- Flevoland is flat. Really flat. So we got a map, found its highest natural point (7m), and then organised a mountain expedition to conquer it.

The way climbing should be
the Urker Local at the church was the sherpa.
Not true, i was one of sherpa’s who led everyone to the pub!
In general I wouldn't recommend doing the whole 'no oxygen' thing, doesn't sound like much fun, I rather like breathing
@@Hurricane50 we mean bottled oxygen because as you climb oxygen become less available to breath.

Now I am dutch and I have been to Flevoland many times but I never had the guts to climb that mountain so I take my hat of for all you brave people. I have been to the pub though, but I took the stairs.
I live ON urk and climb that mountain moutible times.
Also did you just bleep the swearing with the OV Chipcard sound you are an absolute juggernaut

Next level: Hogeberg (literally "High Mountain") in Oudemirdum with its breathtaking 12,7 meters. (And a bonus cold war watchtower on the peak)
It should be a series: "climbing mountains nobody has ever considered high" And they all have to be the highest peak of something. Like the old waste disposal mount here.
Having cycled there a lot, I do have to say that the view from the cliff is stunning there.
Honestly in The Netherlands, a greater challenge would be to find and descend the lowest valley.

I live in the Netherlands and i have a mountain of 50 centimeters in my backyard. I have to climb it every day.
You should consider installing a cable car. 50 centimeters ascents can be tricky... especially after the pub.

I would like to invite you for an expedition to the 'Bosberg', in Appelscha, the highest mountain of Friesland (+27 meters above sea level). It comes with a really cool legendary story as well!! And it has a nice watchtower as well, where you can see the Martini tower in Groningen when the weather is clear. It definitely is worth the trip!

This is just an awesome video. Thanks a lot for letting us follow you on this awesome trip. This remembers me when I climbed the highest (not man made) mountain in Leipzig, Germany, which is about 10 metres high. This is called "Warze" (which literrally means wart), and we scoot down with our toboggan.
Not sure where to put this, but for a long time I've been putting off watching your video's thinking it will only be really interesting and be added to the already long list of things I feel the urge to keep up to date with. And it has. Nice work!

Tim, have you ever visited ‘schokland’? It’s close to Urk and also an old island. Nowadays you can find the old harbour in the middle of a field, it is so surreal.

Hi Tim, what an impressive and lovely video. And what a great achievement to conquer this mountain with so many people together. I have several 4000 meter peaks in the Alps under my belt, but this mountain I have never climbed before. Must be a great feeling to do that. I'm very sorry that I wasn't there myself, when you were doing this. I would have loved it. If you ever do something similar, please warn me. I'll be there to join you. Thank God there are still some people with a good sense of humor and do things like this. Love it.

hope you didnt had to leave someone on the top of flevoland and everyone made it well back to the -7 meter gound level.
With enough video editing, even a walk down to the chip shop can be made epic. This is on a par with Top Gear's masterful editing (back in the Clarkson days).
As someone who is from Flevoland, I can confirm Getting to the highest point is an extremely daunting task

To embarrass myself totally….um…for the first 4 video minutes and the addition of reading the title and then the description box…I thought that URK was an acronym for something that I didn’t understand because, well, it’s Flevoland innit.
Also, I’m from the Southern Hemisphere so I have absolutely no idea why I just typed “innit”.
