Sylas, the Unshackled Music is subjective. Don’t discredit the knowledge and research put into polytonal and 12-tonal music theory. “Wrong” notes can be used to great effect when used intentionally. There aren’t a finite amount of ways to approach a single idea or emotion.

I really like this. The wrong notes kind of have it some character and a bit of a spooky feel. Like imagine a combat game you know not a lot of blood and injury is just shown at the health bar but all of the sudden it turns into a seriously brutal like cannibalism and torture and shit and the screen gradually starts to turn red until the screen and audio is all messed up and it’s just like “error please restart” or something like that. Just an idea that popped up in my head haha. Crazy how much inspiration music can give you...

I think creating without hearing creates a constraint that in some ways could improve your process. Instead of trying to fine tune part after part, you get the whole thing at once and then you can judge it as a piece of music rather than a series of notes.
Listening to the song (touched-up), I think the base and guitar sections may be kind of loud. Maybe that’s what you’re going for, but still - I feel the piano melody is what sets this apart. If I want to listen to the same drum track over and over, I can hit a single key on my synth and let it play. The chance to make a musical statement with the piano - which sounds so different from the other rock-band-style instruments - can give this song personality in a more meaningful way. Also, right at 13:59 I’m led into thinking there will be more of those “duh-dah-duh-dah”s on the third and forth beats in the piano’s lower notes. Not hearing them more throws me off. It’s still “a banger” and fun to listen to, but I thought I’d say something.
