I always carry a g17 or g19 in extreme weather conditions. I agree with you on a .556 mine is a DDM4V7 and I like the idea of having a 12 gauge shotgun with me.
Bugging out is my last option. But, I am surrounded by a river on three sides, and you can’t win a fight against water. So, I have thought often about if I needed to leave most of my stuff here. A very sad day indeed. But, I would take a 1x6 scoped AR in .556, a rimfire bolt rifle, and a Sig 226p legion. If I could take one more, which I would do anyway, it would be a rimfire hand gun: a beretta bobcat or a smith model 34. Thanks for the video. Hope it never comes to that.
I'd take a Ruger 10/22 breakdown over the Extar! You can carry 3 to 4 times the ammo (22LR) over 9mm, Great video though Dan! Hope you had an awesome Christmas & have an awesome New year!!
The way my house and property is set up I would bug in instead of bugging out. I gave my Glock 19 to my friend for Christmas..it was a 1st generation.. For bugging out..I'll use my Taurus G3C, an AR15, and my Ruger 10-22. My 12ga Mossburg 500 is already at my location...plus my 30.06 Hope you had a Merry Christmas Stay safe

My bug out kit is a 22lr Lcr and a Kel Tec Su16ca in 556. 2 light guns. And if your carrying bulk ammo around, 22lr is light and 556 is lighter than 9mm and you can do more with it.

I believe in being prepared and for some, that means bugging out. I look at it differently… I’m trying to get home. My “get home” preparedness kit includes a high quality Handgun with one extra magazine and a Mossberg 590A1 with an 18” barrel. I doubt seriously I will ever need more than that. I’m on the defensive, not the offensive. I’m very comfortable with pump shotguns. I grew up shooting them at a young age and enjoy them very much. Confidence is high that should I be forced to bring it to bear, someone on the receiving end is going to get an education
Yeah man you use to see videos all over TH-cam talking about bugout guns, bags, and locations but you don't see any of that anymore. I think my 3 guns would be a 9mm handgun, a Ruger 10/22 takedown, and a 14.5" AR15 in 223/556... I'd have a suppressor for all of those as well just because I already own them. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
Great subject! This is something I've been giving a lot of thought. I've broken it down into two types of "bugout" scenarios: type 1 bugout is an organized evacuation, prior to the disaster or event, and probably by car. Type 2 is an "oh shit" type of thing where the disaster or event has already occurred and I'm probably going to be bugging out on foot, possibly in winter. So I'm slowly putting together two separate kits for that. Right now my side arm is the same for both, a full sized 4.25" barrel M&P 9 m2.0. Rifle for the type 1 situation is an 11.5" barrel Daniel Defense AR-15 in 5.56. That's as far as I've gotten. More thinking and planning left to do, and I still haven't put together my clothing (winter capable), backpack, etc.
Or just get a HiPoint 1095 that delivers 700+ ft-lbs of energy. Plus the ability to shoot .40 cal. I’ll never understand the cult following of 9mm fanboys.

1st, I bought an Extar an like it better than my AR-9 build, just wish they still offered the older style brace. .357 4" Smith and Wesson 686, 16" .357 model 92, Mosberg 500 12 ga.
The magnums really do benefit a lot from the extra barrel length, especially when compared to other PCC. For the first 100 yards that .357 out of the 16 inch barrel is very similar to a 30-06 ballistically
Solid video for pondering. I think any quality pew pew tool you are trained to use/carry is a good deal for edc...Bugout, rule of law being challenged or collapse, as you note ups the mandates. Availability of parts, ammo, mags, reliability and such... For me Glock G19, G17 will always be my choice...even thought I like other tools for other uses possibly greater. Any duty style AR-15 5.56/.223 11.5" or greater, and a Mossberg 590 style 12 gauge or Beretta 1301 12 ga.
If I had to carry "three" bugout guns, first would be a primary rifle most likely my M4 followed by my favorite sub compact sidearm Bersa TPR9C secondary and lastly in a backpack my Henry AR7 emergency survival rifle. I may also throw in alongside the Henry AR7 my Heritage Rough Rider revolver. Thanks for sharing.
Depends on the situation and the area; I'll go with 5 and pick 3 when the time comes- G17, PF9 or Sig P365 in 9mm, Ruger 10/22, SW- M&P AR15 223/556 are first 3, for the 4th spot a shottie; depending on budget, either the Mossberg 590 or Benelli M4 in 12g-00. Finally #5, a long range solution; 30-30, 308, or 300 Blk rifle- On a tight budget, the Kel-Tec PF9, the Ruger 10/22 and Mossberg 590a- hard to beat for their role, weight, and cost.
I know I would have to take one of my revolvers and then Magazines wouldn’t be a problem. Probably take my ruger sp101 in 357 and my Henry 357 carbine plus one of my 22lr rifles .Hope you’re having a great day Dan 👍👍
I like your thinking, but if you have that bull-pup rifle, (to me) that sort of makes the PCC unnecessary. So, my three "bugout" firearm choices would only be two: Rifle (11" AR) and pistol (G17) --- both suppressed. If the rules of the video are that I **must** pick 3, then maybe an extra pistol (another G19 or G26?) carried concealed just in case.
My 5.56 fighting rifle, Glock 32c in 357Sig, and a quick change 9mm barrel, & mags just in case I run out. And of course, my Mossberg 500 with OO buckshot.
9mm carbine is pointless in my book because a red dot on a 9mm pistol can do basically the same things. The saved weight can be used to carry more ammo. If I'm going to take a rifle it'll be an AR15 in 556 with a CMMG 22lr conversion kit in my backpack. That way I can use 22lr for small game hunting or 556 for self defense or medium sized game hunting. If I could only choose one gun it would be a 9mm Glock MOS with a quality red dot from Holosun or Trijicon.
@@pole_barn_builder Why's that? Have you ever found another gun that's as easy or easier to do a detailed strip on where you remove every single part from the gun? In my life I've owned over 50 different handguns and have never found one that's as easy to fully disassemble as a glock. There's a few that come close like the Sig P250, Ruger P Series and a 1911 series 70, but glocks are still a much more simple design to do a detailed strip on and the parts are standardized and easy to find so in a disaster if I needed to replace a part not only would it be very easy to replace, but it should be very easy to find. Most people who hate glocks have never taken one " completely " apart removing every single part because if they had they would realize how simple and ingenious of a design it really is. Just out of curiosity what would be your one gun choice and have you ever " completely " taken it apart removing every single part? I'm not talking about a simple " field strip " I'm talking about a " detailed strip ".
@@pole_barn_builder Have you ever done a detailed strip on that XDM ? They are a nightmare. I've done it before to a 9mm XDM and they are ridiculously over complicated. If I want to shoot something with 10mm power I have a Glock 21 chambered in 45acp with a 400 corbon conversion barrel that I reload ammo for. If I want something with more power than that I'll shoot my Ruger Redhawk chambered in 44 magnum that I also reload for. 10mm is a good caliber, but the ammo won't be anywhere near as easy to find in a long term disaster as 9mm. Good luck finding spare parts or magazines for your XDM or even being able to replace the parts if you were lucky enough to find them in a long term disaster. That's like trying to scavenge parts for your car in a disaster. You'll be more likely to find Toyota parts than you will for a Fiat and the Fiat is 10 times more complicated to work on than the Toyota in the same way as an XDM is 10 times harder to do a detailed strip on than a Glock.
Great choices I love your rifle choice. I don’t have that so I would pick iwi tavor x95, for a pistol that is so hard, I want to say Glock, but I’d probably choose the following: X95 tavor HK USP compact 9mm Mossberg 500 For the lightest options: SU16 (keltec) Glock 17 Cr920
I always like your choices, but weight is a big big factor. I am 62 now and can fight but not like I use to. For me I have supplies for me my wife and dog. And just like nutnfancy my dog has a pack for her food and mags. I take 2 guns. My G19 and my Bakail 12 guage single shot. It has a 18 inch barrel all polymer so it's light. The I take my short lane adapters in 45colt,38special,9mm, 410 and 22lr. I take 12guage,9mm and 22lr ammo. Then when out prowling any dumbass comes my and is enemy I take his ammo for my shotgun. But this setup is light for me cause my wife carries nothing cause of back. Sorry if I sound rough but this old bear is mean and ornery when taking care of my family. I have instructed my adult kids to do the same cause this old man will not share my supplies with them. They have been told for yrs what to be ready for, if they didn't listen it's their ass
it's common to have to fire around the left side of cover. Try to do that with a bullpup and you'll have to eat a lot of hot brass. Bullpup trigger pulls suck, due to the extra sping tension needed to move that long trigger-op rod.. You have to carr 40 lbs of other stuff, armor, ammo, food, water, pack, sleep/shelter gear, clothig, so you wont be carrying two longarms. You can't shoot what you aint got with you and you an't get men or animals to WAIT while you go GET "the right gun for the job". Get an shorty 223 AR-15 with a silencer, night sights, 60 gr Nosler Partition softpoints. 60 gr Aquila subsonic 22 ammo, 22lr conversion unit, trigger job, scope OPTION. (see thru mounts for the iron sights)
My choice, if I absolutely had to bug out, would be an X95 and a G17, in my opinion this would be enough for me, I'm bugging out not going to war, I'll try to avoid conflict whenever possible. If going on foot I'm not bringing a shotgun, too much extra weight and the ammo is bulky and heavy and has limited range.
Glocks in 9mm are great. The P80 is best IMO as it has the finger cutout on the lower front grip to help you remove a magazine if you get a double feed stoppage (the only Glock that still has this feature) and has the single coil recoil spring which is better than the double coil recoil springs on Gen4 and later Glocks if sand, dirt or mud gets inside the pistol. Not sure a rifle is worth the extra bulk and weight, but a 7.62x39mm rifle would make the most sense as it is much more powerful and flatter shooting than 9mm and easily defeats light body armor, while steel core bullets have far better penetration of commonly encountered obstacles than any 5.56x45mm bullet as they readily tumble/fragment (they will punch through a concrete brick wall). Ideally something with a folding stock, so probably a WASR 10 with a wire folding stock that is compact and folds to the right side of the receiver so is not obstructed by an optic mounted on the left side of the receiver.
I'M too old and disabled to "bugout, " I'll be buggin in. My kit consists of a Glock19 in a @caagearup MCK, and a Shotgun, And for longer distance, whatever rifle still has ammo.
the biggest problem will ( probably) be lack of ammo that you are able to take with you I have ammo cans loaded with dedicated calibers and then others loaded with mixed calibers/weapons to be supplied bandoliers to wear etc along with ammo cans But to me the reality is if the shtf you and neighbors better have worked out something b/c unless you already live "out there" they are coming to lockdown the easiest first....the neighborhoods excellent video
Interesting video touching on a much talked about but now out of vogue topic. If I had to pick three guns to bug out with I think I’d opt for an AK. Definitely good enough to fight with. But it will readily take deer, hogs and several game if need be. The other would be a lever action in 357 maybe 44. Simple, lightweight enough but highly capable of taking game. And finally a 22 pistol for small game. I’m not concerned with a service caliber pistol. If I have to fight I want a rifle. With 22 you can carry a lot of ammo for next to no weight and I’m more concerned about eating and staying alive. Besides evasion is the better bet over engaging in a firefight while on the move in an emergency.
agree 100% . Do not overlook the .22 , my p17 weighs almost nothing. I can carry 300 rounds of .22 for what 50 rounds of 9mm weighs. A .357 lever action can easily take large game and be used as defense if you need to. If I am bugging out I am not looking for a fight I am looking at survival that's it period i am not Rambo.
I'm 60 in OK shape. I work 3rd shift. If shtf during the day I'm stuck in my little 2 bedroom apartment. A night when I'm off it's my kel tek 9mm rifle, taurus 22lr and Henry 30/30.
it's pretty quick and easy to dig a spiderhole, and two men can bracket the stop-point of a car ambush between them, 100m on either side of the caltrops, That gives them a lot of time and space in which to pour bullets into your car,, so you'll probably be hit by that barrage. You can't be in a 4 wheeled vehicle, or go anywhere in daylight, folks. You can walk beside a mountain bicyle, with 100 lbs of coconut oil and nut butters lashed to the bike. You can wear 30 lbs of BOB, and have your rifle in an Amazon Spring clamp across the handlebars. If the terrain is not bad, you can tow another 50 lbs of seeds, meds, supplements, honey, spices, vinegar, medical gear, etc behind the bike. In 5 minutes, you can remove the front wheel of a bike, rotate the forks, remove the handle bars pedals and seat. Then you dont need much of a hole in which to conceal the bike. Wrap it in drum liners, chain/lock it and cover it with brush. Hide the pedals some place else and nobody will bother to steal it. Amazon sells solid rubber bicycle tires. Being able to haul 3x as much and move 3x as far in the same time (as on foot, if on roads) is a BIG advantage, more so a year after shtf and 99% of the population is dead.
Bunker in and defend the fort I keep a Glock 19 on me and a get home bag for if im out at work. If i had to choose though : 1) Glock 19 2) AR15 3) .30-30 lever action
I've competed in world class combat handgun matches and believe me, folks. once the longarms come out, no pistol will amount to a hill of beans. So keep it very compact and lw, in a front pants pocket holster, single stack, one spare mag only. CACHE any more ammo you have for the pistol and same with any more than 90 rds of 223, or of 22lr, cause you wont survive needing more, not without a chance to clean the guns and access your caches. You want a shorty AR in 223, with a silencer, night sights, trigger job, scope OPTION, anti-cant bubble-level, free float tube and 22lr conversion unit. 69 gr hpbt match ammo for the scope, 60 gr softpoints for normal "work". The 60 gr Aquila subsonic 22 ammo are mosty for nighttime, 50m brainings, BB gun quiet, if you know to hold shut the 22's, bolt. You want one 30 rd mag with mixed steel core 62 gr ball and tracers, for engaging moving cars or choppers. Once you get clear of the city, you wont have much use for that one, so swap it out for some more softpoints from one of your caches at the BOL. If it's shtf, you can't be out and about in daylight, make noise or show a light at night. Doing such things will get you shot, very early on in the challenge. ASAP, you must dig a 10m long tunnel and stay in it for a year, while the 99% die-off. Come out only at night, only for an hour, to cook a meal, and scan a lot with thermal or passive IR, Use nail sandals any time you're withing 50m of a cache or one of your tunnel exits. Come and go from different angles always, so that you dont beat a path. You want 1-2 buried food buckets, so that you dont have to access the buried drum(s) very often and so that if a dog or human finds a bucket, you dont lose much.
For me, I'd be thinking a full size glock, at least a 19 for a backup pistol. Because they always go bang and mags are plentiful and common. And no need to conceal in a bug out situation. For rifle calibers.. probably my tavor x95, although my yugo m92 or an underfolder AK might be thrown in as well if possible. The x95 takes common AR mags and the 556. And very reliable. So it would probably be my choice over an AK. But to be honest, I'm having a hard time with this choice between the two of these. So it might go either way. For full size rifle, the galil ace in 308. Extended range and extra stopping power with the bigger round. For the hell of it, my budget choices would be still a glock for reasons mentioned before, a 10/22, and a wasr AK. One wild card that I thought of afterwards. Is that it would probably be a good idea to have a shotgun. And as much as I love a vr80. Those huge 18 round mags for it are more of a novelty than something realistic to be wielding around in a real situation lol. So I might lean towards the ts12. Although obviously depends on what you might own. As there's several very good defense shotguns out in today's market
I’d prefer my PPQ/ 1911 & 4595TS all in 45acp with multiple mags. If there is a weight issue I’d choose my 9ers in 92FS/ CZ75B with a small game harvester S/W M/P 15/22 reddot with six 25rd mags. Tho’ at 62 yrs, I’d probably barricade my self within this sturdy fortress with my trusty Marlin 30/30 Big Loop & my pistol grip 12g pump Stevens 320 tactical with 7+ months of fresh bottled water, pantry/ canned items & a variety of Mountain House/MRE chow. Or… 😂 lol: come & try to take it? Thanx Dan!!
I would bug in instead of out, but however I would go out to gather supplies when needed, so I would take my standard AR in 5.56, and on of my 9mm pistols. Now if i was going out on a hunt depending in the game would be one of my 12 gauges or 22LR rifles and a pistol in 40.
Ah Dan missed your videos :) As for you assumption I would agree with extar that is the lightest most reliable I have seen in the PCC market. I wouldn't do glock at all. Build a P80 instead it will be better as for rifle I agree Bullpup all the way. I have a Tavor X95 just for that purpose.
Well if I had to pick 3 guns like you picked (pistol, PCC, and rifle) I'd pick a Beretta 92fs, Beretta Cx4 storm, Ruger AR-556. But if I picked my own own firearms there's only 1 of these I'd change and that's the Cx4 for a Mossberg 500 (or Maverick 88)
Good video… myself I’d go with Glock 27 ( also have a 9mm conversion barrel so it can fire 40 or 9mm ) my Ruger 10/22 for quiet food hunting and it’s tough between the AR and my SKS but I like the 7.62x39 more than the 5.56 so I’d probably choose the SKS
Brother I know you got a lot of people to talk to but I value your opinion I got a Glock 21 Gen4 today 45 caliber what do you think about it are they any good
My vote is for the Keltec CMR-30 in that role. More likely for me is getting caught away from home so I keep "get home' gear in my car which includes a Keltec CMR-30 carbine and/or PMR-30 handgun in 22mag. I have an EP9, it is my bedside gun and is super light weight but so is the CMR and PMR and 22mag weighs a lot less than 9mm so I can literally carry hundreds of rounds. 22mag is not quite as powerful out of a carbine as 9mm but it is way more accurate and more suitable for longer range hunting or other work. I typically use the magpul irons but also carry a very lightweight 3-9x optic on a QD mount in the bag with the CMR, I put it on the same place on the rail and it holds zero fairly well. A 22mag suppressor is also light and compact, and even though it will never be subsonic it still masks the shooter's direction/location.
Though .22 mag is more than capable at 150 yards for hunting in a buyout scenario I’d not rely on a Kel-Tec. Firing pin in my CMR-30 snapped in half at 750 round mark…

AK pistol w/ primary arms slx scope, and Taurus G2C. that's it save the weight of the third option to offset for weight of 7.62
Solid video for pondering.
I'm at 9mm handgun Taurus G3 and my and an AR-15 in 5.56 with a 11.5" barrel. I like my AR9 but I don't trust it to have enough power.
Love my Extar!! I’ve had it for years now with no issues
3 guns I would use would be
1 Glock 45 MOS
2 ruger ar556
3 mossberg 590 shockwave
Wildcard would be Springfield hellcat with the 15 round magazines
Love it
My 5.56 fighting rifle, Glock 32c in 357Sig, and a quick change 9mm barrel, & mags just in case I run out. And of course, my Mossberg 500 with OO buckshot.
I'm grabbing my G17, Sub 2000 and Maverick 88. All 3 have never failed on me.
"If I could only choose one gun it would be a 9mm Glock" God help you and your family
@@pole_barn_builder Just out of curiosity what would be your one gun choice ?
@Prepare2Survive 100% Go with a SA 10mm XDM.
Nice choices. My 3 would be two 9mm: a Sig sp2022 and PSA AR9 10.5", and a KS47 (7.62x39 AR) for hunting/heavy combat
I was disappointed that you chose Gl💩ck Dan.
My list:
1) Mossberg MVP .308
2) Mossberg 500 12ga
3) Glock 34, 9mm
SKS. The best one gun for any and all purposes. All day. Any day. Every day.
9mm handgun
308 bolt gun for larger game
A spam can weighs around 26 pounds for 7.62x 39 other spams prolly will be different.
Beretta 92fs/Beretta cpx Storm/Draco pistol
Great choices I love your rifle choice. I don’t have that so I would pick iwi tavor x95, for a pistol that is so hard, I want to say Glock, but I’d probably choose the following:
X95 tavor
HK USP compact 9mm
Mossberg 500
For the lightest options:
SU16 (keltec)
Glock 17
Cr920
Thanks Dan! Happy New Year.
Glock 19, Remington 870 12 gauge and Ruger AR 15 pistol w/ 10.5” barrel
Good morning Dan! Good choices! Really great choices!
Enjoy your day! A further note....YOU and I ain't going to bug out!!
All of my bugout guns require at least a tax stamp if not an FFL3. If I’m bugging out I can guarantee I don’t have a tax stamp or an FFL3.
Excellent Choice. Doesn't get any better!
22 ‘s are always good bugout guns , can cary a lot more Ammo than any other caliber!!
I'M too old and disabled to "bugout, " I'll be buggin in. My kit consists of a Glock19 in a @caagearup MCK, and a Shotgun, And for longer distance, whatever rifle still has ammo.
Flux defense raider for pcc/pdw its extremely lightweight compact!
Yeah I like yours..... Mine would be my Glock 23 with my conversion barrel to 9 my AR and my shotgun
the biggest problem will ( probably) be lack of ammo that you are able to take with you
I have ammo cans loaded with dedicated calibers and then others loaded with mixed calibers/weapons to be supplied
bandoliers to wear etc along with ammo cans
But to me the reality is if the shtf you and neighbors better have worked out something b/c unless you already live "out there"
they are coming to lockdown the easiest first....the neighborhoods
excellent video
I would go with the ruger even though it's a little heavier
Very good info, thanks
Good stuff Tim
it's pretty quick and easy to dig a spiderhole, and two men can bracket the stop-point of a car ambush between them, 100m on either side of the caltrops, That gives them a lot of time and space in which to pour bullets into your car,, so you'll probably be hit by that barrage.
Bunker in and defend the fort
I keep a Glock 19 on me and a get home bag for if im out at work.
If i had to choose though :
1) Glock 19
2) AR15
3) .30-30 lever action
G19x ar15 and my ruger American 30-06
I’d go with a Glock 19 for concealed carry, Ruger 10/22 Takedown for small game, and an AR-15 for larger game/defense.
I have the PSA Dagger, Keltec Sub2000 G19 compatible and my 5.56 w/16” barrel.
Gonna have my G45 9mm, my St. Victor 7.5" in 5.56, my hatsun escort slugger 12 gauge and my crossbow.
Sig P320xc
Ruger 55.6 AR
Kel TEC ks7 12G or my Remington 870 tactical for bug out
Agree with all your picks and the hellion looks awesome 🔥🤘
You surprised me when you picked the Hellion. but it does make sense.
Bugout ready I am. But for me only as a last resort. Good stuff thx dan. God bless, 🙏✝🇺🇸✝🙏
The extar reminds so much of a 9mm version of the Bushmaster Carbon 15
Full size pistol-HK P30. Back up pistol-Glock 43x. Rifle-AR-15 build.
I agree with G19. I would of took either the Ruger PCC or Mossberg Shockwave. And then the Tavor X95
I’d go Glock 19 (easier to get mags), AR in 556, Bow living in florida we have a lot of short range hunting and fishing.
One word outstanding
Good video… myself I’d go with Glock 27 ( also have a 9mm conversion barrel so it can fire 40 or 9mm ) my Ruger 10/22 for quiet food hunting and it’s tough between the AR and my SKS but I like the 7.62x39 more than the 5.56 so I’d probably choose the SKS
Hope that you never never have to bug out!
G43x with shield arms mags. .22 /410 over and under and that's it.
Brother I know you got a lot of people to talk to but I value your opinion I got a Glock 21 Gen4 today 45 caliber what do you think about it are they any good
Yes, they are great. I had one and traded for an HK45.
Thinking my Ruger Super Blackhawk 44mag. (44mag because why shoot twice). My Mossberg 500 and Henry 22 levergun.
I live in Bear country… so I’m going with a Glock 20, a Mossberg 590A1, and a AR 10. I’m sure I can fit my CZ scorpion micro somewhere too.
Good video thanks man.
dagger works great as well.
Nice choices.
Thanks brother
👍 nice choices
