- In today's video we are going to be exploring Hefei, which is in Anhui Province China. Hefei is considered to be a tier 2 city about 2 hours high speed train ride to the west of Shanghai. Now I have been here a few times as my partner Cindy's family is from here, but since most people wouldn't generally travel to a city out here, I thought I would get my camera out, tag along with Cindy and her sister, as we check out some cool places in this beautiful city. This is my first China Travel video I have made while here and look forward to showing you all what life is really like in a tier 2 city in China.

Late watch for me just got back from my trip around asia! Went to china and absolutely loved it! Went to the Great Wall which was an absolute experience! Great video once again mate!
@@aidyn12 You’re back! Glad to hear you had a good time mate! I’ve never been up to Beijing and seen the Great Wall but it’s on the to do list for sure. I appreciate the comment, cheers 👍
Great video, Luke! Thank you for taking us around a city that most of us don’t usually see. Hefei looks like a beautiful city. Glad you were feeling better and were able to enjoy the scenery.
@@mba0005 Thanks Michael. Yeah definitely a more authentic look into everyday life over there as well. I appreciate that… from here on out I think I was immune to just about everything 😆
Wow, it's clean, green and beautiful. I will definitely schedule some time to Hufei during my coming trip.
@@thewiseone7286 If you can speak Chinese… sure go check it out, otherwise I would advise against this as it will be difficult… and if your in that region check out Hangzhou or Suzhou which will be more foreigner friendly… that’s assuming you are not Chinese 😊👍
I am interested in seeing more off-tourists path ‘boring’ cities. I like to see local people’s life.
@@XW3126 Yes, likewise! somewhat more of an authentic experience as well. In saying this, sure I absolutely love Shanghai… but these “smaller” lesser known places are also great to explore. Thanks for the comment
Thanks for the video, it's nice to see my grandparents' hometown in AnHui province.
@@andreastano7920 No worries at all, I enjoyed putting it together. Glad it gave you a look into your grandparents hometown of Hefei. 😊
Welcome to my hometown!
@@GeekPort Thankyou!!

合肥发展太快了,20年前我还是小孩的时候,合肥市中心还有农田,现在变成了cbd
About 15 years ago, they tore up the city to renovate. Everywhere was dusty. Now it is so nice.
Yeah it’s nicely laid out
Thank you for showing me Hefei, my partner living in Hefei now and i plan to visit. 🙏
@@ShiroRoBoy No worries, enjoy your time there 👍
Welcome to my hometown.
@@carlarshao2212 Thankyou
you should do more Hefei videos if possible ❤
@@666raki I’d like to but I won’t be back there until next year… I may think about a new channel just for when I am in china 🇨🇳
Hope you are feeling better . Nice careful vid this one . One of the better more forthright honest bloggers working hard this end to get you more subscribers . Safetravels and always have a bog roll with you and coin for the bogs :)
@@philcleaver2703 hahaha thanks phil 😆 yeah much better mate… been a few weeks now and better than ever. Cheers 👍
thank u for calling my hometown "beautiful city", which I don't think it's a interesting place to travel hahaha...I recommend u go to HuangShan, also in AnHui Province, that is really beautiful
@@wbsgdcr It is beautiful! and I suppose having been there quite a few times to see family… there is some bias 😆 it’s unique as well as most foreigners will never see a place like this. Yes! Huangshan is definitely on the list of places to go next year! Thanks for the comment
Actually living in 2 tier city the cost of living is very cheap more importantly It’s more relaxing.
@@917amazon Most definitely! Although the prices have still gone up in Hefei… in comparison to larger “Tier 1” cities… yes, still quite cheap. I agree, way more relaxed and no people mountain, people sea 😆
@@LukeCrisp Hefei is now tier 1😉
Now that I've been to China, their cities are AMAZING!
@@ryansofly Glad that you got to go there, even if it was only for 19 hours 😆 Hopefully you’ll get over there for more time in the future!
Welcome to Hefei,I think you can go to Oufeng Street near by Pearl Square, there are lots of foreigners.
@@johnshen707 Thank you! I suppose that would be a place where they all go? In general I saw about 3 for my whole week in Hefei. It’s ok, I don’t need to be around foreigners as I was with extended family, just an observation and point I wanted to get across to my viewers that there are very little. 😊👍
nice..
@@osuan9 Thanks 👍
Enjoyed the vid Luke! Been subscribed for a while. Also been to China a few times and I do enjoy the vibe you get hanging around the average city.
@@Melbaviation23Thanks I appreicate the comment! Yes, definitely! 👍
Hello Luke.I hope you and Cindy are both Ok now after that darn virus.Hefei city looks pretty nice.I am amazed by these huge public areas and the enormous parks and streets. The whole place gives you a piece of calm and warmth.Maybe my only problem of living there would be the chinese food.Pretty light for my tastes mate.🤣I really enjoyed the video.Cheers from 43 degrees Athens.🥵🥵🥵
@@flyingdentist Yeah much better now Yannis… quite annoying though 😅.. Yeah Parks and large open areas are a big thing in China… I suspect that’s possibly because they primarily live in apartments and don’t have their own gardens… unless filthy rich haha! Yeah the food is a challenge for me due to coeliacs but I wouldn’t say the taste is light… Authentic Chinese food is very flavorsome with a range of spice levels… the Chinese we get in the west is nothing compared to it. 43! Stay cool mate! Cheers!
All the newer developed city have better planning for open space, especialy keep the water front open with nature, have better leving environment but the income is lower.
Thanks for sharing
@@linfung4297 No worries, thanks for the comment 👍
Am also a Ugandan living in Hefei Anhui province 😅😅😊
@@JIANHUA-b9z Awesome! I think I see about 2-3 foreigners every time I am there but if you’re living there I’m sure you know parts where there are more.

Just like I’m pretty much see the same things here and there all over Australia 😁👍
@@LukeCrisp similar or same setting of shopping mall in your video haha
I am surprised by Hefei in your video too, thought i am a Chinese.
@@林北就是唱秋 虽然你是中国人,但这个城市让你感到惊讶。
对不起,我想我明白你的意思。 😊👍
I was wondering why you visited Hefei, and I got my answer. I like Hefei, but it's not somewhere tourists would go. But you're no tourist.
I was told by a friend in Hefei "There are 2 things you never see here, aliens and foreigners."
I'm pretty sure it went from 3 to 2 hours is stopping less. Like going between Shanghai and Hangzhou can take like 1.5hrs, but if you get a non-stop train, it takes like 30-40min.
Did they preserve any room/part of the prison as a little museum?
@@brennencox516 Yeah it’s definitely not faster so unless it’s a newer line or less stops.. that counts for the shorter time. Foreigners are certainly far and few between… in comparison to other cities in China. To my knowledge the structures are preserved but I don’t believe there are any rooms / cells as they were. Cheers for the comment 👍
are you here now?l may entertain you if you are still in hefei❤
interesting little vid thanks
@@robknorthwich Thanks Rob!
Did you talk to your Aussie friends about your China trip? Did they believe you when you said anything good about China?
@@boweihuang3246 I have gone to China many times since 2017. So yes, I chat with friends and family. Majority of my friends are open minded and are interested in visiting China, some already have been there. Then Ofcourse some have no interest… but that’s their choice. Why wouldn’t they believe me when I say anything good about China? As we all know there is good and bad with every country, including my own in Australia. Thanks for the comment 😊 👍
Your video cannot be automatically translated into Chinese language😅 when the subtitle language is selected.
@@terryyeung7470 Oh that’s a shame… maybe it’s my Australian accent? 😆 I tried Spanish and German and there was no problem Auto Translating 🤔

Try some local food...Hui cousin are very unique...😊😊😊
@@Oldbrow Unfortunately I can’t have most of the local Cuisine due to an Allergy… but still try what I can 👍 👍 😊
@@LukeCrisp Ha-ha, you have come to the right place, Chinese TCM can treat allergy symptoms by taking Chinese medicine or acupuncture, you can try ask your local friends that the hospital is famous for TCM and then pay a visit, maybe it will be effective for foreigners.😊😊😊
@@Oldbrow I am not sure it can treat for Coeliacs disease my friend 😆 this is a genetic condition which is not generally found in Chinese people but I appreciate the concern! Quite happy and have plenty of food over here in Australia 😊
