Just a little update Harry, in the French media Saliba is now the main central defender and the pillar of the French defense.

Saliba is top notch 🎉🎉 He has shown that he can play LCB, RCB and as well RB if need is there.
The only problem with Calafiori is that we are talking about 40m for an LB/CB when we just spent 30m+ for Timber. So, surely, priority wise, is this someone we need to pursue, and surely there are depth players we could sign for much less.
If Onana was available for less than 40m I still think he would be a great option almost purely based on his physicality. Though obviously a Rice 2.0 would be the perfect addition. Maybe even a better offensive version of Rice. 😂❤
We also paid 35m for Zincheko...
William Saliba is at that level that some games he provides no surprises and sometimes gets taken for granted. I don’t know if he is better than Rudiger but I would say no one is clearly better than him.

What if Arteta is not planning to buy a 6 (since He's already given an extension to Jorginho) but instead planning to use Jurien Timber in that defensive midfield position and move Rice further forward to the number 8 position.
Reason he's trying to buy Ricardo Calafiori to play that left back position.
The problem we have with our fans is this idea of ball progression in central areas we need cover for rice who's played so many mins since 2021 i see him as that cover my issue with him is rawness in his game but his ability to carry the ball from deep only rice does it also I won't be surprised if timber plsys in the middle
The problem with our fans is that 99% of them know nothing, have never been to an EPL game before and have 115 excuses for why we haven't won anything for 4 years on the bounce, like a 25 year old £105m signing who's apparently 'world class' on £200k pw has "played so many mins since 2021"

Would love Califiori, think he could play left back for us, like Ake and Gvardiol have for Man City
Also think he could even potentially replace Gabriel in time as I think hes better on ball, ive always felt Gabriel wont be Artetas long term choice at centre back. Even though hes been brilliant
People keep saying Timber left back but hes always been right centre back or right back at Ajax. Weve seen with England the limitations a right footed left back can bring. And at Arsenal we have 2 right footed left wingers too, so its even more so. Weve gotta get that left side functioning more next season
On the Italy to England thing yeah most top players stay in Italy, but if Tonali can move from Milan to Newcastle, then Califiori can defo move from Bologna to Arsenal 😅

Can't help but feel that our name is being used regarding these Calafiori links to get Juventus to pay the asking price just like Locateli all over again
More links with more defenders , albeit very good ones… but we need so much more across the front three and midfield if we are to finally topple City .. defenders just aren’t gonna takes us that extra mile COYG
Harry, with the strong performance of Saliba in the Euros and the past two seasons, should we be concerned that the likes of Real Madrid or PSG might come sniffing around the Emirates?
Nobody on the Belgium team impressed during these Euro's and that mainly is caused by the useless tactics from the manager. Rice wasn't great this tournament either, but he had a massive season for Arsenal.

No question Saliba is number 1 in the world
Who cares if Saliba is the best CB in the world. All that matters is that’s he’s great for Arsenal (and France) and if we win football games when he plays. And preferably enough to win major trophies. I don’t get the whole one-up one ship of trying to claim we have better players than other teams. Am I missing something?

I am not opposed to Onana. I just feel like we don't have the funds, nor the time to do a "January window". Onana will make our midfield stronger, but he won't complete it.
I think that's were we as fans are suffering every summer: we never feel like we completed our squad

Especially after Edu told us all that 'qualifying for the CL generates huge income and attracts world class players" 2 days after the club announced a record £57m annual loss and a 10% increase on ticket prices for next season.

Raya is not good enough, he's in the bottom 5 of PL goalkeepers but if they waste 30M there'd better not bleat about no money they'd better spend, I'm not taking any excuses.
