49 high pressure UMG cartridge, but it will simply never work on a multi caliber platform. It always ends up overbuilt for intermediate cartridge, and under built for a battle cartridge.
    Type 81 is a weird, freaky unicorn experimental prototype looking thing that should not exist...

      longer receiver is for accuracy requirements. One drawback from AK47 was shifting to right side when you shoot auto/fast. That was one big complain from army. It's weird that nobody is talking about reliability on chinese military rifle 81 and type 95(not 97). Reliability was no1 requirement if it's not only thing military cared. Ak or AR won't suvives in Chinese reliability test. Accuracy? Who cares, they got 155mm cannon.

      Set to 0 (off) for rifle grenades, set to 1 for normal, set to 2 if it's really really gummed up. It varies how much gas power is getting sent into the system to cycle the bolt.

The fact you call Chinese "insectoid" shows that you are a racist, that makes your claim even less creditable. lol

      @Huntinggearguy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @fingers967
      @fingers967 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its much the same for me the blurry rear sight picture to a clear front sight pin,however when i picked up an SKS for the first time I thought hey I can focus on the rear sight a little better then most of my 22lrs which seem to have the sight much farther to the rear.. I understand the disadvantage of a short sight radius,but simply having that rear sight further forward on both this and an SKS,Both would be firearms I wouldnt entertain putting optics onto, not even bring into account how unreliable optics mounts for this or an SKS can be for maintaining zero
