If you own gamepass and have a friend or family member who also wants it the shareing gamepass isn't a bug, they intentionally made it where you can share the subscription with others, as long as you trust them with your account to sign in with it you can let them share it with you, but if you can cancel the gamepass and the other account still have access to the games, that's definitely not intended.

This is called gameshare with Xbox. The first person becomes the home console. That person goes to another console and downloads the games. It doesn't have to be on game pass as long as the first person owns the game. The other people that use that console can play those games. @@absp2006 you can. i have the gamepass for more than two years and always paid 1 dollar. you never have to pay more than a dollar. since release of the xbox app lol
I think the game pass is tied to the hardware signature of the pc instead of an account. This would allow it to be shared in a house hold of multiple kids.
Close, there are actually TWO different account roles. The first is the "store" account, and the second is the main account. It's the same as game sharing on Xbox. In the Xbox/gamepass app for PC you have the option to sign into a different store account. Anything you purchased on that store account will be playable for anyone else on the PC. It works for gamepass as well as other PC games you buy. Once you stop paying for gamepass on the store account, no one will be able to play gamepass games on other accounts.
It's same on Playstation. If your ps3/4/5 account owns a PS plus you can play multi-player on another account, on the same console or even stream PS plus premium games etc. It's normal lol
@@thespiffingbrit achievement unlocked: *get reply from The Spiffing Brit* But honestly it's because the payoff isn't worth the hustle, because the exploit gets fixed pretty quickly most of the times. But it's still entertaining to watch someone do it
THEORY: Microsoft is allowing this so that people who didn't previously use game pass will download a bunch of games, then they'll fix it, making those people want to continue their subscription.
To clarify, this is INTENTIONAL, its family sharing in nutshell, it works great on single player games meaning that once you install them even if the pass runs out you will be able to play them forever as long as they are installed on your PC. THIS DOESN'T WORK ON MULTIPLAYER GAMES, at least the ones that require xbox game pass gold or ultimate, once pass runs out on the account you are sharing it from the game displays "You need to renew your gamepass subscribtion", Ive been doing this to play sea of thieves for very long time so just to mention for people to know.
Except on pc it doesn't work properly, let's say you are actually using Microsoft Family Safety to monitor you children's usage and managing their time. They have their own Microsoft Account linked to their Windows 10 account, you would think that If I purchased the game pass ultimate those benefits will be passed on to my family as registered via the Microsoft Eco system. Nope doesn't work, it only works if you use a single computer account and each individual logs onto their own xbox live account when they want to on that single computer account. It's like 2 separate teams have come up with a brilliant idea, and no-one has joined the dots yet, hence why I will not be renewing my subscription once the £1 period is up. I can share my whole library on Steam of I so desired to Family members, with some limitations, but generally I don't play at the same time as the kids any way.
No way this stuff's intentional. Sure, sharing between accounts like family sharing is OK. But *keeping* the game, long after the subscription of the original account is over? That just can't be right.
The system that's used in this video is basically the PC version of the "Home Xbox" settings for Xbox consoles and microsoft accounts. If your dad's account owns the pass on the xbox and it's set to be his home xbox, then the whole xbox is set to have those bonuses. This applies for all subscription options from microsoft. Gold, Game pass, and game pass ultimate will affect the entire system that is set to be the home of the account which owns the packages. Like to spread the word. This is an intended feature, but obviously not intended to be used between households
Yeah, it seems like this video is almost counterproductive, since it might ruin this functionality for people that are using it normally by pretty much encouraging people to abuse it.
As someone who's used this system with a friend since the xbox one came out essentially, there's some major differences between how it's supposed to work and what Spiff has going on. For one, if the home xbox user cancels/runs out of gold or game pass, the other accounts don't get to keep those benefits/games like Spiff said happens here on PC. And of course changing the home xbox would remove those things too, which would mean you couldn't have 50 people all use the same account to get the benefits. There's definitely something funky going on with the PC gamepass here.
I think we can use this to get the games on the console itself too, not just PC. Isnt it possible to log into "GillBates" on the Xbox and download "her" games there? Log out, log into main account and play it? Or is there a system in place?
There are two Xbox that I own in separate places. Even though I never login on the other, the accounts there can download whatever, but they lose access to games that leave game pass. I think if I cancel my game pass, they will lose it as well. I don't even think the "exploit" in this video even exists in the way Spiff thinks.
late, but another neat trick is that if you pirated/got a trial of a game like on steam when grounded got several trials and connected your xbox account to them, after the trial it'll say that the games are available to play and install on an xbox if it's the same account. edit: tested and it does work, was able to play grounded, minecraft dungeons, and state of decay 2

@@BigGrinner Yeah to be clear, that is a terrible speed, even just the modems that Telstra give out for their plans are meant to get 45mb/s, assuming that Telstra isn't being Telstra about it.
Another trick is that if you bought a laptop with game pass 1 month bundle preloaded on the computer, you can simply factory reset the pc and restart the trial like it was never used
I remember when this bug was still a thing and my friends and I had accidentally discovered it. We were playing long sea of thieves sessions altogether as I was sharing my gamepass with them! But when the bug got patched I was unable to use my own gamepass games for over a month as microsoft thought that my account was still on another PC (one of my friend's) when in fact we checked and it wasn't, thankfully the support helped me out.

Apparently it still works today, downside is you lose the games if you ever uninstall them, it'll be good for those "leaving soon" games 😉 oh I mean, I can't wait to buy game pass! 👼
There is another variation of this exploit that only happens on the consoles: You keep Xbox Game Pass/Ultimate/Live Gold/EA Play user logged in and switch to your main account WITHOUT LOGGING OFF THE USER THAT PAYS FOR THE SERVICES and you can enjoy those services on your main acc
I'm pretty sure this is actually working as intended, cause it's a hold over from the Xbox account sharing feature basically, if you set ANY xbox to your home xbox, ANY account on there can download ALL of the games you owned this exploit is MUCH bigger than you think Spiff, literally ANY game you own, not just Games Pass games, can be bought once, then downloaded on any system
Except you can only have one home xbox at a time and you can only change it about 3 times a year. Not only that but as soon as that xbox is no longer the home xbox for the account, you lose access to the games. Dope that this works for PC, but not as crazy or big on Xbox. Basically limited to 2 xboxs.
Was thinking the same. Feels like Microsoft will spend the 2-4 weeks of engineering time to fix this once the losses cost more than the BAU costs. In other words, fairly soon.
A reason Microsoft might not have fixed it yet is because they’re already taking heavy losses. It’s a strategy to make sure nobody buys games from any other platform. This exploit just helps that even more.

i did the same thing with minecraft for windows 10, i gave my friends my login, and then they downloaded it, logged out my account, then logged into their account and then played minecraft. this has worked for 3 years (or more)
This still works to this day btw… I think Microsoft understand that cheap people will be cheap regardless so if this didn’t exist people would still not buy the game so there is no real point in fixing this when there is nothing to gain from it.
@@TheBlencoeBoys I think on Xbox the account with gamepass has to stay on the xbox but it doesn't need to be signed in. I have the gamepass on like 5 accounts on my xbox and only my main one owns it.
Love to see it! @@reposter6434 Might have phrased it poorly, I asked ONLINE friends that i knew for quite some time for their accounts so i could share library. not steal accounts.
I mean once the main accounts GamePass runs out no one will be able to play it they restrict access once the main account stops paying. Im convinced Microsoft paid Spiff to get more people to join GamePass (I’m not opposed its a great system!)
This method also works for Playstation as i used to own both. As long as there is one account who has an active subscription, all the other accounts can enjoy that sub as well. A great example is Microsoft as they have released GamePass, it's only 1$ for a new/fresh account. Now i figured that whenever the sub runs out, i'll just create a new account in stead (as this permanent method in the video does not work anymore). Sign-in with the fresh account and download/install any game. Switch over to your main account and, voila. Sony/Playstation basically handles it the same way. Use the subscription account to buy, download and install games for cheap or even free and switch over to your main account to enjoy these games. Also, online IS included for both systems. Like i said, as long as there is at least one account who has an active subscription, you are set. This method/environment is been around since XBOX 360/PS3 times.
@@Mohamed-ql1fk Correct. Any account you create, your main account will have the benefits from it. As long as the temporarily account has the subscription for 1$.

Who else just watches him doing exploits for entertainment and doesn't actually do it on their own?

Why the fuck is everyone saying the same thing on this video
To clarify, this is INTENTIONAL, its family sharing in nutshell, it works great on single player games meaning that once you install them even if the pass runs out you will be able to play them forever as long as they are installed on your PC. THIS DOESN'T WORK ON MULTIPLAYER GAMES, at least the ones that require xbox game pass gold or ultimate, once pass runs out on the account you are sharing it from the game displays "You need to renew your gamepass subscribtion", Ive been doing this to play sea of thieves for very long time so just to mention for people to know.
Yeah I heard him start to explain and was like wait, I read how to do this on their official website. My brothers and I have done it multiple times.
No wonder i still had forza horizon 1 even after game pass went bye a few years ago
Wait really? thats pretty epic
@@TribonRA Then abuse it yourself. Microsoft has underdelivered in many ways, you don't owe them allegiance because they don't give a fuck about you.
