Yup, it's called "Seimei no Kagaku: Mikuropatorōru" in Japan.

I was just watching tv and starting thinking about this after about 27 years...... I had to google a cartoon skit the human body to find out what it was called, strangely I remembered the the lyrics to the theme! The good old days!

Its so weird listening to the english version of this intro, it was sung
in French in the finnish dub with which i grew up with.
I had it on DVD in French, but, like, it had an English option, which we did so we could understand it.

Damn, in the mid 90's I used to get up earlier than needed for high school to watch this as they aired it at around 4:30am - 5:00am in the UK, it honestly taught me biology way more than my moron teachers at school could.

Like, true. Subjective opinion, but every single version is special for someone in some way.
In all honesty I prefer the original French version of the intro. Nonetheless, this series brings alot of memories as well as the music! A great thanks to Michel Legrand for such great compositions!
R.I.P. Albert Barille. You will be missed, and we are sure to share your philosophical series with our own children and have them experience the educational fun we had the honor to see when we were young ourselves.

I have books of this (it is called How My Body Works in the United Kingdom) and on the introduction pages it shows everybody and there is an female Oxygen bubble sitting and behind her is a male bone cell with a cowboy hat on and I like to think they are boyfreind and girlfreind (I always believed that as a child and I still do).
sadly the show revealed they are not (I also thought the same too)
My favourite characters are the Viruses, the Toxicus germs, the Germus germs (the germs with ears that look like mice), Claudia, the fat cells, Globina and the engineers with overalls and hats.
Looking back it's interesting that the viruses in this series have a worm-like appearance. Some of the most dangerous viruses known are filoviruses (including Marburg and Ebola) which do indeed look worm-like.
My mother said the boy with brown hair looks like my father when he was a young boy.
Channel 4 used to show this in the early 1990s. But they never showed the first half of the intro (perhaps due to the nudity?); usually starting on the first shot of the blood cells.
