My 1st trip to Bob-Lo was the summer of 1971, so nice to see a video that was shot just 1 year later. Miss those days in the summer of '71 & all those I knew then in St. Claire Shores, Michigan.
Thanks so much for sharing this. Went there as a child growing up in Detroit in the 70s! I live in San Francisco now and its a topic of conversation with my friends that live here who are also from Detroit.
Went here and Greenfield Village with my family every summer in the 60's and 70's. I always preferred Greenfield Village over Bob-lo and use to have fights with my siblings over which one we would go to 1st during the summer. Bob-lo always won. Loved the boat ride there and would always sit on the Canada side of the boat during the trip, because Canada seemed more interesting and cleaner.
Wow! Nice trip down memory lane! It' s funny how as a kid I loved the Boblo Island but hated what seemed to be the longest boat ride ever to get there. Looking at the boat on the video looks like it was moving pretty fast, but as a child that 18 mile trip seemed like the boat was drifting to the Island.
Did you go to Boblo from the dock in Amherstburg right across from the island itself? Was the boat you rode on called the Papoose or something like that?

My dad used to take me and my brothers there when I was 6 years old, around this very time. We had a great time!

I remember the boblo boat ride more the park, being in water , hot weather, grezt food, music etc etc is special
