Since plastic is smooth, that's why your paint chipped off. Needs to be sanded down to give the paint tooth to stick to. And yes, spray paint is a much better option.

Put the bugs into a container in the fridge, somthing esthetically pleasing, whatever it may be. Nobody likes opening their fridge and seeing a bag of meal worms or roaches.

The poop bags are probably the best investment. I work at a small family owned pet supply shop (we sell supplies, not animals), and my favorite item we sell are these biodegradable doo-doo bags- and let me tell you, they are absolute life savers.
You can get biodegradable poop bags if you are worried about the plastic you are throwing away. They keep the smells in just like plastic and they hold up for more than long enough for you to discard the full bag of trash, but they break down well over longer time. You can get biodegradable trash bags too!
the place i use to work for made a product like urine gone, was called U R In Control, sold a case (12 bottles) for like $40 to hospitals and old age homes. they couldn't get enough of that stuff lol worked great when i got a new puppy a few years back.use to also sell it by the 55 gallon drum to a big college and they used it to mist the dumpsters to keep them from stinking.

Some advice, even though it’s enzyme based, urine-gone puts off fumes that can be harmful to a lot of animals with more sensitive respiratory systems. I recommend getting a poop cleaner made for birds (like poop-off) they come in a wipe, bottles with a scrubby brush, spray bottles and have huge refill bottles that you can buy. You can also use white vinegar to disinfect and baking soda to absorb liquid messes before they soak into fabric.
For the water dispenser, you probably don't want to use the basic paints. The best options would be some of the spray primer/paint combinations. Krylon has one of the best options. Remember that the plastic of the thing is designed to not be stained or have things stick to it, you need the ones that work on plastics as well for it. For another few suggestions for things to have, one more general thing you really ought to have in hobby rooms is a good first aid kit. Put it in a visible place in the room that's easy to reach. Most of the aquariums and other things used to contain pets are made of glass which, if the worst happens, tends to be very sharp and if you're trying to save your pets, well, getting your hands sliced up along with everything else is a good way to end up with infections. On top of that, having one that includes things for burns helps if things go wrong with heaters or other things. A shop/wet vac is another thing that is extremely useful to have available for cleanups that might include water or heavier messes...
For the urine cleaner there are several different brands and they all work about the same as long as they use enzymes. Clorox is my favorite brand because of the bottle that is made to use every drop of product. I had a dog with a bladder infection who peed on the floor every night for the last few months of her life so I used a lot of this stuff.
Roomba doubles as a cat/dog toy. My cat likes to put only her front end on it so it drags her back end all around the house. She's special. 🙃 Also natures Miracle urine remover is the best and you can buy poop bags that are biodegradable
Protip - if you don't have time to give your reptiles a bath, you can get rubbing-alcohol in spray form, and just spray them down with the rubbing alcohol. It's such a strong disinfectant, it kills _everything!_

I know it’s not the best solution besides spending at least a few hundred on a generator but you can Amazon the device that goes in a car that plugs in the 12v socket (the cigarette lighter) that will give you a normal household plug (obviously the one correct for your country). Like I said, not the best thing but also I’ve thought about those huge computer backup batteries. They’re large and have normal indoor plugs. I also love solar options, just think they’re neat and you could have a panel wired through a window or something to always keep a trickle charge on one of your backup batteries. Even if you only have some of the smaller, more common power bricks, you could have one charging via the solar panel while using another

As far as the poop smell eliminator...home depot sells odoban and it works on all kinds of pet and househould odors and has like a hundred different uses... and also disinfects...
You can sprinlke a thin layer of baby powder in trashcan after cleaning up reptile enclosures and it will cover up any smell. I use it after cleaning my cats litterbox and the trashcan doesnt stink.
