  • I'm almost two years full-time so will be able to apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate in the UK. This is something I really want to do as soon as I possibly can, so I downloaded and printed off the documents to see what it's all about.
But my god. SO. MANY PAGES!!!
** Disclaimer: I do not own the footage of the television show at the end, all rights remain with the creators of that footage. Thanks! **

    Hey!
Can I just say how inspirational all your videos are. I can see how much of a difference you are making to people who may need help or support through their Transitioning Journey.
I'm not Trans myself but watching your videos definatly gives a better understanding of people who are transitioning and what sort of support is out there for them and how other people can support then through their journey too.
It's nice to see some positivity around on TH-cam now a days. I will continue to watch your videos on your journey.
Sorry if my comment sounds a little weird but I just had to say how amazing you are and how amazing your TH-cam channel is.
I hope I haven't offended you in anyway by messaging you.

I haven't started my transition yet but GRC seems really daunting 😰 why do they make it so bureaucratic and intrusive I'm really hoping they change the GRA

Superb information Amber but very frustrating to see how much they want from us. And I am tempted to apply but maybe once it has been simplified. Love the outro BTW. I acquired my gender in a car park in an ice cream van lol 😂

    Good luck with that XD
I'm only about a year and half into my transition so not too bothered about a GRC just yet, but it's interesting to know a little more about it. Seems like a massive pain in the butt. Hopefully the trans community get some love from the government at some point and this mess can be sorted out somewhat, although it seems the anti-trans lobby always manages to stall/halt any progress :/

Here in the US and depending on which state you live in here and the Psychiatrist you happen to be seeing, it's about 1-year for GRS.

i just celebrated living as a full time transgender woman just 2 days ago at been 2 years as female, and I just applied for the GRC today and im waiting on getting all the paper work through the post, but damn I never knew there was so much to do just to change our gender on a damn piece of stupid paper and to get reconised in public Im kinda thinking now that this is pure discrimination because it should be a lot easier to change than this?.

Its not a difficult process nor a difficult process ….. the guidance is large cos it goes into detail should you get stuck. The medical section is a short questionnaire with just a few yes/no tickboxes, the evidence you provide to prove you live in that role isnt much more the you would provide to employers or bank, the form you dont fill all sections in. Most applicants make mistake of thinking they need much more evidence than required, of course it asks questions about date and place of birth it gets you a birth certificate stating correct sex on it … note I said sex a birth certificate doesnt say gender. Oh and for info your national insurance number, remains the same, your gender marker with inland revenue changes, and no one has access to this .. not the security services, nor any employer
Oh yes if you look on the form it give an address and telephone number, you can ring them and they are brilliant with help, and will keep you updated about how your application is progressing
Yes there is a one off fee of £140, most decent solicitors (Notary Public) wont charge for the oath you give.
One more thing if you have lived in the role as your "aquired gender" you will have more than enough evidence, because many documents need to be changed legally to your changed name .. driving licence, bank accounts, passport, car insurance, sky, utilities etc… THIS IS YOUR EVIDENCE

the cruelest part if still married is the veto of the other half to say yes, ultimately ending up having to get a divorce, ive been lucky to have a supporting wife and daughter who have made this possible for me to apply for this, still awaiting the faceless legal eagles to see if successful, advice is to start collecting as much bills and evidence as soon as possible, don't leave this till the last minute.

It is crazy having to prove that you lived female or male for at least two years. I could lie, how would they check? I could just present as female when I have to and be male the rest of the time. Unless they spy on me, have video cameras and microphones planted in my home how are they going to know whether I am telling the truth or not? I might just be a very good liar.
Anyway what does it mean to present as female? Am I only female if my face is covered in 2 feet deep make up? A lot of cis females don't wear any make up at all, are they not proper females? Or wear female clothes? A lot of cis females like wearing men's clothes, are they not proper females? It is stupid the hoops they got in place surrounding everything to do with transgenderism. Why can't I just say to my GP I am trans, can I have some blockers and hormones please? No, I got to be referred to some damn clinic and jump over all the hurdles and go through all the hoops and wait up to at least 5 years. No wonder a lot of trans are self medding including me.

Done the application recently. As I'm born in Romania and also have gender recognition in Romania i used the overseas track. I've lived full-time for 10 years.

I've been full time almost 12 years and I was told at the time to wait until surgery before getting my GRC and now that I failed to achieve surgery It's far too humiliating now to even attempt the get a certificate.

Decree nisi and absolute are divorce papers. Unless you are divorced you won't have these.
