Pushing Gundogan out to register a player like Dani Olmo is just shambolic. First we signed a player for €62m in this financial condition, who missed 68 (SIXTY EIGHT) games in the last three seasons, for a position in which we are stacked. Then, we get to know that we can’t register him.
And now, we are forcing Gundogan out of the club of all the players when he was literally our best and the most consistent player last season. Barely missed any game last season, was very effective and he is the ONLY midfielder in our team who is not injury prone and is consistent in his performances.
And we are offloading him to register Dani Olmo who is not even half the player of Gundogan, will surely miss at least 50% games if we are lucky, when we already have so many injury prone players in that position in Pedri, Gavi, Fdj etc.

Fdj missed more than 4 months of football last season. Yes, those might be just contact injuries but that doesn’t mean that you can count on him to be available for 50+ games.
Even with all the players fit in our midfield, we still don’t have a DM.
My whole point was that first we signed Dani Olmo, a player which we absolutely didn’t need, who is injury prone.
And now, we are pushing Gundogan out (who was our best and most consistent player last season imo) to register Dani Olmo, who is not as good as Gundogan and he can’t even guarantee availability.
So, signing Olmo didn’t made any sense and now to push Gundogan out for Olmo just shows that the people at the top are not competent.

Imagine pushing out the best midfielder you have on the team. The only one who wasn’t injured and played everytime the coach needed him. The best possible profile who could help Bernal and Casado grow and be better footballers. Gundo is being sold because his contract would have higher wages towards the end, similar to what lewy/de jong is earning now. He is already 34 rn, and would be earning 25 million + at the age of 35. Would it make sense to give a 35 year old 25 million + yearly? His form can dip anytime in coming years and giving him high salary then, would again be a problem. Take lewy for example, he was great in 22-23 season and then in 23-24 season he was not good even for 50% of the games. Now, barca fans want him out. So, use same logic for gundo too... If his form dips exponentially, we would have another liability in our wage bill.

Forget what Gündogan said to Güler during the pre season but a reminder that Flick's system relies heavily on relentless pressing without the ball where Gündogan doesn't add anything as he doesn't press without the ball. Lewa is already a liability but there are not many options for the ST position. On the other hand, Gündogan plays in a position where Barça has a lot of surplus & those guys can press without the ball which is really important in Flick's system. Offloading Gündogan saves the salary space as well as removes a player who doesn't fit tactically.
