I went bourbon hunting in Atlanta for the Holidays and oh did we score some great bourbons.
I hope you enjoy the hunt for these hard to find whiskeys.

GF and I got into whiskey over the past couple of years. Of course everyone's taste/palate is unique but for us, in general, the preference order seems to run: Scotch, American single malt, rye, then bourbon. We've done extensive blind tastings and a graph of price vs. "what we like" is basically a scatter-gram, i.e. zero correlation. One of the best bourbons we've had has been Kirkland Signature SB (Costco store brand), 120 proof for about $20/liter. Another good one is Benchmark FP, 125 proof for about $20/.750L For reference, we've tried many, many pricey ones (e.g. Blantons, EHT, Peerless, High & Wicked, etc.) and have gotten to the point of "whiskey price fatigue." Our days of paying triple digits for booze are in the rear view mirror. But the "hunts' have been fun and it has been a good experience doing the blind tastings; I'd recommend that anyone who's into whisky should try it.
BTW, we like that Frey Ranch rye you picked up and the bottle right next to it on the shelf (Leopold Bros, BiB bourbon) is also one of our faves, it's unlike any other bourbon we've ever tried, very malt forward.
Next time you need to come to Canton, Ga.
