Hinata is just peak man. In a story literally built on it's characters. Where literally everyone is a great character and there's a LOT of characters, Hinata still shines the brightest and proves why he's the MC time and time again. He's a lesson in perseverance for anyone. No matter how hard whatever it is you are doing, if Hinata can make it, so can you.
Oh but what Washijo said reaaaaally hit Hinata like a truck... He did get affected by it... But, as he said in the hoshiumi game, he's since long known
So I recently found out this is in fact Volleyball and having been inspired by this video and the community surrounding it I decided to play myself although I could not find kneepads to put on my knees much like Hinata put on his knees which explains why Hinata isn't wearing two casts like I am but instead has knee pads on his knees and not two casts instead. Can't wait to play Basketball again when I heal. Much safer for me I think.
The whole point is that he isnt talented. He is just a hard worker! He had to work on his jumping ability and even after that he got lapsed by kageyama and had to train on his own for 2 years
I completely looove your analysis, it's beautifully worded, I just have to disagree on the smallest point, the "Washijo giving up his dream" part, I see it as the opposite. At his time there wasn't even the libero possition, the game wasn't as dynamic, so truly he had no way as a short person to succeed, no matter how hard he tried, but he still found a way to be part of the sport he loves. So I see him as not giving up but looking for any path that will allow him to continue, and he became such a succsesful coach too, meaning he put a lot into it. Had we followed Hinata through a time period like that instead of current time, then I completely believe that the "happy ending" would be of him becoming the best coach, even with Hinata having that same passionate and hardworking personality. And another note, Washijo was a ball boy, eveything he learn to become one of the best high school coaches in the nation was through that, so I highly doubt he doesn't see how valuable it is to be one, which is why I don't agree when others make it seem like it's another point to show Washijo's close minded personality for short players (I know you didn't comment on this, but I find it important)
I disagree. Washijo lamented his height and even says volleyball is a sport made for tall people. But when Hinata defeats his team he realizes that there are ways for short people to win. He puts so much stake in hinata because hinata represents everything Washijo gave up. There was always a way to succeed if he kept at it. But being a coach at least kept him in the sport he loved
@@LateNightSausage But that's the thing, it wasn't about not trying, it's about the sport at the time having no way for short players. It wasn't like it is now, he geniunly had no chance at the time, he was unlucky to be born before the game became more dynamic, kind of like how serves before were just a way to start the game, and then it evolved into such a powerful and diverse attack. Before it truly was about height, even profesional players comment on it. Of course he would lament his height, if it were up to him he would have prefer to play, had he been born now I truly believe he would have acted like Hinata, which may be why he still accepted Hinata in the camp despite Japan in general being so strict regarding respect, you would expect Washijo, since he is old schoool, to also consider it disrespectful and tell him to go, but he doesn't because he understands that hunger Of course, his mentallity doesn't hold now, although I kind of agree in a high school setting, like it was commented by Akiteru, and because of the constant change of the players. And even the story doesn't shy away from always saying that, for the most part, volleyball *is* a sport of height. Like the national coach says, or Nekomata choosing Lev over Inouka because he was slightly taller, even Ukai wanted Tsukki mostly for his height, before he started showing his true potential. Of course now there are more chances, but my main point was that Washijo didn't give up, on the contrary he made the absolute most of his situation. That's it, all the rest, whether he wanted to help Hinata, hated short players or such, can be debated, but what I really wanted to say is that he didn't just stopped playing for lack of trying I can give it to you, that his view of the sport now is kind of outdated, although I still feel him making Hinata a ball boy was intentional, since he knows how important it is (whenever he would yell at him, he would tell him something like to watch closely, which is exactly what gave Hinata better understanding of the information on the court) Sorry, I tend to write a loooot, I'm not saying you have to agree with me, but it's important to get into perspective and view it from that time period
@ I understand but not much has changed from Washijo’s era. In todays world volleyball is still about height. Hinata and hoshiumi were both overlooked because of their height. But both these players trained harder than anyone and more importantly never gave up. Even before hinata and hoshiumi it was the original little giant that changed the course of volleyball for short players. Before him no one thought short players could fly. All it took was one person to not give up and to show the world that it could be done. If it wasnt for the little giant maybe hinata wouldnt have played. But washijo had the same choice that the little giant had but washijo gave up. You can struggle and fight to the end but washijo didnt give up. It wasnt the time period that was different. Volleyball has always been a sport of tall people but all it took was one person breaking through to inspire others.
I feel like you've kinda overrated Hinata's skills, he never was Kageyama's equal. The only thing that allowed him to seem this strong was his sheer drive and willingness to compete with kageyama, he never wanted to lose to him, no matter the discipline. But if we had to compare them as volleyball players, Kageyama was miles ahead of Hinata, he was more skilled, more precise, he had a better understanding of the game, a henwas a better defender (receives, blocks). Like if you really think about it, Hinata was never even close to Kageyama, and that's why Washijo didn't want him, he recognisez that Hinata was benefiting from his partnership with Kageyama a lot more thab the other way round. In HS, Kageyama would have been an elite passer no matter where he went but Hinata needed Kageyama to become who he is. Which makes his journey that much impressive honestly. Anyway, great vid, always fun to see people talk about Haikyuu
@@Gikstraw I think at the beginning of the series Kageyama and hinata were equals. Kageyama was held back because of his arrogance and pride as was dubbed the king as a result. Kageyama had great skills but was limited because he didnt work well with others. Hinata had speed stamina, and the ability to hit balls with his eyes closed just based on feel. Which I feel is highly underrated. But when kageyama teamed up with Hinata thats where both of them bloomed. But it quickly became where Kageyama learned how to be a better setter which led him to completely outpace Hinata fast. From the first episode they were pretty equal but then kageyama very quickly overtook them. At least thats what I think

@@tommyortega7796 I actually think kageyama and hinata were equals at the beginning of the series. Kageyama was immature and didnt rely on his team therefore limiting his play. Hinata was a ball of athletic talent and together they drew out each others talent. Then kageyama went ahead. I got confused with the tournament in the manga thought they only went one more time. And hinata went in to the camp humble and willing to do whatever he could to be there. He wasnt trying to take anyones thunder as per his conversation with his coach when he got caught
I like the video idea but you made so many errors recalling events lol or are just straight up wrong re certain observations, making very liberal assumptions/interpretations of events. Yeah I said they went to nationals but they were only able to get 3rd in nationals at their best. What events did I recall that were incorrect? Also what were my liberal assumptions 😂
@LateNightSausage thats not what you said in the video. Also youre misreading what i wrote. I said hinata and kageyama were comparable maturity wise at the start of the series. That is how children are. Your video framed it like they were similar in skill and then kageyama pulled far ahead which is simply not close to true. Hinata grew a lot mentality wise, but as far as skills go his mechanical skills were only starting to truly develop vs kamomedai. Kageyama was a nationals level setter before their minus tempo attack due to his training and drive. You also said in your video they went to nationals only one more time after. Honestly, not a big deal but if youre gonna post content like this at least make sure your comments in the video are factually true, and frame opinions as opinions. You may have meant one thing and said another while recording, thats fine and human error happens. Dont be defensive when people mention it cause you need to be open to the fact
