    Their drummer and bassist are one of the top 10 rhythm sections of all time. They play so tight and tastefully.

    Having watched almost every Ego Death reaction vid, I have to say this is far and away my favorite reaction. 🙏🏼
    Your vivid, colorful and tangible descriptions were on point in painting the picture and watching you just _get it_ and really feel, and move, and react to it immediately was an absolute joy. 🖤

    I feel like "ego death" works really well for this song as the individual voices join together into a gestalt where the I isn't there anymore.

    There’s something so satisfying, wholesome and joyful watching someone who is clearly vibing hard with a song. Absolutely loved your commentary on this man, it’s so great when a song just connects with you like that and just grabs your imagination. Keep up the great work!

    I believe his name is Ivan from the band Brasstracks, who has another feature on the upcoming album.
    Absolutely incredible song. They really take you on a journey through their whole catalog stylistically. Absolute masterclass. So much groove.

    The intro is full of sentiment, I love how it makes my hair stand up and it gives me all kind of warmth yet sad emotions. The last part! The trumpet yanks them tears from eyes from time to time, depending on what state I'm listening, this is just beautiful! An emotional journey, I would say some parts feel hard, you can feel the heavyness, like a character going through different perils to finally being legend. The last part feels victorious! DAMN MASTERPIECE!

    Your stank face the whole song was me as well the first time hearing it. Love your analysis as always. This song to me is split into 3 parts. It shows off Tim's skill, then Scotty then Steve. Each one is on the throne. These guys are just simply incredible, glad they are getting the recognition they deserve finally.

    I've got goosebumps listenin to this track y'all...
    Just to share and to note with y'all out there...
    *“Polyphia”, comes from the word, “Polyphony”, meaning: “music whose texture is defined by the interweaving of several melodic lines” Playing off this definition, as a band, we capitalize on musicianship, and that, musically, each member of the band is a cornerstone of our sound.*
    The God of Guitar meets the Polyphonic God and masters of their creation. Salud from me in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and happy listenin y'all...

    Trumpet is from Brasstracks like you said! They have a feature on the first song of the album and this is the final song, so it opens and closes with Brasstracks

    I love how the whole video is polyphia climbing the building to Steve Vai and then at the end they are all looking up at the guy playing trumpet. It just feels like they are saying that like yes this is our style but it’s 100% from jazz and black musicianship that a lot of their inspirations come from.

    • @c.odubhlaoich2948
      @c.odubhlaoich2948 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jazz was a mix of west African rhythm and *classical European* music. So if you're going to bring up "bla ck people made jazz" then say the full details at least.

    • @c.odubhlaoich2948
      @c.odubhlaoich2948 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, the trumpet player isn't black if that's something you are implying

  • @ChildishDanbino

    This song being last on the album is perfect. Brasstracks is on the opener “Genesis” and then comes back to send us out on the final track.
    Seen some people saying this could be biblically themed. Genesis at the beginning. Ego Death at the end. Trumpets sending you off and then welcoming you home as the album closes. Remember That You Will Die.

    Man..... Idefk with these guys at this point. I listen to this and I'm just like "That's actually fucked up. That's genuinely fucked.".....
    I hope to one day understand and grasp even a thread of what these guys do... The thought that I could one day implement a similar organized chaos is very appealing... I can catch the drift and vibe they do and think of little baby bits and cadences, but it's crazy to think that they don't just theorize this shit with pen and pad and math, they execute it, with immaculate texture too. Insanity.
