    perhaps you could do a more detailed tutorial on how to properly insert hairpins & bobby pins, & hairstilcks & the like? I know I had trouble with them for the longest time. Heck, I still have trouble, but I think that's more due to my hair texture than anything else. They still like to slide out ^_^

    • @TheGabygael
      @TheGabygael 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      defenitly your texture, i have always known how to use them and they just don't want to co operate with my hair i cannot make a long lasting updo if i don't do it on top of a dutch braid or i curl my hair first and even then bobby pins slide out after awhile (i might want to invest in stronger pins, my mom told me they made them way better way back when so we probably live in an era of widely available shittily made pins) pin curl pins work great on me so when i want to secure something on my head i use those (plus they kinda look like dutch oorijzers which is fun)

    A refresher on French/Dutch braiding would be nice, particularly with regards to hand holds as I can never seem to work that out without getting all twisted up. Also tips on how to do them on the sides of your head and/or tips for those with more limited range of arm/shoulder movement.

    When I was first learning, I had a lot of trouble with different holdy-uppy things. The person who was teaching me had quite coarse, grippy hair, I have silky, slippery hair, so things she praised (bobby pins, u-pins) I could not get to work at all at all. Cue me thinking I was being an idjit when it really was mostly just my hair texture. So, you know, an introduction to different sorts of pins and sticks and forks and clippies and flexis and all that good stuff might be useful?

      Me too! It's witchcraft! I just had to make a ponytail to work out what I do as it is so automatic. I shall endeavour to try this new way more often!

    Just want to thank you for teaching me how to rope braid, as I was able to teach my son how to do it, which makes it easier on me :) . I have enjoyed your videos very much.

    Thanks for this basic instruction! For some reason I could never figure out how to make the braid consistent once I pulled it forward over my shoulder to braid in front of me. It never occurred to me I had to start braiding with an UNDERNEATH motion. It's possible I never would have figured it out without watching this video.

    Of course you explain things well! I've been coming back for years for a reason! I'm glad you did this tutorial because I had been told my sons knew how to braid (in high school a buddy of theirs had long hair). Then I broke my arm! And discovered that they knew the concept but not how to functionally do it. Holding the strands and keeping a certain tension is really part of the picture! This video will help a lot of people.

    Love how bendy your shoulders are, omgeee!! I'm 47 and don't have near that range. The 'how to get the braid from behind you to over your shoulder' explanation was awesome. I've been doing unbraided cinnabun for a while now, thanks to you. Otherwise this mop would be a lot shorter than it is already (done 3 quarantine hair trims now and I know I'm going off the rails LOL, but it's always in the cinnabun and I'm happy and that's what matters). Love you! So good to hear from ya :) From British Columbia

    These styles are basically the only ones I know and have used with any regularity. Once I believe I watched either you or someone else do a fishtail braid and I put my hair half up and fishtailed the pony part. I love the look of that braid but my arms got sore after awhile lol. Thanks for showing how to get a smooth ponytail. I typically have problems with that especially the underside of the ponytail. I am a hand switcher with the hair tie. I have never liked the using the free hand thing because I have a ton of broken pieces on the sides of my hair (long embarrassing story) and I always think those pieces will fall out of the ponytail and the ponytail itself will be on the loose side no matter how many times I wrap the hair tie around. I also like a good English braid. Very easy and just gives a ponytail a little something extra. My hair has lost a lot of thickness due to the stress of the past year and I don’t feel like buns are going to be particularly noticeable on my hair. Maybe if I braid it first I can give the illusion of more thickness. Just a suggestion but since you have been on TH-cam for at least a decade maybe you can make an entire series for your new subscribers on all the basic techniques you use to make the more complicated styles. Next can be French braid vs Dutch braid vs lace braid.

    Your bang trimming video encouraged me to trim more of mine, I love them. I made "curtian" bangs. You also taught me how to rope braid and hauser braid. I am trying to relearn the Dutch or French braid. A simple tutorial on that would be cool! I know you have one from years ago, yes?

    I absolutely LOVE your makeup today! The blue eyeshadow is such a nice pop of color.
    I finally have long enough hair to do fancy updos and whatnot, but first I need to learn the basics. I can't wait to build up my repertoire!
    Also, where can I access your amazon list? I very inexperienced when it comes to what tools I should use for my hair.

    I liked this :) my big problem is still french/Dutch braiding - I know you have several videos already about this but I really struggle with how to separate my hair as it is so long and floofy and prone to grabbing on to itself that I run out of arm. And I need a third one to hold and split it, if that makes sense?
    I can, at least, just about manage a French braid now though thanks to you - and learning a nautilus bun from you was life changing!

    I checked out your Amazon shop (the link in the description isn’t a live link btw) but I didn’t see the nylon hair ties you used. Maybe I’m blind, but I only saw the burly bands, extra wide betiteto bands, Wenobby ultra thick, and some shiny disco scrunchies 🕺🏻💃🏼
