Rob Halford is all class. And in his 70s thru early 80s heyday, untouchable as a vocalist. I'd also like to mention that the 70s era of Priest is highly underappreciated, and every bit as important and significant as Black Sabbath to heavy music going forward
Im gay... and it annoys me how he had to make a point of him being gay. I wish I could just live my life without having to be "the gay guy" all the time.
@@user-xj5xp6qz5g He wasn't saying that to point out that HE is gay, but that heavy metal looks scary and sounds scary, but deep down it's full of love for anyone who will listen.
It wasn’t even an official induction either…it was like when the Veteran’s Committee inducts players into the baseball HOF. It’s still an honor, but true fans recognize it as somewhat of a backhanded compliment.
Rob is the fuckin man. Lol that opening response is hilarious. And so true about the true Metal community. We dont care what you look like or who you love. As long as you love Metal we are family.
As far as beliefs go.... I am agnostic, not sure I believe in god... but my late best friend may have been onto something when he said “Rob Halford is one”.... this man... this band has brought so many smiles to me and my friends for so many decades. We rocked these songs, partied to them and they are the stuff that we have the most awesome memories with...(Thank you Judas Priest for decades of awesomeness we will carry with us forever)... this award is LONG overdue! Congratulations to Rob Halford and Judas Priest!!!🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
Rob is fantastic. You read the lyrics of Raw Deal and you realize he wrote a gay rights anthem in 1977 and no one noticed. I remember figuring out he was gay when I heard some of the lyrics on Point of Entry and said "Oh! Now the leather makes more sense!". He's been through a lot and given us all a gift of his voice. Amazing always.
Rob is a gent. It's so nice to see someone appreciate & thank their fans. I stopped watching award shows because most young performers thank everybody except their fans
Priest, Priest Long Live Priest! Long time Priest fan, it was cool that Alice Cooper was there, we named our enormous Dog “Cooper” after him. Rob Halford is an interesting, humble man. Hell yeah!
He is the man. I rediscovered the album Voyeurs from his band Two, and really like it. And Judas Priest has some great classic metal songs. Well-deserved!
I'm a 56-year-old straight white male American Southern redneck. And I love nothing more than heavy metal of the '80s. And when I found out that Rob halford was gay that did not bother me because he is the greatest singer of all times. Such as living color and loudness or some of my favorite bands of that time and still are today. Thank you heavy metal rockers for keeping the music alive.
Congratulations Judas Priest, hell yeah, been a fan since the Early 80’s, I have seen when you were dressed liked Hippies, haha, my fav song is by far, and there are many, “ Electric Eye” a prophetic song, about Big Brother watching our every move, how right yous were, now look at Big Brother and the World Wide surveillance System, Mark of the Beast!
Rob Halford is a living legend! Following his awesome career and all of his great music, I can only conclude: we will never see another one quite like this.
In the title of this video, why did you blank out the word "gay?" I mean, Rob says "I'm the gay guy in the band." As a gay man, I'm just wondering what the intent was. If you're worried about offending us LGBTQIA's, don't be. We're not offended by a quote such as "I'm the gay guy in the band,." You can use quotation marks in a title on TH-cam, can't you?
@@resusfactor_2286 I don't think he was crying he was just making a statement that it is ok to not blank out the word "gay" in the title of the video because gay people aren't offended by the word "gay". No real need to be so angry and nasty towards a comment that wasn't even directed toward you.... Chill
Priest and Halford is the building blocks of metal and what was born thrash. I never for one second cared rob was gay. Who gives a shit. Great vocalist and person. Hail to priest and RH.
They are the best heavy metal band!! But unlike many other great rock bands like Led Zeppelin, they don`t care much about the remaster of their reissues on vinyl and a CD. Not to mention bad pressings of vinyl... That is really a shame, that you buy a new reissue of your best band on vinyl and it is unplayable. And you buy a CD and it sounds like garbage.
Great speech. Except I don't care if you have sex with men. I don't care about any of the other band members' sexuality either. Don't need to bring it up. At all.
I think it's important to him, since he was abused by hate speech over the course, and it allowed him to say what he wanted to say; Heavy Metal being inclusive etc ... while the image it has is that of machismo (e.g. Pantera et al). And it's HIS speech accepting the honour, his choice of words!
💛 Rob Halford, the greatest metal vocalist alive.
Agreed, but, I think he ties with Bruce Dickinson and Eric Adams
Who could hate that guy
The best ever!

Hetfield vocals.
Rob is spitting facts: the metal community has always been the most inclusive in music history. FUCK YEAH!
Thank you for highlighting this fact. IT IS SO TRUE! We all bang our head as one at the concerts, and we are a diverse bunch in every way.
Rob Halford legendary rockstar and human being.
Absolutely LOVE THIS MAN. He and METAL has gotten me through some tough times. PRIEST FOREVER

He’s a class act…🤘🏼 a lost art i guess
IMO his 2000's era is very underrated. Live Insurrection is still one of my favorite live albums.
@demonizer123 totally agree with that. I saw him that year several times and it was awesome every time. Such killer setlists!
Mr. Rob Halford is a true treasure on this earth!!!
as a bisexual woman, these Halford's words are really important ❤ I'm a queer metalhead and proud of it!!!
Anyone who has hatred for the gay community misses out on some outstanding people.
I'm straight who has gay friends and I'm proud to say that.

Bravo Rob! You were, are, and will forever be one of the beast heavy metal vocalists! Your fans truly do love you and all your bandmates! Rock on!!!
His legendary wails are recorded for all time.
these guys have been one of the most inspirational bands in rock history and they were inducted in 2022? that's freakin' bull shit!
I mean seriously I know only bs bands go on that
They were snubbed many times over the years
It wasn’t even an official induction either…it was like when the Veteran’s Committee inducts players into the baseball HOF. It’s still an honor, but true fans recognize it as somewhat of a backhanded compliment.
Right, they certainly should have been inducted at least 20 years ago.
Yep-- Now, when the hell will they induct STYX?

Well spoken indeed! Long Live Judas Priest!
He should have had some words for Tim Ripper Owens for keeping the band alive and keeping the home for Mr. Halford.

The only disappointment I have with JP's induction is that Ripper Owens was completely looked over, and I'm glad Ian Hill pointed that out
Rob y Lemmy: todo lo que está bien en el rock n roll !
The first cassette I ever bought, with my own money, was British Steel. I’ve been metal ever since.

Not a RRHOF guy, but if anyone belongs in it's Priest.

Sad that Ripper didn’t get any acknowledgment.
Rob: Hello! I'm a gay guy in the band.
Everybody: *APPLAUSE*
K.K. 10 x 0 "judas's"
Rob Halford is the only person who is gay but still more straight than a lot of straight people.
Nope he's the gayest of all the gays ever. Jk, it's all silly stereotypes
Hes covered in leather,it’s pretty gay.But than again I lift weights and that culture is pretty gay lol

Who was he referring to when he said “you’ve seen it here tonight”?

Judas Priest have always been musically and lyrically far more relevant than bands like Iron Maiden or other NWOBHM bands.
Musical excellence is correct. But they should be in the main class. smh….
Where fuck is Owen Ripper?
Killin it in KK’s Priest.
Halford didn't need to mention the gay thing, stop pushing this down our throats (so to speak).
Keep saying that because that kind of comments will make him mention it even more!

Why mention sexuality at all? Isn’t it all about the music?
