They can be employed by the state in various capacities. For one they can act as rescuers and secondly they could help catch and extract venom which India has a shortage.

I too feel satisfied holding a snake, monitor lizard etc. I started catching snakes back in 2nd class. In 9th class i was bitten by a Russell's Viper. It was an amazing experience. Its been more than 2 decades and i still love catching snakes and other reptiles and releasing them into the wild.
To be honest, such activities are often neglected by the so called educated mass. What this man is doing not only as a livelihood but also as profession, requires a lot of courage and mental strength. He might not get medal of honour for this kind of work but yes, he truly is a daring human!!

Watching him catch a rat snake, I remembered one of my childhood encounters with a rat snake, I picked him up the same way he did but as I was in 7th std, my hight was a bit less to pick him completely in air, and hence it swing back at my arm and bit on my elbow.... Btw, most people don't realise how dangerous it is to even go near a snake you don't know anything about.... My uncle almost lost his index finger while rescuing a Russel's viper (his finger flesh melted and bone was visible..).... . If you ever encounter a snake which you don't know, just stay away from it but keep constant eye on him until a professional comes, don't lose vision of it, otherwise it would be a lot difficult or catch it...
