  • Hey everyone... Today I'm talking about types of wood flooring!
    If you're familiar with my channel, you may know that I'm a big fan of wood flooring. I live in a climate that gets very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter so having wood flooring throughout my home is definitely my preference. It's the most comfortable flooring type under foot and brings warmth and beauty to the interior with so many style options to choose from. It's also great for the resale of your home and it's easy to clean on a daily basis and long lasting.
    But I get a tonne of questions on the various types of wood flooring, what their pros and cons are and where to use them. So let's break it all down and watch!

    Grew up with wood floor and always love wood, it is a total different and warm sensation no other things can substitute.

    We are remodeling our house and just had hickory installed throughout the kitchen, dining room, and living room - totally open and an entire level. It's lovely and has a low sheen as you mentioned. I wasn't all that happy when I saw it (just the sheen), but now listening to you talk about pets (and frankly, a husband) I am now believing our floor guy knew what he was doing. My question however is, how do I care for this floor? Just swiffering and spot cleaning? I want to give it the best shot at beauty for as long as possible. Love your channel!

    Subscribed today! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us. I do have a question regarding “wood” flooring. We have real hardwood Jacobean colored flooring in our livingroom/dining room. Our family room, foyer, and powder room are on the main level of our split level home. We are pulling up our carpet on the main level to change it over to a “wood” floor using Optimax flooring which is a not a true laminate or vinyl but it is def an engineered type of floor. That said we cannot match our Jacobean exactly. Should we try to match, go much lighter, like a white birch or go with a medium wood tone? Thanks so much!

    I have a warm wood floor and want to add engineered wood to the left and right of this area. Should use a darker or lighter wood tone, as it will not match.

    I live in a condo and I have a cement subfloor, it makes me unhappy to think that I should get laminate. Any ideas about this?

      Hey Portia... you can use engineered wood so long as you look for one that doesn't have to be nailed down. :)

    Thank you for this video. It was only yesterday I wondering "what is engineered wood - hmm must Google that up" and you have answered my question. I have open concept and have porcelain tiles.

    Thanks for the video. Why are some of the hardwood floors have a built in wave on them. I would like a dark wood floor that doesn't show the imperfections of everyday wear any suggestions

      I think you mean the type that's called "hand scraped". It's just meant to look like it's old wood that's been worn down a bit. It's a popular look these days. Good luck! And thanks for commenting and watching!

    What about Bamboo flooring?

    • @Designchickee
      @Designchickee  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Technically it's not wood! It's a grass. I know... crazy, huh! But I Googled it. It's true. And I do like bamboo in certain environments. Maybe I'll do a video on that some day?? Thanks for watching though!

    You can put engineered hardwood flooring on a concrete sub floor you don't have to settle on laminate flooring. ReallyCheaoFloors.com
