- Acetazolamide is a sulfonamide that acts as mild diuretic by competitive inhibition of carbonic anhydrase enzyme. As this drug increases excretion of bicarbonate in the urine it makes the urine alkaline and can be used in the treatment of glaucoma as it reduces intraocular pressure.

There is a mistake in it. Co2 wont be accumulated. If co2 is accumulated that leads to resp. Acidosis. What’s actually happening is, in mountain sickness due to hypoxia, the person hyperventilates to compensate decrease in po2, that leads to co2 washed out, which is causing respiratory alkalosis.
U also forgot to mention a very major side effect of acetazolamide which is HYPOKALEMIA.
Please Hindi mein samjhaiye achhe se

Useful information 😍
Thank you.
Nice sir!
Thanks!
At higher altitudes, if the CO2 level in the lungs increase, shouldn't it lead to acidosis ? Would appreciate help in understanding this.. Thanks !
It's like Person hyperventilate at height that's why It leads to CO2 wahout leading to Resp. Alkalosis
Yr ye doubt mujhe bahut dino se hain koi please samjha do co2level increase hoga to acidosis ki condition to ho sakti hain na
Is it dangerous to take this medication for longer periods ?
750 mg a day divided in 3 parts is it safe ?
