WDM-3D and WDG-3A whose power are less than a typical WAP-4/4A, WAP-5/7 are used because many Loco in this case are pretty old and their manufacturing is too decreased in DLW Varanasi as most of the tracks are now Electrified so their traction effort is decreased and cannot make quick acceleration and many of them are rebuilt and repainted from previous old versions. so Dual Diesel Alco are used unlike WDP-4/4B/4D EMD Diesel Loco’s which are mostly single and sufficient for long hauled traction and are under series Production in DLW Varanasi
Even in a multi-unit configuration, engine cab of the lead engine is in the Long Hood forward. Long hood forward is known to affect visibility. Even in EMD, dual cabin like WDP 4D are preferred.
