Food for thought:I find it amazing that I can even do these videos on a social security income.im very thankful for that.i don't do videos for fame or fortune.i just like to build things with what I have on hand😃.also before I get a comment telling me I'm dumb, 8.16v rms(was using a rms meter)×1.414×2 or(×2.828)=22.9volts - ripple voltage, would =21.66 volts I saw on meter.i knew this I was just going too fast.😃

      Dog toenail trimmer ?
Monty just ran out of the room 😮
I've spent my life working in electrical panels and not far off retiring.
I'm trying to ingrain into the younger ones, the basics of electrical safety.
I enjoy your videos and your honesty in not cutting footage that doesn't go right.
I slso solder lugs and for the same reason.
I'm also, always picking stuff off the floor and putting it back into stock. The younger ones laugh at me, for going to the trouble.

@lindsaybrown7357 oh shoot, I never gave it a thought that monty may hear the grinder.im sorry if I traumatized him.🤪truth be known the nail grinder never got used for nails.a good set of cutters was far less stressing on gsd.im glad that monty approves,he's a beauty❤️.I'm looking into M.A meetings,he's a bit addictive.😄

@lindsaybrown7357 I added a long description.maybe reading that would give you a better idea what I was trying to accomplish with this.my Grammer is substandard but...if monty approves, who cares.😃

No, I totally understood what you were building and the techniques used.
I've made similar setups as safety interrupts for my workshop.
I've also used Voltage Doublers for creating about 600Vdc off our domestic supply which is 240Vac.
And unlike many nowadays, there's nothing wrong with your grammar.

@@lindsaybrown7357 ok.great I wasn't sure if I expressed myself right,as to what i was trying to accomplish.i got my igbt driver running it seems?quite frankly what came out of it scared the ....out of me.thats why i built this.the ""cart before the horse"".my table is not ergonomically friendly.i stuck my finger on a tiny flyback in 91' it ruined my week.😄thats awesome you've played with hv stuff too.shame were not neighbors.

Nice work and a good idea with the contactor... I used to build pulse lasers (!!!) for fun and with 2kv+ on the caps it was helpful to be able to fire the laser without that taking a detour up your arm. Some fun solutions to switching power - like dropping a ball down a plastic tube to hit a paddle switch, to fire a Thyristor...

Dropping a ball down a tube, that's awesome.in 95'? I had plans to build a ruby laser,oh my never saw it though.i did wind the ferrite transformer on a freebie 1000watt core, courtesy of magnetics corp..draw was 100amps at 12v.on to3 trans...lol.made a load can to test transformer.smokin hot oil.i had all the control circuits designed, interlocks and two cap banks built.i had it in the bag.dropped the ball.thanku for your comment😃.

I was doing something similar when fitting a towbar to my van last week. Basically I had to bypass the vehicles canbus with bypass relays. I also always solder terminals too especially anything automotive. Thanks for the video.
