    Proctor Compaction Test For Granular Sub Base
    Procedure-
    Take about 40 kg of air-dried GSB material Sieve it through 26.5mm and 4.75mm sieve.
    Calculate the percentage retained on 26.5mm sieve and 4.75mm sieve, and the percentage passing 4.75mm sieve.
    Mix the GSB material retained on 4.75mm sieve and that passing 4.75mm sieve in proportions determined in step (2) to obtain about 25 to 30 kg of sspecimen.
    Clean and dry the mould and the base plate. Grease them lightly.
    Weigh the mould with the base plate to the nearest 1 gram.
    Take about 6 kg of Granular specimen. Add water to it to bring the water content to about 3% .
    Keep the GSB in an air-tight container for about 18 to 20 hours for maturing. Mix the GSB thoroughly. Divide the processed soil into 5 to 6 parts
    Attach the collar to the mould. Place the mould on a solid base.
    Take about 6kg of the processed GSB sample and hence place it in the mould in 5 equal layers. Take about one-third the quantity first, and compact it by giving 56 blows of the rammer. The blows should be uniformly distributed over the surface of each layer.
    1st layer in mould is compacted by giving 56 blows with 4.89 kg weight Rammer.after completion of 56 blows to 1st layer, placed 2nd and compacted it with 56 blows with same Rammer, then 3rd layer compacted with 56 blows , 4th compacted with 56 blows and finally 5th layer compacted by 56 blows. all five layer in mould is placed and compacted.The height of fall of Rammed is 45cm.
    The amount of the GSB material used should be just sufficient to fill the mould ad leaving about 5 mm above the top of the mould to be struck off when the collar is removed.
    Remove the collar and trim off the excess GSB sample projecting above the mould using a straight edge.
    Clean the base plate and the mould from outside. Weigh it to the nearest gram.
    Remove the GSB samples from the mould.
    Take the Fine material from samples for the water content determination from the top, middle and bottom portions. Determine the water content.
    Add about 4% of the water to a fresh portion of the processed GSB samples , and repeat the steps as above like 1st mould casting.
    The same procedure is repeated with fresh processed sample for 3rd Mould add 4%of water and in the 4th mould add 5% of water or in the 5th mould add 6% of water whatever we have required the procedure is continue for next only in each sample mould casting moisture content will be increase by 1% of previous mould .
    For each casted sample is weigh it and noted. initially weight is increasing in 2nd, 3rd,4th and after increasing water content we find that the 5th casted Mould weight is decreased.

    You did not explain or show clearly how the materials passing through 26mm and retain on 4.75mm and retain on pan adjustment is done for the final sample for compaction test.
