    Finally made it to Spring Creek two weeks ago. It was worth the trip. Met Dave and he was the nicest guy. Definitely was worth the detour off the interstate.

    James, loved the photos of Wuppertal's Schwebebahn! I was stationed in Germany1972-75, but never got to go there! I was much farther south, near Heidelberg.

    I can't believe you are approaching your 200th show. Wow. What an accomplishment. Love seeing the rolling stock from England. So cool. I had never heard of a hovering railroad train. What a great scene that could be on a layout. Learn something new every time I watch this show. Thank you Ken for another great show.

    Really enjoyed seeing Chris and the UK rolling stock. I have 3 separate OO scale trains i can run on my layout and a few other vintage sets just for looking at.
    There are so many great modellers from all around the globe. Inviting them on the show is a great idea to broaden the interest in and the potential audience of your show.

    Great to see Chris on show... as an ExPat Brit modelling OO/OO9 in Southwest Minnesota, always good to see exposure for British rolling stock (even if out of my era)!

    I only live 25 miles away from Birmingham (England). It also where we have the UK biggest model railway show in November known as Warley but I am intrigued on James's new project of the Wuppertaler Schwebebahn as it is ambitious and love to see the progress on this in future shows and Mike's speeder truck progress coming on nicely. Great show but imagen if you could build a model railroad in a baseball stadium, bet you could build a HO scale of New York in there!

    Very interesting story on the suspended train. What if instead of powering the train, you used the motorized track system that moves like Luke Towan did when he animated the bicycle and truck one of his dioramas? Just build the train unpowered and have it attached to the moving track system that can be installed in the overhead supports.

      That's definitely something I have been considering. I've been looking closely at how deep the trenches for the drive system need to be. But I've definitely been thinking about a magnetic drive of some sort, if I can't put motors in the car itself.

    Regarding the hung trainset, I would use a drive unit from the FCS car for the propulsion. If you make the rails out of two I-beams that are mounted/glued back to the back, you can also power feed the vehicle that way.
    Check me out if you want a better explainer.

    Good to see Chris with you. I knew he was your side of the pond visiting St Louis but didn't realise that he was calling in.
    We were hoping to do the St Louis NMRA convention in 2020 then this year but unlikely to be in the USA till Christmas.

    Great show this week. Nice to see some UK models on the table tonight. The UK model railway scene has become popular again due and interest increased during lockdown due to TH-cam channels like Jenny Kirk's. Manufacturers have also brought out some great models including Hornby who have brought out the most famous British dawn of railways locomotive Stephensons Rocket. This year we have a purple steam locomotive based on a repainted and renamed steam locomotive based at the Severn Valley Railway in the UK and they repainted it for the Queens Platinum Jubilee anniversary.

    James, consider the magnetic track in the overhead of the monorail like Luke Towan used to animate some of his diaramas.

    • @jamesregier8463
      @jamesregier8463 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been thinking about that one, and it seems promising. It's a question of whether the chain can be effectively hidden in the overhead trackwork. From there, putting rare earth magnets into the Schwebebahn struts could work.

    James I would look at a similar railway I once rode in Memphis. Might give you some inspiration for an American version of your model. Very cool modeling idea!

    Makes me wonder why we on this side of the lake never thought to use the English coupling system. It's weird and foreign looking but it's been around since trains were invented. There must be a reason that they kept the system and never adopted the American standards for coupling. Major league sporting events, BTW, are where they are testing nothing but digital currency. It will be everywhere eventually, but that's another topic for another channel.

    Couldn't the suspension train be driven by a hidden motorized track inside of a raceway like what is used for moving cars and bicycles on a layout? Just a thought.

    • @jamesregier8463
      @jamesregier8463 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been thinking about that kind of drive for it. It all depends on how easily I could hide the mechanism inside the track structure, since the train would be above the magnetic range. Since the Schwebebahn only travels in one direction, such a mechanism would work well.

    I wish he would bring up how the industry doesn't think about deaf model railroaders. we don't want to pay for DCC ready equipment when we will never want DCC with sound. The only way I can hear his show is because my cell phone is link to my hearing aids.

    • @mikebudde2570
      @mikebudde2570 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What can the industry do to help? I’ve seen your comments several times, and asked you that question but didn’t get a response from you. I do not have sound or DCC but I still enjoy my trains. Again, what do you expect from manufacturers?
