Oh WHAT A GIFThere you did to us Gatsby "Lounge Bar & Grill", it's (very) close to heaven. I can't believe I missed it since it's been on all those last years... but I fell on it listening again to Elvis C and Burt B. Man I wih I would have assist on this extraordinary concert at the Royal Festival Hall - London, I could easily have too by just a quick flight from home Paris France. Anyway, MERCI BEAUCOUP, and MUCH LOVE from (South of) France (now 🤗!). ...De l'amour, ENCORE de l'AMOUR😌... toujours ! ...to y'all around here ❤...👋,billYves.
I am just overwhelmed by this today. Full of gratitude for finding this., now just days after Burt Bacharach's passing. Simply a stunning piece of work.

how am i just now discovering this! love to hear elvis sing little red book. i've heard some of the other tracks but i didnt realize the whole performance was available!
Too bad the Sessions At West 54th Street video hasn't been released on DVD. This was a great partnership. That goes for the Allen Toussaint record also. Elvis' ego didn't get in the way of their genius.
I think this is the peak of Costello's career. It has lacked direction and great songs since then. And it's not like he spent the 90s writing classics, either. Can't beat the guy live, though.
You just never know. This worked wonderfully. Just like Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. I didn't think that would work but it worked beautifully as well.
This song was on Elvis Costello "Painted From Memory" which is an exceptional album. That's one of the best studio albums of the last 25 years. As far as live, I'm not sure.

Two genius songwriters of the 20th century collaborate. And Elvis's voice has never sounded better. A work of art.
Hello from Liverpool
Sweet Simon
Elvis Costello♥ is one of the most underrated musicians ever.
He's very highly rated.
This is the quintessential Bacharach song, lovely interpreted by the amazing Elvis Costello
Goose bumps. All my brothers and sisters out there. I love you❤
I am just overwhelmed by this today. Full of gratitude for finding this., now just days after Burt Bacharach's passing. Simply a stunning piece of work.

Thank you - I love this!
EC is so great that even when he misses to hit the note exactly, it is still graceful.
Nu mótfrrrd
Love EC's take on Anyone Who . . . Such a great and difficult song, and his slow ride is beautiful.
You are very much appreciated, Sir.. Long time E.C. fan. Perfect collaboration with songs with Mr. Bachrach. Thank

Como eu queria ver esse show em vídeo....

Stormbringer Coming Agree! I have seen most of it and it is fantastic - too bad the entire concert is released.
Sure it was. I've had it for many years now.
I think this is the peak of Costello's career. It has lacked direction and great songs since then. And it's not like he spent the 90s writing classics, either. Can't beat the guy live, though.
i assume that you mean post-prime ('77-'87) peak
Yeah, no staying power that Costello bloke, just the two great decades and he was pretty much spent, aside from this and The Delivery Man
It was, in my opinion, a greatly missed opportunity not having many of these songs adapted for the stage.
May you share it with me, please?
These two together seem to be counterintuitive but it works great!
You just never know. This worked wonderfully. Just like Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. I didn't think that would work but it worked beautifully as well.
Superb!......what does counterintuitive mean ...does it mean anything at all?
Seamus Darcy yes
Running counter or against intuition or expectations.

Pop Pickers, what is the closest released cd / dvd to this?
This song was on Elvis Costello "Painted From Memory" which is an exceptional album. That's one of the best studio albums of the last 25 years. As far as live, I'm not sure.

A great collaboration in terms the songs and arrangements but Elvis is a little flat at times.
