Introduction to the measurement of reverberation times in rooms. Made by Clive Greated for the MSc course in Acoustics and Music Technology at The University of Edinburgh
Useful demo. Clive, why do you use a narrowband filter white noise source and not just a single-frequency source? Also, although you record these frequencies you don't show how to measure T60, or do you just apply the same principles as impulse source?
This levels program you are using, is this program available to the public and if so, where could I find it. It would save me a lot of time. Thanks for the video.
The professor uses Audacity program to export the sound, and analyses it in Mathlab. Audacity can do the job without Mathlab. See this video as an example: th-cam.com/video/HFIXPjp0fgc/w-d-xo.html
Hi @@DmitryMyadzelets do you also know how to access the graphing tool he used in MATLAB? I really need this for my research. Your response will be very much appreciated. Thanks!
Great video which helped me understand the reverberation time. I'm trying to measure the reverberation time in an anechoic box, what would be the simpelest way? The balloon would be rather difficult, unless i hit it from outside of the box with a needle.

reverberation time = n a measure of the acoustic properties of a room, equal to the time taken for a sound to fall in intensity by 60 decibels. It is usually measured in seconds.

Can you share the brand and model microphone that was used for this test. What were the specifications for the microphone to make an accurate measurement of the reverberation time?
Most any microphone will do. Compressor mic's will be more useful than dynamic mic's at getting a good result due to their sensitivity at picking up quiet atmospherics like the reverb. Since sound quality doesn't matter you can amplify the mic's signal as much as you need to in order to see the extent of the reverb time, this makes most any mic sufficient for gauging reverb. You may also want to consider the shape/direction of the mic's pickup. An omni-directional mic will be best because it will get the average directional reverb from the entire room. I think he mentions this in the video a bit.

Professor Clive Greated passed away. RIP.
Rest in peace, good man
Ah Jesus. RIP. He's helping me with my degree in 2020.

Excellent. Thanks for this knowledge!!.
how you have plotted graph in matlab?

just AMAZING
Please Sir what is the name of software that you use for see the results , and thanks

I'd like to know the same as David Nugent
how can i fix RT time ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
With proper acoustic treatment
