Enjoyed all the kits but the DW made the biggest impression on me. It was such a nice finish, maybe I was listening with my eyes! What I really loved were those cymbals. The ride cymbal was maybe the best sounding ride I have ever heard. Great video guys. I always enjoy Tom's playing.
That Gretsch 18! Like butter on cinnamon toast! Thanks for using the same rack tom stand for all four kits. And best of all: no perimeter muffling on the kick drum batter! Coated Ambassador is like margherita pizza: it lets you know the true quality of a drum (pizza) without muffling (toppings) getting in the way. Food metaphors unite!
Not a jazz player but Gretsch drums have that vibe!! They all sounded great but Gretsch owns jazz & this video just proved that. Nice playing again Tom & Tony always gets the audio perfect to hear each kit. I really enjoy DCP’s videos..
Any of the kits tested here, would be super useful for my very next jazz jamming session, or rehearsal as well. The pitch tone of jazz sizes are simply stunning.
Loved the intro (and outro) 🤣👏 I have a Tama Silverstar in these sizes that I gig playing old r'n'r covers. I absolutely love it. Tbh, if the venues we played had the space, I'd use my 13,16,22 Silverstar more often, but I enjoy the jazz sizes so much anyway. A 14x14 floor just seems to be so easy to tune, and always sounds so good. Quite envious of the DW and Gretsch bass drums in this video, as they seem to have more low end than mine. For my more rock orientated ears, I loved the low end of the DW kit generally, but they all sound sublime. Tom's playing might have something to do with that I suppose. I saw a George Way in that colour at Ronn's stand at the UK Drum Show and in the flesh I thought it looked beautiful. And in the flesh it was obvious where the colour name comes from. 👍
Gretsch for the win! Fantastic finish and amaaaaaaaazing tones. Second place is a tie between the Geo Way and the DW Performance kit. All the cymbals were spectacular. Great job, my dudes. 😂🎉🎉🎉
I think they all sounded great! I'm a Gretsch guy, but I love all good quality instruments and I think all of these sounded really good. I think the George h Way snare drum stood out as a unique instrument. And I agree that the DW had some really beautiful controlled low end.
Finally a real drummer! can I rate drummers? he's the second best you had on here... on my Grado headphones I leaned toward the DW's beautiful rich overtones and nice balance in the tuning between the different sizes and of course, the Gretsch sounded more aggressive open and faster on the attack. the Ways are right in the middle.. a good drummer can make any of these kits work style and technique can make all the difference in the final analysis
The Gretsch sounds so cool, I’m eyeing them out for rock, but roughly same sizes due to gig transport challenges. All of the kits sounded great in their own way. Also, nice magic trick in the intro.
Can't lose, they are sound really good. I'd probably pick Canopus or Gretsch based on this video. I love the open 'jazz' sound and I tune my drums that way whenever I can ...
They were all good. I would go with the George Way or the Gretsch. The Canopus same the same volume perhaps it just moved the sound away from you when you played. My favorite finishes were the George Way and Canopus.
I hate the finish on that Canopus kit. Normally I love their finishes but this one just didn't ring my cymbal bell. 😂. Much softer sounding kit. You fellas were right.
Great video. I'm from Vancouver and I had no idea that there was a drum manufacturer there. Didn't like the color but the George Way kit sounded great. Canopus was my second choice, I thought the Brooklyn had more extended range but colder midrange on the toms. All good kits though.
Everyone sounds quite the same, but is the playing that makes the difference...great performance!...it's a shame that REMO doesn't produce the gold crown anymore!
Great video, though I wish the tom toms were tuned a bit higher. DW and George Way win based on finishes. Canopus and Gretsch sounded slightly better but very little difference between these sets. I’d probably go with a Yamaha Tour Custom-competitive tuning range and quality but a grand less.
I think the canopus sings the best and I liked the dw. I'm person who knows? I'm kinda a Gretsch lover but not the Brooklyn as much. I've loved the George Way in person but also love the Canopus in person. I'd likely be happy with just about all.
The George Way is so rich in tone. What a beauty. The proficient playing helped too.
How you mentioned the Gretsch being lively is why I love Gretsch and they just fit all styles of music!
Nice playing and good cimbal choice too.
As a drum set enthusiast, I always look forward for your videos! Great job again guys!!!

Gretsch sounded good to my old ears.
Came for the drums but was blown away by the cymbals. And excellent playing, of course!
Another amazing comparison and video. My preference were the Gretsch and the DWs.
Fantastic sounds and drumming, can't go wrong with any of them.
0:21 you guys just hit me with a MASSIVE punch of nostalgia with that sound effect :')
George Way and Gretsch.
The sound of the Gretsch (especially the snaredrum), but definitely the finish on the Canopus, what a gorgeous looking kit : P
The overal production quality of your videos get better each day
Great video!
Fantastic video. Great selection to compare. Like them all actually. DW and Gretsch probably my favorites. Again, great work.
I like them all, was surprised by DW in a good way.
I am not a fan of any particular brand, but to my ears, DW for the win.
Damn those Gretsch drums sound so good.
That Gretsch 18! Like butter on cinnamon toast!

Great line up, can't go wrong with any of these. I liked the Canopus tone. The fact it's a bit quieter works well for trio work.
DCP brings TOP SHELF content each time out! 💯🥁
Really impressed by the George Way kit 🥁
Gretsch for me. Sounded great!
I liked the George Way with the Gretsch as a close second. GW had a warmer sound to me and didn’t have any unpleasant overtones like the others
Any of the kits tested here, would be super useful for my very next jazz jamming session, or rehearsal as well. The pitch tone of jazz sizes are simply stunning.

Yaiba!! For sure

Cool, about time. Thanks.

Oh my....those cymbals are so crispppppp
They all sound beautiful, but I prefer the Gretsch kit. Good choice to have Tom play the kits as well.
Can't lose, they are sound really good. I'd probably pick Canopus or Gretsch based on this video. I love the open 'jazz' sound and I tune my drums that way whenever I can ...
Is it just me, or do the drums actually sound better via the room mics?
They were all good. I would go with the George Way or the Gretsch. The Canopus same the same volume perhaps it just moved the sound away from you when you played. My favorite finishes were the George Way and Canopus.
1. Canopus
2. Geo Way
3. Gretsch
4. DW

That Gretsch Brooklyn is a nice sounding kit.
Great video. I'm from Vancouver and I had no idea that there was a drum manufacturer there. Didn't like the color but the George Way kit sounded great. Canopus was my second choice, I thought the Brooklyn had more extended range but colder midrange on the toms. All good kits though.
Os vídeos de vocês são Sensacionais !! Abraços para vocês !!
Everyone sounds quite the same, but is the playing that makes the difference...great performance!...it's a shame that REMO doesn't produce the gold crown anymore!
Geo. Way for me. I have one of their snares from 2011.
Gretsch and Canopus both pretty much rule.
The Gretsch was it for me for sure!
One of the rare times I´d prefer tthe DW. But all sounded pretty good.
Gretsch, then GW (and I own a GW Tuxedo kit that sounds incredible)
High end kit comparison, please. 🙏
PHX, DW Collectors, Tama Star, SQ2
Most drawn to the Gretsch, though I dug the Canopus snare sound.
Quatro belas baterias ! Casa uma com um som especial. Difícil escolher qual a melhor !!
To my surprise, I’m gonna have to go with the GW
George all the Way!
All really worthy. Wish GW offered a shell bank for the customer to build a set.
Great video, though I wish the tom toms were tuned a bit higher. DW and George Way win based on finishes. Canopus and Gretsch sounded slightly better but very little difference between these sets. I’d probably go with a Yamaha Tour Custom-competitive tuning range and quality but a grand less.

I’m just here to hear the intros 😂
IN THE WOOORLD
The Royal cymbals were the winners here👍
Perfect video. Can you tell about tuning here? Was the tunebot used?

@adamfrost3722 thank you
By the way I have a 14x12 Ludwig Classic floor tom and losing the two inches make it sound like the bomb.,
I'm going George weigh Tom's and canopus bass drum. Love Gretch but it's gotta be USA custom hahaha
Gretsch and Canopus for me
Yaiba toms, DW bass drum, George Way snare. All 'round, I liked the Gretsch the least, though I could work with any of these kits.
Not a jazz fan but the Gretsch sounded great.
I liked the Canopus best
Gretsch! This time.
❤❤❤
The best sound....for me...
I'll take any of them but scratch his my favorite. Way too much snare buzz but that's just my preference
Canopus >Gretsch > (DW & George Way=tie)
Why does it appear the wrap on the DW and Gretsch floor toms is lifting at the seam? Is this real or my imagination?
Can you please post the tunebot readings?

Added!
1 Canopus
2 DW
3 Gretsch
4 Georgie
Yaiba
Gretsch was my number 1, followed closely by the Canopus. Surprisingly I didn’t really dig the George way the much, I think it was my least favorite
For a second I thought he just changed clothes...
We all look the same here
1 GW then 2 Gretsch .
DW had a better low end.
Gretsch and George Way.
