Yes. But he isn't just standing tied. He is hung in a position where he can move around. You wouldn't get the same results by tying him to a hitching post or horse trailer.
I noticed about 8" or 10" from the top of the romal reins, there's what looks to be a long button there. Does that have a specific purpose or is it just ornamental?
Not sure what you’re referring to. Pat used a piece of cord attached to the top of the romal attached to the horn to keep the rein centered. He removed the romal so it wouldn’t weight the rein to one side or the other.
@@PatnDebPuckett You got the buttons on the coastal rein on the bit end, on the other end, what looks like 8" to 10" below the sliding button that brings both sides of the rein together, I see something that looks like a rawhide braided long button
@@janboogaerts1616 sorry for not getting back to you right away. Pat says that those long buttons are for weight and to support the rigidity of the reins at that point. It's something that our braider came up with and we like it.
I agree. I have watched a good deal of equitation at speed. It is beautiful, but to me it seems the horses are very overbent and never (or seldom) get relief from the "frame" they are ridden in. Maybe it is just me.

They’re often overflexed which dumps their weight onto the forehand.
