Aretha. Franklin was one of my customers when I worked at Saks Fifth Avenue, in Troy, Michigan, during the mid ‘80’s to the early ‘90’s. The last item that I sold to her was a dyed Fox jacket. She was a beautiful soul. She was gracious, considerate, down to earth, and extremely respectful.

I believe she was in love at that moment in time. sometimes as women that can indicate of how we are feeling at the time. I would say that she does look nice, for myself I'm starting to look more deeper into Aretha her past and things that I never knew about her course. I just recently looked at the genius Aretha, I feel that it was something that needed to be talked about. I want to talk about the success and all the good but the bad I mean people have lot of things that goes on in their life good and bad and that what makes Us special. I have some case things in her past growing up explains up who the person she was or is. Much respect rest in peace.

She NEVER wanted to give up that crown
I love and appreciate even more now than before -- but now I also know she had it rough in her personal life and she never wanted to let on or let go of center stage ( thus Guarded eg questioning her feels like people walking on eggshells imo)

Aretha Franklin will ALWAYS be a Special Part Of My Memories. I was raised up listening to her music because my Mom and Dad were singers, and my Mom was a pianist. Anybody older than me I had to address them as Miss or Mr. so I def understand the concept of rendering respect to my elders...HOWEVER, all them folk look just as old as her and it’s only because of who she was that you would deem it “disrespectful” that somebody would call her by her first name. Pretty much: SHOWING RESPECT OF PERSONS. At the end of the day, Ms. Franklin was a human-being and went to the grave like we all will.

I did not know she was on this show. As a light sculptor from the Show Me state, I grew up in the church like she did. She is the Queen of sculpting music through the filter of the Soul. Even her blues puts fish hooks in the ear only the way that art can! If I can be half as good as a photographer as she is to music, my life will be complete! I love that she plays by ear. I can only capture and create by light. Thank you for sharing!!!!

@Roma Erb/ I'm sure you're a beautiful photographer. Light is the law of life & art & love. Light is the way, believe me. Everything in the universe is based on the play of shadow and light - illumination and darkness. You can't have one without the other. As for Ms. Franklin, she was one of the greatest singers of the twentieth century, a giant among artists. Her life was a blessing bestowed upon us. She was God gifted and God sharing.

So here I am, and because I love history, i decided to check out the Genius Aretha series...i was never an Aretha fan...she was before my time, but she did have a hit with one of my favs George Michael in the 80's when I was growing up, so i knew of her. Thanks to modern technology of streaming i discovered Genius...and i realize not all is true in these bio-series, ala The Crown and others, but Aretha's story has gotten to me, and i want to know more. She was a true Genius, a musical genius with lots of inner turmoil but with lots to offer the world, and in spite of her troubles in life (her father, losing her mom, etc) she stayed strong and never stopped shining. Can't wait for her bio-pic to be released later on in 2021...by the way, let's see who does it better: Cynthia Erivo or Jennifer Hudson. Now let me get back to her music 🎵🎵🎵. Long live the Queen.
