An expert grower told me to put them in the smallest container that their roots just fit into and that tip turned my culture around, now I have to cut mine out of pots as the root systems are so healthy and big.
TH-cam recommended your videos for a rewatch! Hope you’re doing well and come back soon. No rush though! I remember watching your videos when I first got into houseplants and you inspired me to get a wider variety of genuses 😊❤
what a success story! thumbs up to having the patient to film the before and after of repotting - it's rare to see videos like this with 4-month time span and this is so helpful to see. thank you, Erika!
Nice to see another video Erika, I still want to get a paph but I haven’t seen any for the past year. The 2 that are blooming are my favorite colors of paphs.
Erica: always good to see a new video.👍 I gave my orchids a deep soak (and drain of course) since I've always been a superficial waterer. You have some beautiful orchids there! Take care 🙂 🪴
Thank you Erica. Just when I thought of repotting my orchids, I saw your video. I too neglected my poor orchids and did not water them regularly. I lost a few as well. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Erika! I noticed that after repotting, the media looks real dry. Do you often left them get that dry before watering? Despite that, the roots are amazing!
I switched to either only mineral substrate or sometimes even just water several years ago, never look back^^ no more fungus gnats, no more overwatering, no more old substrate waste^^ I can definately recommend^^
I have some orchids planted in all sphagnum, you just have to water differently depending on their medium. I have bulbophyllums & Phal dendrobiums in all sphagnum. If it’s not your cup of tea tho you can add in some bark or switch it out completely w bark.
Hmm a few different places. One from the LA Flower Market, one from Lowes, one from Armstrong Garden Center, two from Orchid Fever, & the rest from Norman’s Orchids. I haven’t bought any online

The last orchids I got were planted in straight spagnum, is that right...?

Where did you buy your paphiopedilum orchids from?

Those plants are suffering they will all most likely die unfortunately.
What makes u say that
Why do you throw your old medium away?
I threw away the organic part & kept whatever kind of stone was in there. Maybe it was perlite?
