    I currently own one of these ,and currently trying to buy another one ,they sound great ,and play great ! I don't think they will hamper your full size playing either ,great for older players too!

    I've just ordered one of these for myself. I haven't owned a guitar for a couple years and I miss rocking out. I'm a casual player looking to resume at a fun hobby. The smaller size of this guitar hugely appeals to me for its easier playability across the neck and having a long term shoulder injury makes it difficult for me to stretch down to the lower frets on a standard sized guitar so I'm hoping this will be better.

    • @TheGuitarNinja
      @TheGuitarNinja  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      that's awesome. I wanted to keep this for myself instead of giving to my student as it was super comfortable and fun to play. i bet the shorter scale length will help with the shoulder for sure.

    • @CalvinlovesLucy

      @@terryf5131 Hi, I'm not a guitar expert, but I would say this....The pickups are fierce...it's definitely made for rock/metal. A lot of people say it won't stay in tune...I think that's mostly because they haven't stretched the strings and might want to tune half a step or so up to get the tension...Mostly, I think it's technique...if you bend a string even a small amount, the guitar will sound out of tune, especially if you play a chord...however, the short scale and thin neck, combined with the pickups would give anyone looking for an occasional thrash a good time. My son like is to make a noise with. Hopefully this helps.

    • @terryf5131
      @terryf5131 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CalvinlovesLucy Yes!! Thanks for the response...very helpful..the thin neck is what I was looking for...my son turned five last week.. he's a drummer like me..I got him a jr. Ludwig kit he loves..he picks up my ukelala too.. but my guitars are all WAY too big for his little hands. This sounds perfect..and it comes in the GECKO GREEN' PJ Masks' color. Again thank you.

    • @CalvinlovesLucy
      @CalvinlovesLucy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@terryf5131 I say neck thin but if he's 5 it might still be large!...if there's anyway you can see one it would be worthwhile! All the best.

    • @TheGuitarNinja
      @TheGuitarNinja  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      it is super fun to shred on. the short scale length was great fun but it was easy to over bend the strings, so a little more sensitive to bending but that was about all the negatives I found.

      @@TheGuitarNinja I had a Squier Jagstang or Jag master, I forget, But it was 24 inch scale and I put 12s on it and mostly played Drop c and Drop C# on it and it was groovy, not too slinky at all. So I wanna try the minion v with 13s and hopefully get the same or better results. Wish I never sold my shortscale Squier but it was noisy even with aftermarket duncans and I re did the ground and it helped but was still noisy for buckkers. Great channel btw!

    Good review again. Would be good to do a side by side, for instance a squire mini vs a Jackson mini or a ibanez?? Vs a Prs?? Series

    • @TheGuitarNinja
      @TheGuitarNinja  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that's an awesome Idea. Will have to see if I can get hold of them all. Do PRS do 3/4 size? I haven't seen any myself.

    • @martinpearson2742
      @martinpearson2742 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I meant, not just a mini series but an overall guitar comparison.
      Fender vs squire, ibanez vs prs etc a side by side comparison, play 1 and then the other kind of thing.

    I'm thinking about getting this guitar, I have a question about strings can I use 9-42-gauge strings or 10-46-gauge stings on this guitar?

    • @womplestilskin
      @womplestilskin ปีที่แล้ว

      The best way to approach this is know what strings you like on a favorite guitar and use a string tension calculator online. .09 will be super floppy.

    noob question: for an average adult, is it harder to start learning on a smaller guitar like this or it doesn’t matter?

    • @TheGuitarNinja
      @TheGuitarNinja  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      doesn't really matter, but if you get used to the smaller size, the larger size can feel like quite the finger stretch.

      It would probably still look and feel a bit on the small side for you. If it helps I’m 6ft so it would probably look and feel about the same to you as it did for me. So I would say it’s super fun but not as a main/stage guitar.

    ⅔ is smaller than ¾. I think only Epiphone actually made a ¾ size guitar.

    • @TheGuitarNinja
      @TheGuitarNinja  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most brands make a 3/4 or at least called them a 3/4. I personally haven’t seen many labelled as 2/3 myself. It may be the case but 3/4 is more common in the places I have noticed them.

    • @a.khaosnarine9118
      @a.khaosnarine9118 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheGuitarNinja actually, it has everything to do with scale length.
      Guitars consider ⅔ are around 21 to 22 inches and ¾ are 22.5 to 24 inches. That's what determines the true size of the guitar.
      Chuch Schuldiner has a 24⅝ scale and people still called that a ¾ size guitar even though it wasn't far from 24¾.

    Bought a Jackson JS1X minion recently, and it's a lot of crap for such a small guitar. The workmanship is absolutely terrible and quality control is non-existant. Mine came with a nut slot that was sawn incorrect, resulting in fretbuzz on the highest strings, even with the ridiculously high action the guitar came with. The neck pocket is really sloppy and the bridge is misaligned. It doesn't keep in tune for more than a minute. It's completely worthless and unusable as a guitar. Painfull to see a great brand like jackson going down the drain...

    • @TheGuitarNinja
      @TheGuitarNinja  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      irgnj180 wow. I didn’t have such bad luck. This was set up really well. Maybe you were u lucky and got one that skipped quality control somehow. Or a second hand one that had been badly tempered with.

    • @TheGuitarNinja
      @TheGuitarNinja  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      never had this issue with it myself, but then i maintain guitars and ensure i buy decent strings as well. make sure to tune up, bend/stretch strings and then retune to help them settle in. and don't try and save money on strings. but the brands you know and trust. If it still goes out, perhaps you got unlucky and this one has some bad tuners etc. I would try and return it for a replacement first before giving up on it as I loved this guitar.
