Man I bought this years back and love it but I never got around to install my centering springs and lost them 😓 finally decided I’d throw them in after having this old video pop up again and now I can’t find the damn things… great shifter though 💪🏻
The main differences are. 1 Insulated shifter lever (reduces noise transfer from gearbox) 2. Shift lever centring springs (brilliant 2nd to 3rd shifts and very defined shift gate) 3. Shifter bush locking plate (smoother shifting)
Great to hear from you The Premium has the following upgrades over the regular > Quiet as a factory shifter. Due to insulated shifter lever > Very defined shifter gate and outstanding 2nd to 3rd shifting. Due to adjustable shifter centering springs >No oil leaks and smells. Due to rubber transmission oil seal >all billet components for the most accurate dimensions, shift quality and fitment > all new bushings > Unique shifter locking plate
@@cubespeedequipment870 Does the regular model have oil leaks/smells? What would I need to do for the rubber transmission oil seal for the regular one? I purchased the regular one, but now I am concerned that I will have oil leaks/smells.
I just installed this in my NA skyline r34 but there is a lot of loud noise coming from under the shift boot it’s like I can hear under the car while the windows are rolled up it’s extremely loud, what could be the problem
Hi, Please check that the top donut bush is installed with the small bevel down. If that is OK, review the part of the video from 11min - 17mins, to make sure you have the pivot bush tight enough.
Just received mine today for my 34, Will I need to remove the transmission to install the new springs or will I be able to do it from under the car? Also why do you recommend the 75% spring over the heaviest one you provide for street use? Can't wait to install it
The shifter centring springs can be replaced fairly easily with the trans in the car (GTR's are more difficult than RWD models). You will need to access the springs from under the car. PS the springs make a huge difference, so the effort is definitely worthwhile. The heaviest springs I would generally only use on a car using an extended shifter lever. Either the 70% or 160% springs generally best for a stock length shifter lever. Let us know your thoughts once installed!!!
@@cubespeedequipment870 hey guys as you can see its been 5 months since I’ve bought this and the play side to side of gears 1-4 has increased significantly since I first received it. Do you have any idea why this is? Perhaps something has come loose?
@@WarringScholar Hi, Please check the locking plate to make sure it hasn't worked loose and reset the pre-load as necessary (step 10 in the instructions). Also check to make sure that the lower shifter bush isn't damaged. Feel free to contact us on our website also.
Our Classic is an awesome short shifter and has been used on 1000's of Skylines worldwide, but our Premium is even better....it is quite simply the best H pattern shifter money can buy for the Skyline R32/33/34 platform. 1. insulated shifter lever, which makes our shifter factory quiet. 2. shifter to trans seal to prevent loss of gear oil and gear oil smell. 3. The most defined H pattern shift gate and incredible 2nd to 3rd shifts (shifter centring springs) 4. All components are machined from solid billet to guarantee the best quality fit and function. 5. Unique pivot bush locking plate for the firmest and smoothest shifting!
Our Skyline Premium short shifter - now comes complete with a factory style shifter to trans rubber boot/seal. The shifter to trans boot/seal is necessary for GTR's which are quite proned to leaking if no seal is installed. But even RWD Skylines can leak from this location if no seal is installed.
Do you have to use the shift lever? Like say i want a low profile, could i just not use the lever and screw my knob on the threads that go into the lever?
Hi, You don't have to use our shifter lever, but it does have a rubber insulator which reduces noise transfer from the trans, so it is recommended. Also if you reduce the height of the lever by say 20%, it will increase shift effort by 20%. If you contact us on email, we can supply a different top lever which will reduce shifter height by 25mm, combined with some adjustability in the lower lever can get you to about 35mm below stock, while still retaining the rubber insulator. Only thing is gear knob thread size goes to 12 x 1.25 rather than the factory 10 x 1.25. If we can help further, please get in touch.
PS We do not recommend screwing your shifter knob straight to the lower lever. This would make it incredibly hard to shift gears, as there would not be enough leverage.
Hi. All of the screws are metric. The smallest allen screws need a 2.5mm allen screw driver. If there is anything else we can help with, please get in touch.
HI, Our CUBE Speed premium short shifter has an exceptionally defined "H" pattern shifter gate, making gear selection much easier...particulary 2nd to 3rd upshifts. All components are machined from solid billet for improved accuracy and strength. The main pivot bush uses a locking mechanism for an extremely solid feel and to prevent the shifter from working loose over, time. C's shifters where great for their time, but the CUBE shifter is brings Skyline shifting up to a whole new level!
