How is it that a current is flowing through the wire even though u have a volmeter fitted there, which wud ideally have infinite resistance..???

A voltmeter is based on a moving iron meter in which very small current flows. So technically the voltmeter does consume some current.

How does oxidation and reduction just occur? A substances needs an oxidant to be oxidised but there's no direct contact between the substances so how does this work?
