Aso said the same thing. Do NOT use a string or rubber band. He recommended
wrapping a towel around it, but that would seem to take longer to dry. I wonder if gauze, or something like it, would be better.
Also, he said to use the hot water method only once in the life of the glove. And it is good for any leather glove. Thanks for the video, take care.

I use ace bandage that has Velcro, works perfectly.
Do you use any glove conditioner afterwards? I just used this technique on an A800 my son got today. Right now it’s got a ball wrapped in it until tomorrow. He’ll be playing catch with it tomorrow during his practice session,can I repeat the hot water technique again? Thanks for sharing this video! I would appreciate your input
Good question Dave I was waiting for his reply also, I am going to use Nikona Glove Condotioner on my new Glove after it drys ovenight I can not see a new leather Glove left un conditioned either etc.
Aso says that he does not use the hot water technique more than once. Thus, you should use it at the beginning of the break-in period and then use the other techniques that Aso recommends after that.

Will the color bleed on wilsons? Have a re palm and white binding and don’t want it to bleed into the binding

I just got a all black with red laces will it stain?
Just tried this with the Sierra Romero A2000 softball glove, which is navy, red, and gray. It seems to have helped a bit with the stiffness, but the navy and red colors bled and have stained the gray areas. Disappointing, especially considering that this was not a cheap glove. Just wanted to let others who may be thinking about trying this know.

I did this with an all white glove with black laces. The black bled and now my whole glove is purple, no white to be found.
For goodness sakes YES!!! If you put water on the leather you must oil it afterwards. As a former player and have owned many pairs of work boots, water is hard on leather and over time without oil it will crack.
Oil holds in the glove making it heavier. Water-based conditioners will treat the leather better without adding weight.

No hot water to white or colored gloves. Also I wouldn’t use a rubber mallet (black rubber can stain) get a small 3 to 5 lbs rubberized dumbbell. I cover it in a white sock, to minimize damage. Also soft surfaces between ground and glove. If you wet a blonde or tan all black you can wrap in a towel and go to town on it with the dumbbell weight. Just my 2 cents! 🥸
Would a black glove count as colored? Or are u talking like white red blue

Aso would not approve of this. You need a soft surface in between the glove and the ground so you don’t do damage.
the fake turf is soft enough. its better to have a mat but its fine
After it drys do you oil it ??

Leave it... make sure to put a ball in it and wrap it the way you like it pink to thumb or pink to index. let it dry in room temp and then play some catch..

This Aso technique is used to break in professional players gloves. There's videos of mlb players telling Aso how they want their glove broken in. I just wouldn't use a rubber mallet.

@A11am3r1can where do you see a professional baseball player in this video??? Dude is using a rubber mallet made for woodworking. Always use round mallets. I'm no expert but based on your comment I am more knowledgeable than you. 🤣
I would never use hot water or steam on a glove unless you don't mind possibly ruining it. I always break mine in the old fashion wayand never ran into any issues like you will using water of any sort!

Ridiculous tip. Yea, Aso does it this way, but he’s breaking in new gloves for players who trade them out every few months. For those who would like to keep their glove for at least a few years, this accelerates breakdown.
Tip, use a product you would use on your own leather (e.g. your skin) like a high quality lanolin... keep a ball in the pocket... and play catch... unbelievably simple... works...and won’t ruin the glove.
Would you through a baseball at those though?????
Most MLB players use their gamer glove for at least a season

Everyone I’ve talked to says do NOT steam or pour water on a glove. Terrible video!
