RIP David Rocastle. A fantastic player taken far too early. He scored a great goal at Anfield in the League Cup earlier that season in an epic tie that we eventually won 2-1 in a 2nd replay on a freezing night at Villa Park.
To say Forest's win over us the previous week had a deflationary effect on our season is an understatement. Form and attendances evaporated together; and, quite frankly, I wanted Fergie gone. Thankfully, I didn't get my way - thanks to the wiser heads of Bobby Charlton and Martin Edwards.
scherben I wanted fergie out as well at that point. The forest game was just typical of us at that time. The rest of the season was an absolute bore culminating in the Wimbledon game at OT in early may where I was one of 23,000 throughly fed up reds who couldn’t wait for the end of the season.
@@scherben8870 and the injustice of the ball being over the line against Forest too. The period from January until that game really raised hope that United would win something.
@@retrofootball664 Absolutely. I think he should've kept the kids in instead of playing the likes of Milne. Maiorana was a way better player - if rawer.
This was basically all we get every week . 5 mins . Amazing looking back . Didn’t even get any match of the day or big match highlights after 1987. And ITV had a weird and ridiculous habit of refusing to show any red cards
West Ham made a great charge to avoid relegation which fell at the final hurdle at Anfield. Ironically Liverpool's win over West Ham at the end of the season kept up...Aston Villa!
Thanks for posting. I used to record these and watch them over and over again. The music at the start brought back a lot of memories.
More of these round ups please!!

I was at old Trafford that day to see one of Ralph Milnes few goals for us!!
