Keeping you in my prayers and I am so grateful that you felt comfortable to share this. I suffered several losses last year that threw me into a horrible depression. I sought treatment through my primary doctor, found a wonderful therapist and psychiatrist, and after six months of treatment and medication, I am feeling more like myself again! I did not sew at all last year. This year I have completed three small projects as well as teaching sewing mastery guide classes at my local Bernina dealer. I have some work to do, but it's so great to be facing the sun instead of the shadow.
The right medical team makes such a big difference, right? I’m so glad that you are well on your way to happy and sewing stuff. How cool that your teaching others great sewing tips too! I’ll admit, I don’t use nearly all the fun features that my Bernina has. I have to get that together after I figure out how to thread my Jukis. 😂
Oh Mari. That rabbit hole is dark and deep. So glad you got the help you needed. Your spirit is bright, glad to see it shining. ✨✨Thanks for being brave and sharing. ❤️🧵
Hi Mari, that shirt dress is so cool and you look great it in it. Can't wait to see the travel bag when it's done. I'm so glad you are back and feeling better. It's really great that you knew when to seek help and you are helping others to know that it's ok to get help and they don't have to deal with it all on their own. Thanks for sharing. We all missed you btw 😊❤
"Buddy, I'm filming and you're naked." Priceless mom moment. Thank you for sharing about your situation. It is hard when life knocks a person off course and it takes extra effort to move back into positive headspace. I'm glad you are moving in a better direction. Blessings!
It’s so good to see you back again. Love your shirt dress. Your bag is going to be fabulous, can’t wait so see it. So glad you are feeling much better, I always so enjoy your vlogs as your so bright a bubbly. Stay happy. 😂🧵🪡🇦🇺
Hi Mari, it’s so great to see your smiling face! 🥰 Love love love your new top, and you look FAB in it! I’m loving all your leather craft, the wrap belt…perfect! I’m looking forward to your travel bag! 🧳 I’m so sorry that you’ve been suffering, and I’m happy that you are getting better. I’m going to pray for you. 🙏🏻❤❤ Hugs, Stephanie 🥰🥰
Your shirtdress came out spectacular! I LOVE the leather details. The belt is the perfect touch. 🧵 I'm so sorry you were going through such a difficult time. I'm happy that you found good help 💕. I can't wait to see you again in March - I'm really looking forward to it. I love you Mari!! 💕💕💕💕
Hello, Mari. Your shirt turned out so beautifully, that leather elevates it soooo well! Can’t wait for your review. Thank you for sharing your heart with us, I know those can be hard topics to share with others but it’s so amazing that you might help someone else who is struggling with the same thing. You are an amazing creator and so important to our Sewing Community! Happy Sewing❤~Tiffany
I feel your journey (mental health). I have been a hermit for 4 years. Sewing 🧵 has saved me. Always trying to give to others. Your videos give me JOY!!! Blessings to you for pulling me out of my rabbit hole ❤️🙏👗👗👗👗👗
Hi Mari, So glad you are back and doing better. You have been such an inspiration to me since I came across your channel. Can’t wait to see the travel bag.
I'm a fellow traveler and I am so glad to hear you have gotten the help you need to get to a better place in your life. You are also blessed to have friends who check in on you and keep it real when you're low on hope and energy.. You're an amazing, dynamic creator and I think you have a lot of courage for talking about a disease that many people don't understand.
I cannot wait to see your bag! Depression is terrible. I too experienced this some years ago, got help and medication. I know the signs now and have not had experienced this since. We need a creative outlet. Keep sewing and positive thinking. 🥰
Mari, you continue to be so inspirational and you tackle issues on your channel that need to be talked about, well done. I just want to give you a massive hug right now but I'll save it for the Expo ❤🤗😂. You are so fortunate that in the US help is readily acceptable for issues like depression and that you can easily access it. Sadly not the case over here and far too much stigma attached to it if you do. So glad to see you back and wow you have the most original leathery ideas 😁. Take care 🌸x
Glad you sought and are receiving help. We can all benefit from these tools when the curveballs come our way. You are an amazing talent! Belts in fun colors would interest me. :-)
God bless you! I also have had depression in the past. It's not fun, but so glad you knew what to do! Glad to see you making videos again! Hope you continue to get better!
Mari. I am so glad to hear that you're on the mend. Wishing you more bright and sunny days 😎. On another note, I think your carry-on luggage will be fire, and I can't wait to see the results. I am also a belt person and wrap belts are my favourite.
Such a cute dress! I personally despise belts because the buckles always poke me & they’re usually unflattering on me. That peplum belt is unique. Love the color. Definitely not for me because HIPS 😬 Would be really cute on someone with a long thin build. Kudos to you for seeking the help you needed to feel better! So glad you’re back to making videos/feeling creative again. 🎊 I was having some physical health related depression that has kept me from sewing for over a year. I recently turned a corner on it and made some baby shower gifts. Such fun! 😍
I had never heard of a peplum belt, that is so unique! So glad you addressed the depression. So many of us have suffered with this and as for myself, I knew I also needed professional help too. Thank God you and I are both in a positive place now!! Looking forward to the leisure wear!!!!
Oh Mari! I am sorry to hear about what you've been through but so very glad you are getting help. This is something that needs to be discussed more and open about it. I have suffered from depression and have gotten some wonderful help from therapists. I pray you continue to heal and move forward with this❤❤
Hi Mari, New follower here. My church is participating in DAG. I’m busting with excitement as we start making dresses. I found your channel and found it very helpful. I also suffer with mental health issues and just haven’t felt this good in awhile. Prayers and positive thoughts coming your way :)
Oh Mari, how good is it to hear your story,I went through the exact same thing and had to take a month off from work and get professional help myself, thank God I shared my a few of my friends ,and they did exactly what you said, they called me and pushed me to move, I have suffered with anxiety, but this was different, I didn’t want to,move and the thoughts that going through your head,I didn’t want to do anything. Hearing you talk about it brought tears to my eyes to know this mental health is real! LETS GET BACK TO SEWING, by the way, I did push myself to do stuff while I was home and I completed all my dress girls dresses already. just waiting to get some labels for them. Let me know when you have some available. Thank you love, Michelle.
I’m so happy that you got help and are in a better place, too. So many people just suffer through it and don’t take action until it’s too late. And yes! It’s time to sew 😁 I can’t believe you’re done already! I need to get going on mine
Girl, you've been busy! Thank you for sharing EVERYTHING! I really appreciate your honesty. When I was in my darkest moments, there wasn't anyone for me. Though we don't actually know each other, your light & energy has been a big blessing to me. Also, that blue with the lining will be dope! Thank you for the video and for the transparency.
I guess it has been busy around here 😃 I felt it was important to be honest and open. We all deal with so much and sometimes it’s helpful to know that others have to seek treatment too. I’m sorry no one was there for you.
Depression is a horrible beast. I am so glad you recognized something was not right. I would add that sometimes you may not know someone has depression but if you see behavior changes counter to how they normally are reach out to them. And yes you may have to say "gurl or dude get up n wash your butt". Happy to see you are getting to the other side. Wishing you the best and look forward to hearing the details on the shirt dress.
Depression is such a horrible illness, it’s sucks every ounce of joy from life. So glad you’re on the mend Mari. I did notice that you hadn’t been on for a while but I find it difficult to know what to say to check in with people 💞💞💞
The shirtdress is amazing!! I don’t have a waist so I don’t usually like to wear belts, but when I do, I like to wear them on my upper hips so I like the ones you can angle down if you know what I mean. Thank you so much for sharing with us what you’ve been going through recently. I’m really glad you are now in a better place and taking care of yourself. I’ll be in Lakeland in March for the Expo and I really hope to get to meet you in person!! 💞
I just loved the shirt dress with the leather trim. You knocked it out of the ballpark. So sorry to hear all you’ve been through but glad you got the help you needed.
Your son is just adorable and your response was hilarious 😂. I can’t wait to hear more about the dress. Thank you for sharing about your challenges with depression and grateful you have good support, friends and in a better place. Appreciate your message about how to help. Enjoy the sewing expo!
I am so glad you are feeling better. The weekender bag is going to be so cute! I live in Mississippi and am going to Lakeland for the sewing expo. I hope to meet all you girls there.
I’m so glad you are feeling better and more like yourself again. Depression is a beast. I have suffered with it my whole life and have been again lately. I feel like I’m missing from my own life. You bring so much joy to people. I’m glad you’re on your way to bringing it back to yourself. - All your makes are gorgeous. I LOVE the peplum belt, and the hat with the snakes. Fabulous. And the shirt dress looks great on you. The leather accents are so stylish. And your son…so adorable. That made me laugh out loud. I hope you have a good week. I’ll be thinking about you.
Thank you so much. I really think that medication has helped me turn the corner. I’m wishing you the best too. Sebastian definitely knows how to keep things interesting around here. 😂
Mari you do such an amazing job with leather and your shirt dress and gorgeous! I feel what you're going through, I slip in and out of depression myself. I try my best to guard myself from negative people or comments, I even have to step back for watching TH-cam, as I don't always feel I can measure up. Take your time to heal, because we all love you and will always be here for you! Take care of you before taking care of us. My thoughts and prayers are with you, my friend. Hugs xxx
Thank you. I completely understand what you are saying. The comparison game can be brutal. I also stopped watching videos for a while. It was audiobooks and trashy tv for me 😂. I do feel like the leather gives me a new creative outlet to explore and my creativity is definitely working it’s way out of my head. Take care of yourself, as well. Hugs. 🤗
I am totally loving that dress with the splash of leather 👏🏻OMG where were you a few years ago when I was lost in the sauce making a leather vest for my brother?! 😳I could have used those tips 😂 ( I still consider myself a beginner sewist but, I was even newer then. I would never have tried working with leather but, my brother wouldn’t leave me alone about trying to repair his favorite vest. 😳 I repeatedly told him I didn’t know how to do it. Soooo… I went to Joanns and got all the materials 😤😂 it didn’t turn out too bad… except when it came to putting in the zipper 😂🫣🤦🏻♀️ thank God he doesn’t zip it 😂 Mari, so glad to see you back 👏🏻 and so happy to see you found your smile 😊😇 can’t wait to see more of your makes ❤ T/C
😂😂😂"Buddy I'm filming and you're naked!" Girl you are one of the smartest people I know. When you see a problem, you attack it. Most people (myself included) would wallow in the wallowing. You dragged yourself up and started heading out of it. I admire that so much. And that belt! Count me in for one when you get it the way you like it. And that dress. I love it! Inspiration to creation, you knocked that one out of the park. And that bag - I cannot wait to see that waxed leather. I think the rayon will work the way you described it. Mostly I cannot wait to see you. Is it March yet? xoxoxoxoxox
Hi, Mari. Thank you for braving the channel again and for sharing a glimpse of your difficult struggle. It strikes me that even if we are doing what we enjoy, physical and emotional fatigue take a very large toll on us. Your September last year was amazing, but don't push yourself beyond what God enables you to do. You are precious, and not of more value just because you are pushing beyond your limits. I do speak from experience here; I am understanding something of where you are, but I know I don't have the full picture. You are gifted but not made supernatural.
Thanks so much for writing. The PDAG event wasn’t what did me in, I experienced something at work that sent me into a downward spiral. I’m very much looking forward to this upcoming September. It’s such a feel good.
Love you Mari! Thanks for being honest. Lots of us have this happen. Just know that you are such a light in our sewing community. You have been such a huge influence on me and I just send you love and blessings.
Mari, l watch all your You Tubes. You are such a joyous, inspirational person. Your shirt dress with leather trim is PHENOMENAL!! Thank you for sharing your journey with depression. I've been there, also. I'm so happy you're feeling more like yourself. I was just thinking this week, l needed to get started on dresses for the " Dress A Girl" project. You did such a GREAT job spear heading the project. God bless you always!!❤️
Thanks Donna! That shirt dress makes me feel like I’m on top of the world when I wear it. And, now that I’m thinking about it, I need to get an early start on Dress a Girl!
Your creativity and talent is amazing! I am In awe of your leather work ! It’s all so beautiful. Please show us your Calvacade bag when you are finished. I have followed Sara@sewsweetness for a long time.
All your makes are incredible ❤️❤️❤️ those machines are amazing you are going to love them. The bag will be epic. Can't wait to see it. You have a very unique style , so talented. Very brave to talk about your journey. Take care
Funny you are talking about belts! I was going to ask you about belts the next time we talked. Color me interested 😃. Great save on the hat band. Would never know it was a make it work moment.
Good for you seeking help for your depression. Been there, done that! I'm happy to say that I no longer have to take medication anymore. I feel so much better now without them. 😊 There isn't the stigma anymore about mental health issues and depression. I never hid my depression from anyone, never pretended I didn't have a problem. You take care of you and don't worry about your YT channel. Your subscribers are still here and happy when you post a video, regardless of how long it is between postings. You do you!!!
Yes to the peplum belt!!! Just want to let you know that i pulled out your card case at the bank and the teller loved it. I made sure to let her know where to get it #inspired leather. Sending lots of love from NY to you Mari
You had a flasher??? LOLOLOL... Cute! I love the bag design that you're planning to make. I am glad to hear that you are doing better these days. Life is a work in progress with many different hurdles along the journey. Take care of you! I am so hoping to join up with you gals on Friday at the Sewing Expo. I'll be there taking classes all day on Thursday but I am planning to return on Friday for a while, too.
I think Project Dress A Girl, plus your channel, plus the leather shop on top of everyday life may have been too much and gave you burn out. Don't feel you need to make a weekly video, or always make something challenging and new. Be kind to yourself.
Thanks. Although I need to find balance when September comes around, what I experienced wasn’t burnout. I experienced something very specific at work that sent me down the rabbit hole and was hard to come back out of.
I am so glad you listened to your body and addressed your Mental Health! Sewing is therapy for so many. THANK YOU for sharing.
Keeping you in my prayers and I am so grateful that you felt comfortable to share this. I suffered several losses last year that threw me into a horrible depression. Soooo… I went to Joanns and got all the materials 😤😂 it didn’t turn out too bad… except when it came to putting in the zipper 😂🫣🤦🏻♀️ thank God he doesn’t zip it 😂
Mari, so glad to see you back 👏🏻 and so happy to see you found your smile 😊😇 can’t wait to see more of your makes ❤ T/C
I can’t believe I missed this comment. Your brother really had to ask for something special, huh? 😂😂😂
You are a champ for being transparent about your struggles. I totally understand and have been there. Take care of yourself. You deserve it.
Thanks Sue. So many of us have been there but I’m happy that we made it through to the happier side.
Glad to see you and continue to take care of yourself. Loving the dress and looking forward to your makes.
Thanks Mary! I’m really excited about getting behind the sewing machines again.
We missed you!
Thanks. I missed you all too!
Is it March yet? xoxoxoxoxox
I really appreciate you so much. I can’t wait to see you too! We’re going to have so much fun
@@MariSews You certainly do an outstanding job on helping us participate in a worthwhile project! Glad you also enjoy doing it!
Love you Mari! Thanks for being honest. Lots of us have this happen. Just know that you are such a light in our sewing community. You have been such a huge influence on me and I just send you love and blessings.
Thank you Natasha. I receive your love and blessings with open arms. 🤗
Thank you. I sure will show the calvacade. 😃 It’s coming together beautifully
Blessings my friend.
Thank you
All your makes are incredible ❤️❤️❤️ those machines are amazing you are going to love them. The bag will be epic. Can't wait to see it. You have a very unique style , so talented. Very brave to talk about your journey. Take care
Thanks! I’ve been chomping at the bit to start using those machines. They’ll make things so much easier.
Funny you are talking about belts! I was going to ask you about belts the next time we talked. Color me interested 😃. Great save on the hat band. Would never know it was a make it work moment.
Thanks. I’m hoping to get these new machines figured out this weekend so that I can do some fun sewing!
Thanks Dori. I definitely needed to take a break for a while there. I’m feeling much better now tho. I’m hoping this upward trend continues.
@@MariSews Will be praying for you!
Yes to the peplum belt!!! Just want to let you know that i pulled out your card case at the bank and the teller loved it. I made sure to let her know where to get it #inspired leather. Sending lots of love from NY to you Mari
Thanks Rory. And doesn’t that peplum belt look really edgy and stylish? Also, big thanks for spreading the word. I really appreciate it.
@@MariSews I'd buy it for sure!!!!
Awesome! Maybe we’ll have some of the same classes on Friday. I’ve packed them in. Can’t wait to see you.
Happy to hear that you took the right steps and that you’re feeling better! I hope to meet you at the expo in Lakeland!!
Hi Suzette! I think it’s going to be such a great time. See you there for sure
Suzette!!! I made you something so please find me at the expo. Also, I’d like to personalize it. Do you go by a nickname?
@@MariSews That’s so kind of you ❤️
No nickname 😊
My husband made the exact pork pie hat you made.
They’re such a great project. I bet he loves his
So glad you are in a good place now. Have a question where did you get your from I am praying for you
Thank you. I didn’t understand your question tho :(
Take care of you ❤️
Thanks!
How do you wash your shirt because of the leather?
Spot clean
Belts! I can’t wear belts. I have no waist!!!! Literally no waist between my upper body and my lower body. I am the original Apple body shape.
How about a sexy garter belt? 😉 oh, now I’m getting more ideas!
@@MariSews now you’re talking! Although, I’m not sure my 70 year old husband could stand anything that sexy.😂🤣😂🤣😂
😂😂😂
I love you... sweetness..sew like the wind...
Thank you. 🥰
Hi. Cute top you are wearing. Pattern number?
I don’t wear belts, as my waist is too big. Darn…
There’s always a garter belt 😉
The only kind of belts I can wear are contoured.
Oh, I don’t think I’ve ever had a contoured one, but it makes sense. Now I’ll have to take a look for one.
