Thank you I finally have the weather alarms to stop interrupting whatever channel I am on. I spent big bucks at a CB shop to have them make it stop to find out later it still did it.
Love my SR-955 radio, seems to be pretty stable on 10 meters , better than my Galaxy DX-99v and has a lot of extra features, plus the 70 - 80 watts of power is great...Thank for great product.
Good full feature review on this Cobra 29LX I wonder how well these radios receive & transmit. Definitely sold on its looks & features also wonder about its durability & price since it doesn't have SSB I wouldn't want to pay too much for it.
I've had one for about 7 years now. The receive is average, better than some but nothing to write home about. On Transmit it's actually quite good, pretty typical of a classic 29. Durability is pretty good, recently had a shop check it out and he found some cracked solder joints but it still worked fine, I have some knobs that are a little rough feeling but I'm sure that can be fixed if they were to be cleaned. I also had an echo board installed and had the talk back turned up to make it louder, also it's been peaked and tuned. I can regularly talk 10 miles with it with my willson 5000 mag mount.
@Mike-m2q I've heard it's a very good radio but I've also heard that the screen dies on it sometimes. Right now for my base I'm using the Anytone At-6666
Hello I have this same radio I have it all hooked up and the Swr all in good shape but as soon as I turn the squelch from open to close it vibrates uncontrollably I don’t understand. And also with the squelch all the way open when I try to do a radio check over the mic I can here it vibrating and it also does the same through my pa speaker when I switch it to that. Do you know what the problem maybe ?
Poor/ Low Voice Reception You receive transmissions, but they are garbled, very quiet, or otherwise hard to hear. Check Microphone Connection Spread the pins on the radio out a little to ensure a better connection. Check Squelch Adjustment Turn the squelch all the way counter-clockwise. You should hear static. Now turn it back clockwise just until the static stops. Switch To Active Channel It is possible the CB users transmitting on your frequency are very far away. Try another channel. Check CB Antenna Connection/Cable Make sure the CB antenna and coax are connected properly. They should be screwed in tight with all caps and weather protectors in place. Check Ground Connections Make sure the CB radio's ground wire is connected to a good chassis ground in the vehicle. Check SWR/CB Antenna Connections Check for a high standing wave (see How to Tune a CB Antenna). Check the antenna and cable for shorts and continuity. Tune Your Antenna When people contact us regarding issues, one of the first questions we will ask you is, "Have your tuned your antenna?". If your antenna is not tuned, it can cause all sorts of problems! Every CB antenna needs to be tuned to optimize your CB system and ensure that you won't potentially damage your radio. Check out our awesome Help Center article How To Tune a CB Antenna to learn more. Check CB Mic Connection/Plug/Cord Make sure your CB mic is plugged in securely. Check for breaks or damage to the plug and cord. Check the pins in the radio for damage as well. Check RF Gain Control If your radio has an RF gain control, make sure it is turned all the way clockwise. Try an External Speaker Your speaker may be bad or going bad. Try using an external speaker to eliminate this possibility. Check Battery/Power Connections If your CB radio is not connected directly to the battery, make sure the fuse panel or extension wire it is connected to has a good connection to the battery.
WTF!? Were you filming this on a ship during stormy weather? That POS camera you used, introduced considerable distortions during movements, I hope you've upgraded since then.

Dear Martin, Thank you for contacting us! Was the antenna tuned? If so, What are your SWR readings on channel 1 & 40? If the antenna was not tuned to the vehicle you may have high SWR which will damage a radio over time.
I had 2 of these radios. I bought brand new. I had 1 for a month before I gave it away and the other, I sold on ebay. The radio is garbage! You be better off getting a regular Cobra 29 WX Night Watch or the Uniden 880. The radio is not made to stay on for a long period of time. I asked Cobra and a cb radio tech, why the radio is popping like fuses blowing inside and why it loses the settings? They have no clue. GO FIGURE! The bottom line, the radio is trash!!!

@Mike-m2q if you don't have any interest in doing SSB, yeah. But for a base I highly recommend something with SSB

Does it plug into the cigarette lighter?
Any CB can be set up for the lighter plug but you will get ignition noise.

What if the power output does not pass, but the voltage and antenna do?
The power test confirms 3.3 to 4 watt power output. If the test fails, you are outside those limits.
I get an antenna warning
