I'm not sure why the video was dated 1964 when the cars in the background are clearly newer than that, while the song itself was written in 1934 by Mexican-American songwriter Maria Grever to a lyric in Spanish. I was wondering just where this was shot; it sounds like the sort of performance you'd feel privileged to catch when you were out walking and stumbled upon it.
Hi Mark, sounds like I need to change the date on the song! As Darren said below, the video isn't from 1964, it's what I thought was the date of the tune (should've checked with my dad!). And yes, it's lovely when people stumble upon the band when they're playing in public spaces - I used to go with him occasionally when I was a little girl, and I often went to watch him when he and his friends were busking in York (purely for the love of it - the day paid for itself: a train and a few beers), where I used to live and work. People start smiling immediately, and then start tapping their feet and sometimes all out dancing! It's nice to think that my dad makes people feel happy for a living!
