I think it would’ve been best to do a swap out with a new engine. I may get a new Cummins long block for 10,000 or a little under being self installed. It’s the best thing to do when doing a schoolie since a lot of money is going into it. You can get financing for a new engine and installation. Regardless you guys got to do what you got to do. Good luck with a van, from my own experience it’s hard. I wish you the best for you two, even though I’m sad but I’m looking forward to keep seeing your videos. I really hope to see you guys in person on the road in a few years when I get a bus. Cheers my friends!
I have a shorty, I orginally wanted to buy a promaster and build it out but I ended up with a short bus due cost, but now I'm afraid to take any huge trips because she's an old bus, if I could have afforded it I would have done a van too. Good luck on your build. I'm excited to see what you do with it
So sorry you went through so much, the van will be a better fit in my opinion. Don't feel bad you had a lot of adventures in the bus. Don't be hard on yourselves Cause you accomplished so much I have tremendous respect for you guys. Best wishes Jimmy and Natalie your gonna be fine, you deserve less headaches
Smartest move you can make. Nothing is worse than being stressed out because you have an old vehicle that’s bound to crap out on you at any point in time. Older vehicles will nickel and dime you to death. From the beginning I thought you should’ve gotten rid of that thing. You two are out to enjoy yourself not worry all the time. The van is a perfect choice
Doesn't matter if you're in a bus or a van. It's the two of you that make your videos fun to watch. I love how positive you are, and it's exciting to see all the places you're visiting. I'm living vicariously through you. Keep cranking out that content. I'm excited to follow you through your next build!
Hey, LOTS of RV TH-camrs switch up their RVing styles multiple times, going big to small and back again, drivable, drivable with a toad, towable, even a pick-up truck with a tent on top. It's fun watching everyone learn by living & doing. And then we get to hear about pros & cons, likes & dislikes. It's all good! And as I watch and learn from everyone I'll become an RVing know-it-all even before I get my first one. - Keep having fun living and learning together!
No judgments from here. You guys do what you think is best. It’s no one else’s business. I hope all goes well for you and you can soon be back on the road. Happy trails. 💕
A van will be perfect for y'all! Much more mobile, friendlier on fuel, and just simple. If they made a van big enough for a family of 4 we would totally do it hahaha looking forward to the van build series! best of luck with everything
Thank you so much!! We think we’ll be well suited for a van, but we’ll definitely miss the character that a bus has. We really appreciate you guys being so supportive 😊💚
Sounds like good decision making! I'm a retired fire Captain from midland Texas! When your the first Captain on scene and make the decision how to fight a fire you set the tactics and plan and start the firefight! A smart Captain recognizes when the original plan conditions have changed and are no longer tenable! I salute and commend yalls decision making! Proud of you both! so enjoy your videos!
No criticism, no judgement! Those of us that watch you, are in it for your adventure. Your story is the attraction, and the best stories have twists and turns. I think most of us are attracted to these channels and lifestyles, and that lifestyle includes scoolies, vans, rv’s, SUV’s, and even cars. Heck, I follow a few folks who have decided to purchase land and settle down too. The enjoyment is watching the adventure.
Dear Jimmy & Natalie, I think that most of us follow you because of who you are, like your enthusiasm, and positive vibes, not because you own a skoolie (although you made an amazing one 😊). I am looking forward to seeing your future adventures! Good luck with the build of your van. Keep up the great job!
Jimmy & Natalie, I have watched many van life (and schoolie) videos, and you two are among my favorites, for the obvious joy and love you have together as a couple, and your sense of adventure and honesty. I watched your build of the bus, and most of your videos so far. Given that you have had several mechanical problems with the bus, and given that buses are heavy, fuel hogs, and expensive to tow and repair, I think you have reached a very sensible decision to trade the bus for something smaller and lighter and easier for BOTH of you to drive comfortable (side by side) and confidently too. You are not the only "schoolie couple" to reach this point, as I have seen three others come to similar conclusion that a school bus is expensive to drive and maintain (or tow and repair) as that can happen. They are also slow (as one couple made clear, it caused their travels to be slower, not as far reaching) and can be less comfortable for long trips (especially for the passenger). I hope once you have had a chance to sell the bus, and then move on to a van, you will make a video that describes the differences as you see them, including the costs associated with owning them. For example, you had to have your bus towed a long distance to another state, and then repaired (i assume by a diesel mechanic). Please share how much that kind of tow cost. Etc. Also, things like bus tires can be more expensive than regular vehicle or van tires. Stuff like that. I hope the best for you, and will continue to watch your videos and look forward to more of them. Happy Trails!
My wife and I love you guys. Glad you are safe. Nice to see a young couple so in love with each other. We appreciate you guys inviting us into your lives. Sounds like you have made a great decision to switch to a van from All your reasoning. Look forward to your future endeavors and we wish you all the best of luck.
Stop stessing about what other people want! If van life is what you want to pursue, then go for it! You two are very intelligent adults with great ideas and now the experience to back up your thoughts and plans. Hubby and I constantly say "on the next bus, we'll...". It's an incredibly hard decision to make, so good on you for recognizing and cutting yourselves off when the bus money ran out. That's very hard to commit to, so good on ya! To be honest, I was afraid you two were stuck in Yellowstone! When there wasn't a video on Monday, I started getting worried and kept checking TH-cam to make sure you were ok! Funny how you get into routine with watching some of your favourite bus people! But, I am glad you're safe, and I can't wait to see more build videos (even though I had secretly hoped to run into you in Banff since we are headed there in a couple weeks 😂)!
Hey there. LISTEN....if, anyone ever says anything negative about what your decisions are, then there's no need to listen to them. Your life, your choice...no one else's. Sure we want the best for you and the good stuff you provide your viewers, but that will never supercede what goes on in your lives. I mean, it's fun to pick on Jimmy, but not cool to question what your choices have been, are deciding, or will be in the future. So, I'll still follow, I'll still josh Jimmy, and I'll always end with a thank you! Because anything less than a thank you for taking us along for the ride IS disingenuous. Good luck, see you soon, and stay safe
You guys are so awesome!! No this isn’t where you saw the bus experience going, but I have a strong feeling that this is going to work out. I’m not going to lie, I am SOOOO excited to see the van videos!!! Back to the build!!!! 😃 You have inspired me more than you will ever know and because of you two, I am going to be getting a van too and I CANNOT wait!!!
I appreciate your pragmatism... identifying a problem, coming up with a solution, and not compromising your goals. I am a full-time nomad and I totally understand your predicament because I've had to face budget difficulties. Sometimes you have to analyze and regroup. I wish you all the best and look forward to your continued adventure, no matter what you're driving.
Sad to see the skoolie go. You did some great things in that bus but I bet you will love the van just as much if not more. Being more mobile is a huge bonus and I can't wait to see the new build. Good luck.
My older (and quite successful) brother always says, the key to success is to step back and re-evaluate if what you are doing isn't working. Figure out what you need to do to make your plan work, and then do it. So, really, you are being successful. Looking forward to the continuing videos. You guys rock!
Get rid of the money gobbler. It costs more to fuel a skoolie. You'll be able to get into places with a smaller vehicle. You made a mature decision! Smart move! You are closing the Skoolie chapter and starting a new van-life chapter! Life is full of chapters, so keep going! Enjoy life! Thank you for sharing!
At the opposite end of life (recent retirees), my wife & I built out a Promaster 136" High Roof and absolutely love it. We went really minimal inside (no indoor plumbing or cooking), but you will also see ones with everything including the kitchen sink inside. There are many decisions to make on what is worthwhile to have in the limited van space. We also love being able to park in a normal parking space. So, ENJOY!! We had a blast building it (basically 1 year on weekends) and have loved our 4+ years traveling in it. I'm sure you will love it as well. Go Tigers!
Good for you guys it's all about what makes you happy. Just an FYI you will love Banff when you go but don't forget to go to Jasper while you are there, a lot more beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails and whitewater rafting. Keep up the great video's.
I am glad your not giving up your traveling life. Your very smart to go to a van. With the price of fuel right now it's a smart move. Can't wait to watch your new build videos and your upcoming trips.
Sorry to hear the bus broke down again and you had the added expense of the tow. Also glad you are up beat about the next chapter and the future. Well, I'm on the West coast so have to remember Eastern time is 3 hours ahead of me. I have my notifications turned on so hope to see you Monday. Take care and as always, "Enjoy The Adventure." 😀✌👍
I think it will be so hard for you to say goodbye to your Skoolie, but the fact that you are still going to be filming your video's while doing your van make over is going to be fun to watch. I think you have made the right choice. Take Care, Hugs UK
I have always thought that a shower is such a "waste of space" as you only use it for 10 minutes a day. I love what you did with your roll out natures head. I have always thought that another "waste of space" situation could be solved by incorporated into the shower space, a roll out fridge. It would roll out into the dinette or bed space when showering and roll back in when done. A good solar powered fan assisted venting system, like what is used in the natures head, built in, would help keep the area dry while assisting in keeping the fridge vented/cooled. Just something to ponder for your van build. Love you guys. Keep it up.
Y’all gonna be alright! You have each other, your youth, your health, and great attitudes. 😄 That IS everything. Can you tell me what transmission you have in your bus? Thx!
Thank you for the added details. Completely understand the budget issues. I'll be waiting for the new build/updates and travel plans as they occur. Keep on Keeping on
You both are young adventurous and so very creative. Oh my gosh! Life happens so fast! What a great new adventure. Keep moving forward. Have no regrets.😊
I think you guys are making a great call. We follow your channel not because we're schoolies, in fact we have a 21-ft Geo pro travel. But we follow you because you're fun and exciting. I honestly believe you will be able to keep most of your subscribers and followers it will only add new ones with your new Van adventure. I applaud you for making the brave decision to call it quits when the time was right and move on to a new lifestyle. We wish you the best of luck and we will still be following along on your adventures. Take care!!
I can't wait to start watching your van build. It will be smaller, but so much more economical. If I was to do one, I would have a bed lift, or a murphy bed. That way during the day there is way more room in the van. I am retired now, but when my husband and I were first married we had a van. Then life happens, kids, and that goes with that. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. It was a great time. Can't wait to start watching the build, and then back on the road.
Good luck on the change. Once you get the bug to build and travel it never ending. I have had everything from a fifth wheel, truck campers converted utility trailers, and my latest is the ambulance conversion. Looking forward to following your newest adventures.
I'm sorry you are selling the bus but I understand your reasons. I wish you both good luck on your next adventure. It's what is meant to be. Stay safe and just enjoy your journey.
You guys spent so much time and money on building the bus, down to all the thoughtful designs choices. I’m sure it wasn’t an easy decision. I feel like you two are more about the adventures these days (rightfully so) and you both need the freedom away from the shackles of the bus. I think you both will like a smaller space. Natalie you are so sweet to worry about what we think but truthfully we are full of it half the time lol. Take what we say with a grain of salt.
I think that you are making good choices. Unless a person has lots of mechanical experience and tools, maintaining a used bus can be VERY expensive. While I have loved watching you learn and grow, I feel that a large van will be a much better fit for you. Your adventures outside the bus are so fun to watch. A van will give you even more access to awesome places to explore. Keep going, keep growing. We love following you.
You do what’s right for the two of you. Don’t ever apologize for your decisions and if people leave ugly comments hit delete and move on. Life is so short so enjoy your next adventure your way!
Don't worry about what anyone thinks, your lives and your call. Bus life for first timers appears to be daunting, van might be a great alternative. Best of luck to you both.
Sad to see the bus go, but super excited to see where your journey takes you and to see the new buildout in a van. Speaking for myself, I subscribed because of the the two of you, not your bus. You will see continued success no matter where it goes and I will continue to follow you for as long as you allow us to! Cheers to the future!
You are 100% doing the right thing…..as long as you have a van where you can stand up you will be great…I can’t wait to see the build that is part of the fun for us..honestly I would follow you even if you lived in a dump truck …You guys make the channel….you love each other and you love the road…that’s enough for us…..add on the fact that your charming and entertaining and you have the whole package…..I can’t wait till Monday…😁
Loved watching your bus life, but glad that you are so responsible. It doesn't matter to me what you drive bus/van , I am enjoying the ride with you guys. Looking forward to watch your journey through life.
Wishing you's two the best of luck with a van, I'm sure you'll make it a cracking build, you's have got to do what's best for you's so nobody should judge you for that.
Get a high roof Spinter van, extended. You'll have enough room for everything including a shower. Good luck. Hope to see your adventure on the new build.

Trent and Allie's company Mountain Made Vans are building a van for a family of four!
They do please look into it. They have huge nice conversations that suit your needs. Bunks beds slide outs whatever’s best for you

New adventures! Excellent! I watch this channel because I like you guys, not because of what you drive.
Glad you guys are safe! There is always another Bus/Van/Camper... & another day.
I am old and I watch and learn from you two. I respect your mature decisions and I hope they bring you nothing but joy.
It’s a new chapter and it will all work out fine. As long as you are together and healthy you will be fine.
Love that mentality! Exactly! 😊💚
Glad to see and hear that your ok. You have to do what you have to do to keep going. Can't wait for the new build.
Jimmy & Natalie, I have watched many van life (and schoolie) videos, and you two are among my favorites, for the obvious joy and love you have together as a couple, and your sense of adventure and honesty. I watched your build of the bus, and most of your videos so far. Thank you so much!! We're very excited for this next chapter! 😄

Sounds like you have made a great decision to switch to a van from All your reasoning. Look forward to your future endeavors and we wish you all the best of luck.
I live in a van so I say YAY welcome fellow vanners!!! It'll be cheaper on gas and cheaper to repair. A new adventure is right around the corner!
Smart thinking...watching y'all build out a van will be fantastic 😁👣
Sasquatch Fully approves !!
Good Luck on your next Adventure !
Thank you! 😊
Sad to see the Bus go but a van will be Great and easier to drive and Maintain....Look forward to New adventures
Ahh to be young again. I would totally love to purchase your Skoolie.
Can't wait to watch your van build.
Be safe, Be wise, Be Back.
Sad to see the skoolie go. You did some great things in that bus but I bet you will love the van just as much if not more. Being more mobile is a huge bonus and I can't wait to see the new build. Good luck.
We have gone through 4 different styles of RVs in the past 10 years! Change is good!
Y’all will do great just love each other and keep moving forward, love y’all. Kent
Awe, how exciting! A new chapter! I can’t wait to see the build videos!
I'm proud of you both for making the responsible decision.
My older (and quite successful) brother always says, the key to success is to step back and re-evaluate if what you are doing isn't working. Figure out what you need to do to make your plan work, and then do it. So, really, you are being successful. Looking forward to the continuing videos. You guys rock!
Thanks so much Patti! 💚 Your brother sounds like a smart guy! 😄
You'll love the driving dynamics of a van. Your bus has some great space though. It's nice that you caught your time with the bus on video.
You guys got this! Another build is exciting! Regardless of what type of vehicle. You’ll rock it.
Hey! Thanks!! 💚 We’re super nervous about the switch but we’re looking forward to it 😊
Get rid of the money gobbler. It costs more to fuel a skoolie. You'll be able to get into places with a smaller vehicle. You made a mature decision! Smart move! At the opposite end of life (recent retirees), my wife & I built out a Promaster 136" High Roof and absolutely love it. Yeah a van is good!have fun with the planning, you guy are great!
I think the van is a great idea. You will be able to park anywhere and be more stealth if you want to be.
I think it will be so hard for you to say goodbye to your Skoolie, but the fact that you are still going to be filming your video's while doing your van make over is going to be fun to watch. I think you have made the right choice. Take Care, Hugs UK
Sorry about the bus problem, Meghan and Matt I watch their videos too.Glad you had them to help. Can’t wait to see the new van.
Thank you! Meghan and Matt are the best! And we're excited for the new build too! 😄
You guys are great .You're real followers will follow you any where, You guys are fun.
Were with you all the way, love you two, and we care about you...Jimmy don't leave Natalie alone anymore...
I’m just grateful you are safe, you are amazing for what you have done especially for being so young. Godspeed.
you are both intelligent individuals and have good common sense....good luck with your van build.
That's great... a van or ambulance . Blessings on your new adventures
You guys do you, no regrets!! New van life adventures await and we anxiously await the continuing story. Have fun and God bless.
Treasure the memories you made. Love you guys
I have always thought that a shower is such a "waste of space" as you only use it for 10 minutes a day. I love what you did with your roll out natures head. I have always thought that another "waste of space" situation could be solved by incorporated into the shower space, a roll out fridge. Ooooo a van! You can put on a lift kit and really explore! I've watched you both grow over time and this next chapter will be exciting!
Y’all gonna be alright! You have each other, your youth, your health, and great attitudes. 😄
That IS everything.
I'm sorry for what your going through. I'll watch any videos you put up and I'm happy you're going to continue with that! 😊
No worries! You two will love the van build. The cost of ⛽️is a very good reason to go with a van.
im excited that you guys are excited!! I am glad Meghan and Matt were there, they are good people! I am looking forward to your "vanlife" 🤗

I watched the bus build you two did. That answered many of my questions. So now, can we all look forward to videos of your van build too? I hope so!
wishing you guys the best and cant wait to see what you guys do next
I love you guys and am looking forward to following your new van build!
A van is a great idea! We bought a shuttle bus. Still building. Can’t wait to see your next journey🙏🏼❤️
I'm sorry you are selling the bus but I understand your reasons. I wish you both good luck on your next adventure. It's what is meant to be. Stay safe and just enjoy your journey.
All it takes is a THANK YOU. Them I am glued. All the best with Plan - B. Regards
You will be happier with the van! You now have experience in what you want and need. Good luck, great videos!
New beginnings. The best of luck with your new adventure. Thank you.
Congratulations you two!!
Thank you!! 😊💚
Nice cool 😎 van life huh! I wish u guys the best😎can’t wait to see you you soon ok 👌
You do what’s right for the two of you. Don’t ever apologize for your decisions and if people leave ugly comments hit delete and move on. Life is so short so enjoy your next adventure your way!
Good for you guys, Love you guys no matter what you drive and do your adventure with.
Well done and I feel that you made the right decision. Sending you hugs 🍀💚🍀💚🍀
This is one of the best schoolie designs for me, but I'm happy that you'll do a van conversion 😊
I love your videos!!! A bus a van… can’t wait to keep watching.
A Van is a smart choice. I am so very happy for you both.
I really enjoyed the "Bus Adventures" and am looking forward to the "Van Life"....

Hey! Thanks! We’re excited for this new chapter too! 💚
