      @@alexojeda9048 There are recordings of Dennis Wilcock floating around. He even claims he wrote Purgatory (which he may have - Purgatory sounds a lot like the song Floating from that 1977 bootleg).
      But a complete list of members would also have to include Thunderstick on drums, who played one show before Steve fired him, so it makes sense to draw the line somewhere. Official recordings is a sensible place to do so, and those begin with the Soundhouse Tapes EP from 1979, when the band already had Paul (though they also had Doug Samson on drums).

    Just to fill you in on a bit of maiden vocalist history, the original singer when they released there 1st album "Iron Maiden" in 1980 and 2nd Album "Killers" in 1981 was Paul DiAnno, at the time Bruce (real name Paul Bruce Dickinson) was vocalist in a band called samson who had hits like "Riding with the angels" while in Samson he was known as Bruce Bruce and he had caught the attention of Maiden's manager Rod Smallwood, the band were not really happy with paul Dianno as they thought his vocal style was too close to Blues and Punk, as Samson had dispanded Rod arranged a meeting with bruce and the boys and Bruce was hired before Dianno was even told he was going, Bruce toured with the Band as the new vocalist to introduce him to the fans a CD of that concert called "Beast over Hammersmith" was 1 of 3 CD's in the Eddies Archive collectors chest, Bruce first appeared on Maidens 3rd Album "The Number of the Beast" in 1982, by 1994 Bruce was getting tired of the constant half a year tours and wanting to do more solo albums left the band.
    Maiden Put out a couple of live recordings; "A real Live One" and "A Real Dead One" which later became the double album "A Real Live Dead One" while they rehearsed and reviewed a replacement for Bruce; they finally chose Blaze Bailey who was free having been the vocalist from the then recently disbanded band Wolfsbane.
    Blaze appeared on Maiden's 10th Album "The X Factor" 1995 and 11th "Virtual XI" 1998 as well as the single "Virus" which never went to album and was part of the "Best of the Beast" compilation album.
    I don't know the circumstances around Baileys Departure but he left the band in 1999 for the return of Bruce Dickinson along with former guitarist Adrian Smith who had left around 1989 and been replaced by Janick Gers ; this made Iron Maiden a 6 man band ; Bruce's first appearance since his return was on "Brave New World" in 2000 and has remained to the present, hopefully he will be as active as ever in coming shows as he has just had a new titanium hip fitted and seems raring to go.

      But also, Paul was a big drinker. He was becoming problematic to write and tour with. Clive Burr was a similar case. The two had to be phased out, unfortunately for some fans.

    • @chrismeadows4216
      @chrismeadows4216 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      To elaborate on that more though, Paul had been doing cocaine on top of everything. Clive and Steve argued a lot. It was hard for everyone to get along. It was even hard for Bruce to get along with the band in the '80s and '90s. There were a few times where he almost quit. His solo career was a good enough reason to part with the band for a time, with a proper sendoff. It's fortunate that they reunited after Blaze, though. Things have been great ever since.

So deep and emotional, a true diamond. I don't know why I don't see it in the comments often. For me it is one of the greatest moments of Bruce Dickinson and heavy metal in general.

    Very rarely does Dickinson close his eyes and stay stationary. This is one track. Where Eagles Dare from the same show is another. Easily the most impressive is when he did it for The Talisman on the En Vivo DVD (at age 53 or 54). A top 5 Maiden track, and a top 5 Maiden live performance. Not sure any other singer in rock history, at that age, could pull that off, Dio And Gillan included.

    I first saw Maiden in about 1981 with Paul Di'Anno on vocals. He was great - totally different from Bruce Dickinson - with a very small range but lots of energy and a really good tone. I think Dickinson fitted the band's musical ambitions (and Dickinson himself wanted to be in the best NWOBHM band). That, coupled with Di'Anno's excess-all-areas habits, led inevitably to what Maiden became. This is a great song from their debut album.

    I love Iron Maiden since they were invited for being the Ramp for Kiss. *kind of a laughter today... and I love Bruce "air siren" Dickinson. But the first two albums stick to Lead singer Paul DiAnno. th-cam.com/video/afBRj58PYSI/w-d-xo.html And you sure should do something with this mad singer, too. ^^ I recommend: "Phantom of the opera"

    Would I recommend you to make a video about the swedish band Therion? They are the very fathers of the whole symphonic meta stuff and they do it to perfection. I strongly suggest to begin this journey with the concert they made with a full orchestra named The Miskolc Experience and the very first song, Blood of Kingu, just give you a tasting of their quality: th-cam.com/video/KxH8kMx1yHw/w-d-xo.html

    I recommend reacting to songs from their first two albums, with singer Paul Dianno. Different sound, a bit more punky. They are very good also. Those are the songs that got them noticed and got them their first recording contract. And the rest is history.

      @@brucedickinson12 It is a theatrical song and is mostly outside of Maiden's norm. It is a great song still.. just in a different way. Kinda like how the albums Load and Reload were great albums.. but different than the Metallica that was before. Not bashing the fact that you do not like the song (assuming you do not like it based on the piano comment) as that is your prerogative. Just adding some context that you may not have considered.

Maiden were truly a fantastic live band in the 80s as well. This particular era of Maiden were their most creative and epic period: th-cam.com/video/kQsdyMwjXfY/w-d-xo.html

    Back in the early 90s, Bruce was kicked out of the band (this was around '92-'93 or so) and they advertised for singers to send in recordings in the magazine called Kerrang! I applied, back then they were my favourite band. They eventually hired a guy called Blaze Bailey, singer from Wolfsbane. I was about as much of a not a fan of him as anyone could be, so I was pretty upset they hired him and stuck the middle finger up to everyone who applied.
