So true! In elementary school, we had dragster trading cards - the fastest was a Don Garlits one, IIRC it was 6.40 at 240. This would have been '72-'73!
Wonder if the exhaust side of the turbo should be sized bigger when run without wastegates ccompared to wastegate setups. Seems like leaking on the compressor side to control boost would drive emap up.
They run exhaust back pressure sensors so if it needed it they’d know and adjust piping sizes. But they’re greatly benefiting from the increased exhaust velocity & volume, as they talked about how much the shaft speed increased
@@TronVila Yeah thinking about it to adjust boost for traction control makes sense too since the response is probably much better then trying to do it on the exhaust side with wastegates.
To put this into perspective, in 1988 Eddie Hill first broke into the 4's in the 1/4 mie, now nearly 30 years later a Meth fueled doorslammer is approaching that same milestone. it may take a few more years to hit it, but the discussion needs to happen now
If nhra would allow a couple races promod run what you brung, it couple be a game changer. Be nice to know the amount of boost it was running, that's the difference, from the 36psi nhra limit. But no matter what that is awesome passes
With the smallish 98’s my bet is that he is probably running 60+ psi and possibly 70. BTW, the LAST thing NHRA wants is for Pro Mods to encroach on their sacred nitro categories.
I wish I had the smarts these folks have! Dreamed my entire life to be apart of a race team that paid me to work on race cars and be at the drag strip! It never happened for me I never met the right people but it's still always been a dream
I just watched the McMurtry Spéirling thinking that must get right up there.. then what the hell. 3.6s to drive 400 metres @ 217.32mph (350kph) is illogical. How the heck can something with wheels on a road do that. well fkn done
Not really. If you know Bradenton you would know it is at the very end of a long shutdown area. 10’ past the motorhome and you are into a fence and then an agricultural field. An agricultural field that VERY soon will have homes being constructed.
@replynotificationsdisabled the 4 cylinder cars have no minimum weight and no limit on boost. If they had to run equivalent weights, they'd not be anywhere near their "records" Context is important. Look at the rules applied in imports vs Domestic. They give the 4 bangers every allowance possible. Not impressive
270+ mph. That is staggering. Congratulations to the whole crew!
OMG! I am old enough to remember when Larry Minor held the Top Fuel record with a 5.41. This is mind-bending.

FuelTech the world!
Thanks for sharing this and talking about all the advances. Very cool!
Fuel tech is taking over the world and its so user friendly
Congrats to all involved with the car.
That’s just insane and with freaking turbos. And the fact you went turbo because it was harder in pro mod. Freaking studs. Well done fellas 🎉
Dude chilling like he’s drivin to the store
Name a more legendary combo, mark micke and fueltech 😍
Holy hell guy! You’ve made history and everyone is going to have a hard time going faster. I didn’t think it was possible but you guys did it.
It's nice to see quarter mile drag racing at its finest. Kick ass
The coolest thing is I count 5 different times in 5 different cars that Jose Gonzales have been 5.50s or better what a badass
Wow what a setup amazing 😮 congratulations 🍾
Love the video guys much love and respect thanks for sharing ❤
Any faster, he’s warping into the future, LITERALLY, awesome work ya all 🤙

@@Shademax4273- it would seem the boost control response time for the E gates would be faster than with the traditional exhaust side gates.
whooop whoooop well done team ya earned it

This is crazy just like when turkey went 272 against frankie taylor. Drag racing is so amazing
Dominicans in the house!! Jose "El General..." Gonzalez.
that is a badass curve..last curve tht good i saw was Andrew Alepa's 5000+ hp RVW Corvette on the dyno
It won't be long before a pro mod runs in the teens. Yes it will be a turbo
I asked it before, and I’ll say it again: does this spell the END of ProCharger, nitrous, and screw blowers?
@@flitetymno,everyone with whatever power adder becomes quicker with new ideas and hard work ethic
They will never run in the teens
@@dakotaautosales9673 didnt someone just go 5.14
Todd moyer went 5.14 with his proline hemi th-cam.com/video/KzRggMTNQgs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mMm_7cWGJmGud4hp
Using the charge pipe gate vs gate on exhaust is the main reason better boost control? And spool up is quicker.
how many turbos are there wow

That’s why there is PDRA pro boost. Minimum weights per combo but after that you can shove as much air and fuel into the engine you like

I didn't get a good look, was that a 481x or a hemi?
It very faster that person, i like the video
Just out of curiosity whats the differences between this and cleets new eagle car?
Eagle is a small tire car with a steel body.
I just watched the McMurtry Spéirling thinking that must get right up there.. then what the hell. 3.6s to drive 400 metres @ 217.32mph (350kph) is illogical. How the heck can something with wheels on a road do that. well fkn done
The 564 is just an 80k plus engine
Did they back it up?
Where is the track located? Trees look really familiar. Nevermind, I was right 😂
My favorite badass 69
Hopefully cleatus's eagle has no waist gates and just an egate on the charge pipe...
That motor home crossing the track looked pretty sketchy to me..

Damn!
What is the weight of this car
2650lbs
216 where everyone is doing 207-8 that lock up TC is cooking on the big end
V8... not surprised 😂
a 4cyl duratec did 260plus at worlds, not that impressive

Brrrrrpppppp
That’s “eagle” if it was to be pro mod

Who had the record before Mark broke it?
ekanoo racing 5.379@278 , proline HEMI
I was under the impression you have to make these passes during competition multiple times to own the record.?
Yes but can it get down the quarter mile in 3.8 seconds ...
WORLD RECORD - Stevie Jackson goes 3.505 at the COMP Cams Shakedown Nationals - September 20, 2020!
???????????
1/8 mile
This is a quarter mile
That was a radial car running 1/8 mile, not a promod and the 3.50 was not a record
Why would anybody run 1/8 mile🤮
I think they don't want to go bankrupt just to please you
Way safer. 1/4 mile more dangerous
I thought world records only count when it's at an event
