Fabulous review. Your comparisons with the prototypes make your reviews a real cut above. Thanks for the effort. I operated the phase 1 version of these some, never had problems with them and they pulled like hell after they worked the bugs out. They redesigned the prime mover, added 10,000 lbs to the engine block and that cured early heat issues. EMD just didn't put the effort into the software and EPA regs caught up with them. Never operated the phase 2.
Thank you and I appreciate you for watching my video. I like giving a different perspective on giving reviews and I think it will keep the Manufactures honest when they say their models are accurate to the prototype. And it also shows the models aren't perfect
Hi there! Nicely detailed review of each prototype modelled. I have 2 of the UP's but have not release a review on them. I did not like the way my video came out so I'm going to do a showcasing video instead since you have done a great job showing every point of the model. ;) Keep up the good work.
That handbrake system on the locomotive is a little weird you have to twist the button to the release or apply then hold the button until the gauge goes into the appropriate zone but that takes a while then some people thinks it's released when is still applied
Loksound has the file, if anyone wants superb motor control. Excellent model, runs good, i guess Scaletrains scared Athearn cause now they are producing some quality stuff!
Your right. not much differences at all but little stuff. I'm happy with them . Now the questing is . Is it better then Brass ???????? ( Athearn said that )
How do you turn off the ground lights and also set it up for alternating ditch lights? Tried the way indicated on the manual and from a SoundTraxx video but still can't get lights to alternate. Athearn has not returned my e-mails. This is my first Athearn.
@@engineerhall5887 I tried what SoundTraxx gave me for settings but the the ground lights and ditch lights flash together but they do not alternate. Spent enough time on this already. Athearn never returned my messages. I will put a LokSound 5 in it and take out the Tsunami2. LokSound 5 has better low speed control and I already have a programmer for LokSound. I'm sticking with Walthers Proto with LokSound and Atlas Gold with LokSound. My Walthers locomotive I bought, I put on the track and it ran perfectly, great low speed control, prototypical acceleration and deceleration. Have not changed one CV setting on it ever. The Atlas Gold unit, I only increased CV3 and CV4 for more momentum, that's it.
@@Form44208 You do need to adjust the momentum on these SD90s and if you hit F14, you get great low speed control. Soundraxx calls this "switching mode" but it works well for low speeds. Another thing I always add is a current keeper or keep alive. I have two of these locos and they run very well.
@@WVS-KFD Thanks for the reply! I switched all 3 of my Athearn locomotives to LokSound 5 with a PowerPack capacitor. I agree that capacitors are a must have. I also had TDS speakers installed. regards, NS.

Seems like athearn is finally catching up with the competition
🤣😂 your Right
Excellent locomotive review, glad to see that Athearn is making feature related improvements to the characteristics of their locomotives.
Great review! Is that ElectroMotive emblem below the cab window a sticker or painted on?
Excellent editing,I like how you take your time.
-your computer in the background as a positive verifier is a neat feature
Keep up the great work!🇺🇸

hi Richard...awesome locos..fantastic review...thx for sharing ..vinny
What camera do you use to record this?
I used my cell phone I think it was a Galaxy note 20. Now I am using the fold 4
Is this a longer loco from a regular one
Love the 90MAC demo paint scheme. She's a mean machine Mr Hall. What's the deal with flat spots on the wheels ? Brakes ceasing on their own ?

@@engineerhall5887 Thank you.
I’m not a CP fan but man the loco looks awesome......
I'm not either but I like the red.
very cool. you got the same 3 I got.
Would be nice if the front door would open were the engineer go through to get in the cab

very detailed report. and compared to the real loco's. not much differences at all

My advice to you is to contact SoundTraxx. Or use JMRI decoder pro to change settings on the decoder
