A song that's a musical and emotional rollercoaster. Starts off softly then BAM! Then gets soft in the middle and then again BAM! Their collective creativity and musicianship is unmatched by anyone EVER.

Hi I'm fan black sabbath and deep purple and my favorite guitarists Tony iommi and Ritchie Blackmore and Jimi hendrix and like uk metal bands like Iron Maiden and Angel witch .
When I listen to Ritchie Blackmore playing the guitar like a cello, from around 5:00, I see the unique advantage string instruments have over other types of instruments. Its notes are flexible, not restrained to one same 'do re mi's because it works with strings. And I think Ritchie Blackmore really makes use of that advantage by using appropaite vibratos like when violinists play the violins. The guitar just sounds beautiful!
When I first heard it, I thought he was using a violin bow. I have DVD of them in concert Ritchie did the cello sound on The Mule and he is making that sound with his finger. Personally, this is Ian's best drumming. So controlled with subtle variations. To think they regard this as their worst album. For most other groups of that era, it would be their best.

The MKII had this long backside song on each of their albums. Phantastic songs. Child in Time on In Rock, Fools on Fireball, Lazy on Machine Head, and Place in LIne on Who Do We Think We Are. Fools was never played in concerts until 2000 (at least I have never seen any videos of Fools in concert before Montreux 2000). A shame.
We did see Fools performed live as an encore on July 23rd , 1971 at Pirates World in Dania , Florida . Deep Purple performed before Rod Stewart and Faces . Their set list was Speed King , Strange kind of woman , Child in time and closed with Mandrake Root . I heard Fools for the first when they as the encore .
Second time back as a purple fan and subscribed . I wil leave much comments on every album , song , solo , performance etc . Firebal is purple s sgt pepper . You have folk , progressive , rock n roll , heavy rock . Gillan is Amazing on firebal . What a voice this tallented man got . Lord is the driving motor , and clover with his outrages bass solo on firebal . Ian paice hookes you in with his drumbeats . And ofcourse the man in black plays like a guitarwizard . Mk 2 is the best line up ever . Imagine , Gillan got kicked out , and they needed 2 great singers . What does that say about Gillan ? He could sing so much different styles , Period . Listen at jesus christ superstar , accidentel on purpose and ofcourse ian Gillan band with tormè and collin towns . And so much more . Pardon my bad english but i had to Express my feelings on this epic band .
When I was around 5yrs. Old I was at a friend's place, playing with his toys. I picked up this colourful metal box and noticed something sticking out the side. I started to crank it and was excited to hear gentle music coming out of it. :) Well, you know what happened next. That frikin Clown scared the CRAP out of me!!! (I had never seen a Jack in a box before). Fast forward to 17yrs. Old. A friend invited me over to listen to a new album he had recently bought. Sitting up close to a big speaker (As teenagers do) that was cranked up pretty loud, I listened to this unusually soft music which was a bit unusual in comparison to the songs that preceded it. I relaxed and started to listen, expecting to be bored. You know what happened next!! I jumped way up into the air and came down with my fists clenched and my eyes Bulging out of my scull !!!!🤯 My friend rolled around in larger for quite awhile. I've loved this song ever since 🤗

Great video. What would you prefer? An original film of the song, which may not exist, and if it does, may be not as good as the studio version and will be awful sound quality, or an HD studio version with no visual but the album cover? Both those are great too, but so is this, the original studio version with original Mk II band, though only slightly synced. Great stuff for possible THE most underrated Purple song! Not by fans though of course. I just wish my local golden oldies radio station in Sydney would play it. Christ will return before that happens though.
My personal number one. Their best song, better than smoke on the water, better than child in time. It's their disstilled essence. One song to sum all their work in their best times. I has it all.

You have folk , progressive , rock n roll , heavy rock . Gillan is Amazing on firebal . What a voice this tallented man got . Lord is the driving motor , and clover with his outrages bass solo on firebal . Ian paice hookes you in with his drumbeats . And ofcourse the man in black plays like a guitarwizard . Mk 2 is the best line up ever . Imagine , Gillan got kicked out , and they needed 2 great singers . What does that say about Gillan ? He could sing so much different styles , Period . Listen at jesus christ superstar , accidentel on purpose and ofcourse ian Gillan band with tormè and collin towns . And so much more . Pardon my bad english but i had to Express my feelings on this epic band .
When I was around 5yrs. Old I was at a friend's place, playing with his toys.
I picked up this colourful metal box and noticed something sticking out the side.
I started to crank it and was excited to hear gentle music coming out of it. :)

That frikin Clown scared the CRAP out of me!!! (I had never seen a Jack in a box before).
Fast forward to 17yrs. Old.
A friend invited me over to listen to a new album he had recently bought.
Sitting up close to a big speaker (As teenagers do) that was cranked up pretty loud, I listened
to this unusually soft music which was a bit unusual in comparison to the songs that
preceded it.
I relaxed and started to listen, expecting to be bored.
You know what happened next!!
I jumped way up into the air and came down with my fists clenched and my eyes
Bulging out of my scull !!!!🤯
My friend rolled around in larger for quite awhile.

Great video. What would you prefer? An original film of the song, which may not exist, and if it does, may be not as good as the studio version and will be awful sound quality, or an HD studio version with no visual but the album cover? Both those are great too, but so is this, the original studio version with original Mk II band, though only slightly synced. Great stuff for possible THE most underrated Purple song! Not by fans though of course. I just wish my local golden oldies radio station in Sydney would play it. Christ will return before that happens though.
My personal number one. Their best song, better than smoke on the water, better than child in time. It's their disstilled essence. One song to sum all their work in their best times. I has it all.
