  • The ability to make fire is a primal skill which is fun, empowering and can really come in handy when the chips are down.
This is a simple DIY project to make a simple fire starter kit.
Cotton Ball fire starters make easy tinder for flint steels and other sparking devices. When prepared with petroleum jelly they will burn ~5-8 minutes.
    MATERIALS REQUIRED:
    - 8-10 Cotton Balls
    - Petroleum Jelly
    - Container (pictured is a candy mint tin)
    - Spoon or other utensil for scooping
    - Paper towel for clean up.
    TIME TO COMPLETE: 5-10 Minutes

It's way easier if get a candle or coffee warmer and melt the Vaseline and just dip your firestarting materials in it then dip them in some melted wax to make them waterproof

Survival Out Doors that’s a great tip. We were trying to keep it simple, but definitely will give that a go! Thanks for following along.

@@dragoonunlimited5819 it's more simple and it leaves less of a mess to clean up I use a couple of old tuna cans or something similar to put the wax and vaseline in so I can melt them easier I also put wax paper down so I can turn out 30 or so firestarters easy you'll just have to refill the vaseline more than wax and after I'm done just put the lid back on the cans and put firestarters up and throw away or add that wax paper to your next batch of firestarters you make all you really need to do is unplug the wax warmer or coffee warmer that's pretty much it
