Great video on the dsp! Its a great starting point to put towards learning how to tune. When it comes to dsp I’m def a beginner so any info is always helpful. I need to get to k-fest for some trainings! HAHA
Great amps! Keep in mind, these are over 4 years old.... Kicker came out with this before the JL VXi, Fix, Twk, Tun, before Audiocontrol's amps, before anybody really had DSP in an amplifier.
@@RCFlyer85 The "42" in that model number indicates Kicker's 42nd year in business. They're currently producing "46" series amplifiers. So yes, 4 years since iQ release. (4 years 5 months) And you can bet they were in development and beta testing a couple years before that.
Do factory head units have hard coded time correction (like they do with EQ and bass roll-off) that would need to be taken into account when running aftermarket amps and speakers through a DSP?
Hey guys I have this amp the Kicker IQ1000.5 and have been recommended to change amps to a four channel Focal FPX4.800 and Focal FPX 1.1000 the installers then mentioned they would install a Helix Mini DSP....... The changeover is lots of $$$ What do you guys recommend about this new setup? Currently have AVI splits in the front and rear of a pickup and a 12 inch sub. If I stick with the Kicker IQ1000.5 I would want to add another amp for the 12 inch sub.... can this be adjusted then through the Kicker IQ1000.5 - would probably get the Focal FPX 1.1000 amp they recommend. Going overall for exception audio quality and thumping bass. Thoughts please.....
If you need to ask, you are going to want it in standard mode. Network mode is for running active (tweeters are amped on separate channels from the woofers).
Little help guys 911 I have a Lci2, Epicenter and the 43CXA12001 for my 2 Kickers 43CWR122 and the problem is that when I put the volume to 15 ( maximum 32 ) my amp goes to protection. Any idea what is going on? My friends said that I need a different amplifier.
My guess is undervoltage. Can you link us to the exact wiring kit you got? And I hate to say it, but it applies here, CHECK YOUR GROUND. Bare shiny metal to metal. No paint, primer debris. Grab the ground and yank it. If you can move it, it's not tight enough. That amp can pull 100A of current. It's no slouch.
@@firebirdude2 I have 0 gauge for the big three. 4 gauge for the Capacitor and the amplifier. My ground is perfect, I clean and remove the paint from my seat bolt and I don't have pain on it. I think my next step is change my alternator.

Are you sure these are that old? Seems like all the ones I see are pretty new. Particularly looking at the 42IQ500.4

When doing time alignment with components, do you measure to the mid bass in the doors or tweeter in the dash?

Which DSP will bring back my center channel? My DNX8120 finally faded away and I feel the loss of that vocal channel.
Does this work well with factory radio unit or should I go with the Key amp?

This Kicker DSP amp would be really perfect if the EQ was parametric instead of graphic.
Is it necessary to have an amp for tweeters or component speakers? Or an extra battery for a crossover?

@@josemopar708 Is your wire CCA or OFC? Even with the best wire in the world, it's meaningless if your alternator/battery has no balls. :)
44:12 tweeters arrive faster because they're more directional? Things that make you go hmmmm.. ?
