I had the 82 XS650SJ Heritage Special. Loved it. First motorcycle. I'd love to get another for the memories.
Bought mine new in 84 and still love it.
Watching this guy brings me back to when I was 13 listening to my Dad and his buddy's drinking beer in the garage talking around a bike, he was a motorcycle mechanic for 20 years and I am forever proud, it's in my blood. Just bought an xs650 to work on myself, thanks Dad.
Man, I'd rather have a bike like this, than a new bike !
exactly, all new bikes look the same, they have no style.i love old bikes that are harder to find.
Those XS650s are such nice bikes. They vibrate like hell, but are well worth the ride.
My first bike was an 83 Heritage Special, great bike.
I used to ride a 1972 Yamaha 650 and loved every minute of it. I am a die hard Yamaha fan. Back in the day the guy that owned it didn't have a car and I did so on the weekends we would trade. I got the best end of the deal. I wish I would have bought it from him. It definitely kicked some ass!!!!!!! I used to shut down Triumph's all the time. Honda's also.................
One of the most reliable, quick, bikes ever made!! Yamaha'a equivalent of XL's by Honda! Don't mess with success!
Thats a sweet bike! I've got a showroom condition French Blue '76 XS650 with 4,000 miles that I dug out of the garage this spring. Cleaned it up, put on new tires and added some carb-clean and it runs like new. I was going to give it away to any friend who would ride with me since I could not stand to sell it for $500 to someone who would make a chopper or tracker out of it. But it rides so nice... Also seems to be worth a whole lot more than I thought. So I'll just park it next to my New '19 Boneville T120 Black and let it age some more. If I do ever want to sell it I think I would have to drive it down (from Alaska) to you folks to find a good home for it.
That's a beautiful bike Ken! 🤓👍
Diggin the on board shot! 👍
I had an '82. Dang, I loved that bike. An ex-GFU ran it over with her pickup truck. 😥
Kick and electric start, self-canceling turn signals, and you could finagle the headlight switch into a middle position to have low and high beams on at the same time. After a few hours at highway speeds, your butt and hands would be numb from the vibration.
this is exactly like my first street bike
Sweet!
I agree 👍
Yamaha please make this bike again
I have a 78 xs650 some guy gave me it sat for a long time it needs a good amount of resto where can I find parts
My Mom had an '82
ya know whoever buys it gonna want the stock parts included thats how it usually goes
Were is the modual on the 1983 yamahaspeacial r they inter changable
Give up the quarter mile stuff, Change the rear sprocket down from the stock 34 tooth rear sprocket to 30 tooth rear and and have instead of 3600rpm's a sweet 3200 rpm's at 55mph. Much nicer ride all round. That 34 tooth would suit better for a scrambler setup.
I have a junk one out back someone probably wrecked with no title and no key :/
Uncle Dale's CR taunting us at 8.39 😑
